- It was about time we covered this John Denver classic! Our dad actually grew up in West Virginia and some of our fondest childhood memories take place in those hills. Not to mention, John Denver is a family favorite. We hope you enjoy "Take Me Home, Country Roads" as much as we do!

►LYRICS - Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gather around her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue waters
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down that road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Oh West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, down the country roads

My Musik... Thank you.. Great performance.. Strong..
Me, too!
Their harmony is just out of this world. No words can truly express how beautiful they sound.
They are siblings. It is not that difficult.
The look the lead singers sister gives when she starts singing is one of absolute pride.
I am a simple man from Siberia, but to this song I heard the murmur of a river, I caught the scent of roadside herbs and saw the mountains of West Virginia. Thank.
Konstantin you are now officially under KGB survaillance
You're right, It's a beautiful song, and they all did a really lovely job :)

How do I move to Siberia? I like extreme cold and being by myself and nature. How’s the jobs there? What do you guys need?
There’s some things in American Culture that should never die and will never fade, and this is kind of music is definitely one of them. 🇺🇸
America is a young country but has so much things to tell. I was 9yo when I first heard american country music, which is not popular at all, here in France, and I love listening to it while drinking my coffee every morning. I hope i'll be able to go to west virginia or Utah one day to see those wonderful landscapes. For now i'm just practicing my english and reading about the american History (not the Hollywood one) 🤠
I agree.

I was born and raised in West Virginia and still live here. You all did a wonderful job singing and playing this song. Thank you ❤
Katie just lights up the room with her smile, and her singing is sweeter than honey.
The singer has one of the purest voices I've ever heard. Effortlessly beautiful.
As an American far away from our beautiful shores and my beautiful country roads, thank you for this rendition, brought tears to my eye.
Saw John Denver do this live in Perth Australia in 1975. Never forgotten! Played the old cassette tape till it broke or tangled. Your rendition is wonderful, thank you for sharing!
was that at subiaco oval or the 'entertainment centre' (neither exist now)... 😞
A little piece of Heaven that still exists in America... God bless them.
This version of this song changed my life. Cleaned me up. Got me sober. Helped me love my family the way they deserve. Thank you petersens from a fellow Missourian
That's fantastic to hear.☺️
That's seriously beautiful. I hope they see this
That's wonderful! Out of curiosity, how so?
how did a song do that? You just liked it that much? I'm asking for serious, not being mean.
@@admiralbonetopick600 sometimes it’s like a song was written just for you.
Is no one gonna shout out Grandma for her incredible bass playing?! She killed it
This music is sublime. Organic and pure. What a pleasure to discover this.
Being a West Virginian, we tend to be very protective of people singing a song that means so much to our beautiful state that we are so proud of. But after hearing The Petersen’s singing of the song it did what John Denver’s singing does every time and that’s bring a tear to my eye. Thank you for performing such a very special performance of our beloved song.
Matt and Jon born in WV. Jon is WVU and Marshall grad
I've said this before, but watch these folks perform very carefully. This is how it's done. No amplifiers, no dancers, no fancy stage effects, no auto-tune. Just a lot of talent and hard work doing something they clearly love. You can tell they're having fun too. And whoever does their arrangements - great job!!
Amen.....and Mom bringin' up the baseline...family counts
Yes...the Petersen Family is just incredible! So talented! I have seen them perform in concert three times now out in Branson, Missouri! Here is another family that also performs out there in Branson. czcams.com/video/XdnwbA4ssWU/video.html
Saw this live in Glasgow on September 1st at Oran Mor. Couldn't taste the moonshine but I had a teardrop in my eye. Will never forget...
Dislocated hillbilly here this brought tears to my eyes, God bless you , OUTSTANDING

I'm from where John Denver's grandma lived & took care of her till her passing. I knew his family & met him. He & the family would love how you did this song. Thank You!!
Katie has a special and rare depth in her voice. she made that song come alive in a way as if it had been sung in heaven itself
We had a local musician play this song at our son's funeral and i love listening to this families performance. It touches my heart each time i hear it.
My Grandparents had a cabin in West Virginia back in the 1950s through 1970s. When I was little, we'd occasionally travel there to hang out, and this song had to be sung somewhere along the road or it just wasn't right.
Katie's smile is almost heaven.
Creep
@@Uncle1776Sam you don't get the joke. One of the lines in the song is "almost heaven"
I'm a "big, tough truck driver", and your music moves me to tears. John Denver did his job, but you do it better. I can't say enough about how your music moves me. Keep on keepin' on. Please. I love it
Ditto, bubba, ditto!!!!!
great words brian--keep the shiny side shiny
Keep on truckin' brother!
Keep it between the ditches brother. My dad and brother were truck drivers, much respect to a profession that most people don't understand.
nobody can sing this song better than john denver
Hello, I'm Brazilian and I would like to congratulate all of you. all with a lot of talent and wonderful voices. I'm your fan.
Very few people - VERY few could have done this justice in the way you all did. Incredibly well done. Excellent voice and tone.
As an older gent still existing in an ever changing world, it's refreshing to see a mainly younger generation group that can interpret a song written well before they were born, re-arrange it in a bluegrass style, but perhaps even adding more feeling and emotion than the original. The harmony and feel, different than the original, but still the same. I feel sure that John would be smiling! You are a shining light so needed in our times. Thank you!
My sentiment exactly!
Bill Danoff and (then-)wife Taffy Nivert ("aka, Fat City"), who wrote this song, are both still alive, I believe. They'll probably smile at this performance, too, if they find it.
Fred
I really love a good pedal steel but you know what? That Dobro was mighty fine. I don’t even need to mention the ladies beautiful harmonies.
You could'nt have sayed it any better!
They're great musicians and singers and Looking good as well!
Totally awesome and Totally Agreeably.
I’m a West Virginia resident and I’ve listened to many versions of this song. This is the best by far. The singing and the music in this song is absolute top notch.
This song is about the western part of Virginia. The Shanannoah valley is in Virginia not West Virginia. Just a little fact.

