I’ve never considered it as a song of some one who has passed away. It’s just about them being apart and until he returns the can just pretend they’re together. Flying home to you simply means he’ll come home in a hurry.

Seph 'm not sure if You know this. But when He said come on man thats not part of the song.He was pissed because one of the band members messed up and You see Him look over at Him.And at the end of the song when He started moving His arms real fast He was doing it to make sure the band member kept up with His movements and Elvis was pretty pissed.I think it was the drummer Ronnie Tut or one of the guitarists but He was mad.Alot of ppl think that's part of the song but He was calling out one of the band members for messing up.As always another GREAT REACTION👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍,,Have a great day

You can't take the south outta the boy, "Oh Lordy" is directly from the south. My grandma said it all the time. And he talked to people in the audience all the time. He would always sign autographs any time they ask, he was kind to the media even though they weren't kind to him. He was basically a shy person who overcame his shyness to thank people for their love. One time famous tv host Larry king did a whole week of Elvis and his friends and people came on to tell their encounters with him in their lifetime. Larry Said, " I have yet to hear from anybody, famous or not that didn't have a good impression of Elvis, they all say he was a southern gentleman. " I like to call him that, he was courteous, and respectful. Even in the early days when some guys made fun of him and punched him when he signed an autograph book. Seph you can't draw, but your are a WONDERFUL reactor. Love ya Seph. Mary

You don`t seem to know much about their disrespect back then.
Just remember that most of his fans were teenagers back then.
In the seventies, fans got more mature and they got more respectful.
Do you remember that he let his white BMW paint red just because his fans constantly wrote messages with lipsticks all over the car?
They tore his pants, jackets, and shirts to pieces and left him with scratches and flesh wounds on his body.
Even in the 70s, some women stormed onto the stage and wouldn`t let go of him. One woman dashed toward him, ramped his mic into his teeth and chipped his front tooth.
Believe me, if they had cell phones back then, they would have used them for selfies with him. I`m 100 per cent sure of that. His fans constantly climbed over the Graceland wall and trespassed on his property. They even tried to get into his house.

    • @emerald1805
      @emerald1805 Před 27 dny +1

@@lechat8533 Oh, I remember all of that. I personally knew a ‘musician’ who jumped over the fence and went up to the house! Turned out Elvis wasn’t even home then. I should have clarified and stated “those Vegas audiences, back then”. The Vegas showroom audiences were always older, more reserved, much more jaded, and FAR more wealthy, than audiences on tour. They also smoked and drank a lot more! Do you remember the crazy dinner show menu’s in the showroom then?- those prices are STILL expensive! The dinners always had one weird choice you’d never expect. Those audiences wouldn’t have taken a selfie, for fear someone else might see & think it was conceited. I was mostly thinking about those 70s audiences, and not the earlier years.

I can't remember where I heard/read this, but someone thought that the person in the audience asked if they could have their pen back and Elvis was joking when he said, 'I can't do that, sorry'. Because he then goes back over to them and says, 'You'll get it back, don't worry' and passes them the pen. I don't know if this is right, but it would make sense 🤔
You're truly an Elvis fan if you can't explain how much you love him. There's a quote from George Klein, one of Elvis' long-time friends; he said, "If you're an Elvis fan, no explanation is necessary. If you're not an Elvis fan, no explanation if possible." 🥰

Hi Seph! Please bear with me as I begin what will seem a rant completely disconnected to our subject but I am choosing this moment to talk about a low budget movie I saw once. It was about a young girl who had been sent away from her family to a home where youths such as herself, would deal with various afflictions; in her case, severe cerebral palsy affecting her motor control and speech. There, she remained in her own private hell, depressed and unable to find joy of any kind in her life, that is until a new aide came along. The aide worked with the girl to no avail when one day she notice that the child perked up slightly when an Elvis Presley song was played. The aide bought her a teen magazine with Elvis’ picture on the front which she clutched to her chest. With great difficulty she began speaking to the aid about Elvis. “He makes me feel alive!” She explained and so together they pretended to make Graceland from sticks and stones. One day the aide encouraged her to write to Elvis. They mailed the letter and waited. When nothing came the girl lapsed into another depression believing that she was not worthy of his notice. A letter came eventually. In it, he apologized for the delay as well as his poor penmanship. He asked her to give him another chance by writing to his personal address. He included a huge pink teddy bear. The two corresponded this way until alas the sweet child was found dead as she clutched his latest letter to her heart. It is very much a true story and I find that as I watch him sing Just Pretend it’s as though I see him clutching her to his heart. If anyone ever wants to say anything bad about Master Elvis Presley…well, they shouldn’t! Sorry for the rant Seph! Much love and blessings to you!❤️

