Dolly’s version is still the best imo. Miley has a much more powerful and technically good voice, but I still think Dolly’s voice was the perfect voice for this song. She inhabited the role of the person singing this song flawlessly.

I mean, she has spent her whole life growing up in the spotlight, so how can you really expect for her to grow up "normal?" Everyone makes mistakes when they're growing up and trying to find themselves, and I can only imagine how even more distorted and confusing it is to try and navigate through those years when you're famous and that is all you know. Talent-wise, she definitely has a real gift.

In a comment section like this, I’m glad I have a great appreciation for diversity in music styles, meanings, etc. I don’t see a need to compare song versions, so I thoroughly respect Dolly’s original version - as well as Miley and Beyoncé’s renditions. Many artists’ do covers in their own artistically creative way all the time, but suddenly one cover “ruins” the song. Not true- the other versions still exist which fit your palette better, while a newer take on a song may suit someone else better. That’s why music styles, genres, and creativity don’t need to be categorically strict. (Hint: one overarching point of Beyoncé’s new album). Will keep coming back for Miley’s rendition always ❤

It's the parents' job to decide what is suitable for their child or not and if they don't find miss Cyrus suitable, then they have every power in their hand to stop their child from watching/looking up to her.
