Southern Raised, a group of award winning kinfolk, trained in classical music but raised in the bluegrass soaked Ozark Mountains. They have created a Southern Raised trademark sound where classical meets bluegrass and city streets meets country roads. SR has morphed a progressive sound that spans Christian Country/ Bluegrass, Celtic and Classical. They’re talented, they’re energetic, they’re Southern Raised.

I don't want to alarm anyone but the Banjo player is SINGING. 😯
Glad I'm not the only one freaking out about that 😂 Great job Banjo Guy!! 🎉🎉🎉
Yes Curtis Martin, I noticed that too! Glad to see & hear Alex singing..🎤😊
I missed it! guess i will have to watch again!
Ha! Thats fantastic!
Go Alex 😊
I’m not even close to America, I live in Azerbaijan and i am azerbaijani dude))) , but I feel homesick for West Virginia because of this song 😂
Masterpiece once made by John Denver is equally amazingly made by this people! Bravo! Especially bravo to violin lady ❤️ that’s overawesome
America needs more proud citizens! If you go through the immigration process as intended, I'd be happy to sponsor you! It might take a while, but it will be well worth it!
I learned to walk and talk, learned to read and write in the hills of West Virginia. My momma a coal miners daughter taught me how to pray in the hills of West Virginia. It will always be a special place to me.
It's so wonderful and beautiful music!👍👍👍
I may be from Alabama, not West Virginia, but this song still rings true. Country roads always will take me home
Gday! I'm 72yrs young, a country boy from a little country town, Allora, in Australia. My son lived in Pittsburgh for a while and my wife and I visited him and his wife there in 2004. I borrowed their car and toured eight states and loved it, with the first one being West Virginia. Listening to the car radio while driving, we heard Bluegrass music for the first time and loved it straight up. Coincidentally, that first bluegrass music for us came from an Aussie radio station Hawkesbury Radio, broadcasting through one of the West Virginia radio stations, how good was that! While travelling in your great land, we avoided the freeways and the blacktop (a word we had to find the meaning of 😄) and took to the country roads which is what we do back here at home. So the Country Roads song hits the spot with me. One of my favourite bluegrass bands no longer plays, but now I've found you guys, you're now top of my list. Luv yas!
Thank God for John Denver country songs
*Anyone else listen to the 90's country just to take you back to a much simpler time and wish they could go back there???*
I was born in 1975 in lower saxony in germany... but I was grown up in BAVARIA in the AUDI CITY Ingolstadt.... I can understand the song fully.... THX for this one!!!
Magnificent hillbillying Guys. That bass singer.........magic ! Harmony just as I like it. 15/10 for this memorable performance. Thanks for making my day ! Can I drop in for a mug of moonshine and bring my harmonica ?
Wow. Country music the way it should be
Thanks. I needed that. I feel that I'm not home any more since I'm now in a senior residence. No quiet any more, just roaring traffic. Thank God for music. Good music, like yours.
I don't know you but I love u. God be with
Think all in paradise sing for God...👍👍🇩🇿🇩🇿
This version is even better than the original and that's saying a lot.
Strangers to Tennessee as well fell in love not only with West Virginia, but this southern culture too❤
What a bunch of talented young musicians, well I'm 75 you know 🤠🇵🇭🇺🇲
I actually cried through this song because of the rain in the background and it reminds me of the country i lived in that I love so much?
Fifth generation Virginian/West Virginian here. I have gotten around in my life and once was discussing retirement with a good friend, a Texan, who ended up in New Mexico. We were probably in Denver. She didn’t miss a beat, but said I was a West Virginian and would never leave. Now retired I sit at about 3,000 feet in the Alleghenies of West Virginia about two hundred miles from where this song was written!
Mums funeral song 😢 doc 7 weeks later heaven fell inn. Love you mum ❤️
Really loved this!!!!From a born n breed West Virginian!!!!
here is a french fan ! ( choir conductor)so wonderful your voices matching together a perfect harmony . the sound a capella is completely perfect. and another thing which is very important : every person of your group is absolutely sympathic ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏. thank you for your gift to us!
Brings back such wonderful memories. There was a group of young men and ladies that used to get together on Friday nights (after dates), and Sunday afternoons at an old country store to play and sing, just for the joy of playing and singing. That is where I cut me teeth on learning to play good rthym guitar and singing harmony. Now, we are older men and women, some have even passed on to heaven, and this song just flooded my spirit with great memories!!! Thank you!!!
I moved to Washington State from Virginia... I will probably never be able to go back, but every time I hear "Country Roads", I sit back and remember for a spell... Your rendition made my eyes leak a bit, but they were good tears... Thank you.
friend, you should never have moved sir.
@@leonardnordenstrom6239 Nothing left for me anymore...
When I moved to West Virginia nearly 18 years ago I knew I was home. I love my country roads and mountain streams. Well done you nailed it.
I moved to east Tennessee in2012 and in a very short time I felt that way to. Driving down the roads and having people waving or going to the store and having people talk like they have known you for years. They always want to help you if you need it😃😃. That is how I was raised. Wish more people would be that way. It would be a better world I feel.
I'm in PA Appalachia. All my side of the family are in FL and SC. I also lived in NC for a time. There is some magic for sure bout WV...I've contemplated homesteading there many times.
There's also a place in my heart round the Smokies both NC and TN sides.
Years ago my former wife and I visited Cass WV. Liked it there ( road the train) . very nice and great people but don't care for all the snow, that is some of why I chose eastern Tn.
I drove through West Virginia 10 years ago with my grandfather who is now dead. The first time we saw the sign West Virginia we were astounded by how beautiful it was a few minutes later going down into this valley. My grandfather started crying because he knew his time was coming soon.. I visited West Virginia for work a few months ago and it’s very spiritual. I asked my bartender at this hotel in West Virginia if she knows how beautiful it is and why other people don’t know about it and she said… We want to keep it that way. People talk crap about the state and their people and it’s completely unjustified. I’ve never met more genuine people in my life. What you see is what you get
You chose, some beautiful part of this Country...
One of my life's premier memories is driving through West Virginia in the summer of 1973. My 3 best friends were with me, and we harmonized to "Country Roads" as we drove. . . I could barely see the road for my tears at the beauty of blended voices and scenery.
Well said sir.
Sounds like almost heaven.
Great comment!
My daughter and I drove from Canada to Florida and back in March. We passed through this marvelous landscape. I could have just stayed in West Virginia. Just beautiful!
Oh Man! How incredible!
"Чертовы южане" - шутка ребят. Вы великолепны, даже из Сибири! Молодцы, музыка это лучшее, чем могут предложить наши и ваши политики! Боюсь, в этот раз это не поможет.
I grew up in Elliott County...a little town tucked way back in the hollers and hills of Kentucky. Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs and so many others seemed to be part of most of our celebrations and grievings. The Petersen Family transports and transcends every genre and box many people have tried to squeeze bluegrass into intentionally and unwittingly. The musicality and talent and gifting of this group are beyond beautiful.
Was this filmed in Cades Cove? Never mind, I KNOW this is Cades Cove. See anything black and fuzzy? I’ve always wondered how they would react to live music. Beautiful place, but keep your head on a swivel! 😀 Beautiful song! John Denver would be proud!
I noticed that to. Posted in a earlier comment. Love these guys🎶🎵🎶😃.wish I could have been there for this.
It definitely had that feel! I know I haven’t seen all the scenic places of the South by far, but my memory was taking me to the Smokies for sure. Nice to have a confirmation on my suspicions!
You are right, so many beautiful places to see, I wish I could see more. Only get to see a couple of places in Eastern Tennessee but I love the old structures and amazed at how they built with out the use of power tools.
@@jeffharper7579 it’s hard for me to get past Dandridge Tn. There is a drop zone there called skydive East Tn. You can get a lot of scouting in and have a blast too!
This has to be Caves Cove! It's such a beautiful place too.❤
Lovely music, so pleasant to sit and listen to. Thank you to all who make my long days more livable, being 94 year old I am not so lively
Peace to you sir/maam. ❤❤❤❤
enjoy lovely lady and take care
Hope youre well Sandy..have a great day 🌹
Nostalgia..my daughter and I used to sing this song together years ago along with the original artist. Thank you so much for bringing a happy memory back to me ❤️.
I don't live in West Virginia, but I have always loved this song. Beautiful music being played by beautiful people, with beautiful hearts. Thank you for being you!
This is Cades Cove (Haywood County, NC) actually. They'rre on the porch of the Tipton Cabin.
The violin .. OOOUUAAH! I could howl like a dog....sweetest, sweetest sound...❤️
Ladies and gentlemen thank you so much!
Best regards from Italy!
💕🇮🇹🌈🇺🇲💕