If you want to see some real interaction, you should React to Love Me Tender 1970 Live Concert in Las Vegas, but you will often see him interacting with fans as he performs. Not every song he sings, obviously, or the concert would be twice as long, & he did two concerts daily, & sometimes three over weekends. Love your Elvis Reactions. Wonder if that painting is at Graceland? Last i read "Bahega" is still around and painting.
Yes, there is a debate about what prompted "Can't do that". Apparently some guy asked Elvis to sign a napkin, at least that seems to be a consensus.
"Just Pretend" never did well on the charts, but remains a huge favorite of Elvis fans (including this one) and is one of the most requested songs on the Sirius Elvis station.

I've always loved the song; Elvis's vocal 'gymnastics' are otherworldly. The performance is awesome; really like the motions Elvis makes at the end. Have always been curious as to who hit the sour note on their instrument that Elvis gave a sidelong glance at & said: "Come on man." Elvis was a musical perfectionist and seemed to know what every single instrument and backup vocals were doing at all times.

My guess is she asked Elvis, "would you like to see me after the show", to which he replied, "I can't do that, I'm sorry" I don't think it has anything to do with the return of her pen, or the signing of another autograph. This live version of Just Pretend is a great performance and in my opinion is better than the June 1970 Nashville studio version. Seph, your usual enthusiastic reaction is much appreciated. i found this on the internet:
This is from Elvis Priestly on Elvis The king's Court.
Saw this answer today in another place, most recent answer to a thread I started over there a while back on the same question (so glad I'm not alone wanting to know all the minutiae!)
"A friend of my met Bohega in 1985. She gave Elvis a drawing of him she made. And she asked if Elvis would sign a Vegas Menu she had. He said 'sure. time out folks'.. She gave Elvis a pen (herself). And Bohega asked if he liked it. He said yes. He wrote for her 'Thanks for the present. Love, Elvis Presley'. Then she noticed the ring on his finger.. And she asked if she may have it.. He said 'I can't do that I'm sorry'. After he signed the Menu he took up the drawing and walked to Charlie to gave him that. Elvis still had the pen in his hand. Bahiga told her that she wanted it back. He walked back to her and gave her the pen."

Best live version! In his absolute prime, using his full vocal talents with incredible feeling. The Elvis in between songs is as mesmerising as his performances - always off the cuff, ever so funny. The stage was his oyster, the ONE place he could be in total control of his music.
I feel so frustrated. Full concerts plus hours of Elvis rehearsal and behind the scenes footage have YET to be fully restored and officially released. It's been more than half a century, come on! P.S. Paint-less and draw-less over here, myself! 🤣🤣🤣

I remember the feeling to this day, and how my face was ...I was stunned! I had never heard anything like it and I played Burning Love over and over. Just staring... and feeling gobsmacked! Eventually I listened to the others on that record and fell in love with every one of them. Then that same year in the summer holidays they put an Elvis movie on every morning! I saw Follow That Dream first and was just blown away. Every week from then on, with my pocket money I bought an Elvis LP or cassette. They are so battered and scratched because I never ever got bored hearing him....and now they're stored.
My dad used to remind me of Elvis.. Then my cousin was doing our family ancestry and found we joined Elvis's ancestry! Probably a lot do but it felt really super cool to think there was a reason why my dad reminded me of Elvis. And to this day old ladies say to me "Oooh your dad! He was such a heart throb around here!" ... and their faces go dreamy as they remember. 😂

Notice he introduces it, as on a “Country & Western album I just recorded” ? When that album was released this track wasn’t on it. Only the LIVE version was available, until decades after Elvis’ death. Then (for $$$) they decided to release the studio version, (which he never liked) and added an overdubbed orchestra.