One of my favorite songs of John Denver, by one of my favorite country bands.... I'm in heaven !
I'm from Nairobi ,have never set my foot out of Kenya ,but I'm now missing west Virginia, beutful people, beutful voices
The way the girl on the left smiles at 0:17 for no particular reason other than perhaps she’s happy to be singing this song with her family, is gold.
so pure.
That would be Julianne Petersen. What you're seeing there is pure joy; her being in the moment, unforced, unpretentious, and unscripted. It's like an award winning photograph. It's a unique and special moment in time.
@@SanjaySingh-oh7hv Yes, it is very special. You can see the same smile in the older videos when she was a little girl!

Whenever we cross over the river into WV when going to my wife’s family reunion she blares this song on the radio over and over. And I don’t get tired of it
Soooooo good. Not an ounce of auto tune in sight. Just pure talent.
Awesome version, John Denver would be proud of this.
My mother was an alcoholic in the late 70's,and when she was on a bender, she would play this until she passed out. She passed away in 1984. I hated the song for 30 years, but in the past 10 years have grown to embrace the words, and enjoy the songs message as a 60 year old.
I feel happy for you!
Man, I respect you for that.
What a nice cover ! I am a Japanese but once lived in Virginia as a UVA student. The Blueridge mountains still remain as a good memory of that time, and I love this old heart-warming song !
Really appreciate your comments. What did you study in UVA
Wonderful. Im not american, and i've lived always in a big city in the other side of the world, (Madrid), but for me, it's still absolutely precious. Good Job.
I would be so happy driving through West Virginia while listening to this song over and over.
How nice to see clean, young people and listen to their beautiful, normal singing. Hello everyone from distant Latvia.
Glad you are there, somewhere
I've been wanting to go to Latvia for a while. I have a lot of family there. 🇱🇻🇺🇸
The singer looks to her sister and smile the way we can see pure love
This was so pleasing to listen to especially during these dark times the country is going through. Classic traditional American family singing such a classic American song. Just beautiful.
Every member of this family is extremely talented 👏
Came back to this song over and over.
The smiles, the style, the performance, the atmosphere they create, so perfect.
Me too! Just can’t help myself.
I'm not American, but the essence of the song is "missing home". As an immigrant, Ulysses' Syndrome will always exist. The world is big, but a piece of your heart will always stay in your home.
When I feel that nostalgia for my homeland, I listen to you and you comfort me. Thank you guys.
Well said
I love west virginia, my heart is around washington and arlington, i was there 2018 in vacation. We made big daytrips from there. The singing was so wonderfull
I recall a young man that would be very proud of y’all for doing his song justice.
Bill Danoff is still alive.
You guys have no idea how therapeutic this song is during these times...a simple ‘thank you’ isn’t enough to show my appreciation 💛
They bring it home, they do, each and every time.
Stuff like this......what we used to have, and what the world is missing now......The family band, doing what they love.....please, don’t ever stop.
Same here never stop going foreword.
Yes John is looking down and saying "carry on, don't stop."
Thanks to CZcams feed for introducing me to The Petersens and God Bless The Petersens for representing everything that is best and glorious and serene and hopeful about all the world's humanity. In an ideal world they would play at least one gig in every country in the world...everyone should watch them perform at least once. The world would be a better place afterwards...❤🙏
Very beautiful. It is important that we keep this alive for our future generations.
Most precious thing about this wonderful group is the way they all smile at each other with genuine love and joy and pride about each other. Smiles like these are powerful.....
Ladies, that harmony is just breaking my heart, joyous!
I'm Japanese, but I really like this song.I'm tearing up.

I've seen too many people try singing this song and completely change it so much that it does a disservice to the original Denver version. This is one of the few times that it was sung similar to John Denver's but also with the rendition being her own in just a subtle way. I absolutely love it.

sure John Denver will have a big smile on his face he would be proud
Why? He discarded all the tree hugging stuff and went Hollyweird. Plastic Surgery and Lasik on his eyes. Screw making an album or writing songs. He had tons of money and now he was going to spend it. Unfortunately, one of those things was an E-Z Flyer a one man airplane and not an ultralight as was reported. These things are sold as kits and must be assembled.John Denver bought his already assembled. He was flying along the coast of his new home, California, when something went wrong and he plummeted to his death on the coast.
I have a different "Why?"
John Denver didn't write this song; Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert did. (Bill and Taffy were "Fat City," Denver's backup band; later, with another couple, they were Starland Vocal Band, of "Afternoon Delight" fame.) John is given some of the credit; he helped, but it basically wasn't his.
He sure did a beautiful job recording it, of course.
Bill, or Bill and Taffy, have writing credits on several of John's hits. And there are some which John himself wrote.