Wow again.. I just sat down and saw you reply..

Sending love and peace.. Mike
Can't explain how much this song means to me and you guys covered it so beautifully. ❤️
brings tears to a persons/s eyes.
Brought a smile to this southern boy's face.
Spent time with friends in West Virginia in 1984 in the fall... there's nothing like it on this planet.... wonderful and gorgeous... still enjoy thinking about 36 years later.... Cooper's Rock... the Cheat river....
what a great song!! the "history" of this song is interesting. Denver didn't write it, nor had he ever been to west (by GOD) Virginia. he was in the Washington DC area recuperating from an auto accident when he heard the song from the couple who wrote it. he bought it, sung it and as they say ,made it a hit. the husband and wife duo would go on to write several more songs for Denver through the rest of his career
This song is beautiful. We also have it in our repertoire and my singer who is crazy about this song.
Love this song, lived 8 years in West Virginia best time of our lives❤️❤️❤️
Thanks I was born and raised in brier Creek West Virginia I have heard this song by many groups but this is the best rendition ever

Amazing,,I'm from the sticks of northern Michigan but I spent 6 years working in the southern coal fields area of WV,, the land was different but the people felt like home,,bless you guys

May God grant you good health, Christian brothers and sisters!Delight with songs and music!❤️
Is it just me, or does American want our country to be what John Denver imagined it would be? An honest, pure and beautiful country it once was for a brief spell? I do believe it that is what America wants and needs. Now more then ever.
Great tune and brilliant performance!
Best wishes from Sweden
