Why Are Car Drivers So Picked On? A Motorist Rant on Speed Limits, Car Tax and Electric Vehicles

  • Motorists have had enough. Why are car drivers targeted and picked on so harshly? Speed limits seem unfair in SOME cases, car tax continues to rise and are electric vehicles actually a good thing or a case of a bad knee-jerk reaction placating the green agenda?

    It wont be long before Big Brother tech inside the car is watching how we drive and we get automatic fines without even needing speed cameras.🥺

    In the usa, we are fine at +12-15 over. Most of these limit numbers, in mph, are ridiculous and pointless

    Maybe we just need more car tracks and be let loose on! Take speed off the streets.

    • @RevMonkey

      Track days are getting more popular. Am now doing a few a year myself.
      We need more tracks. Even then, the anti noise nutters soon protest.
      It will only be electric cars on tracks one day. 😂

    I have great respect for the Police that tackle proper crime and I do understand that cars can kill or main but, in the main, speeding tickets just piss off the entire population and damages how we think of the police force.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah, I know what you mean. Its like the punishment does not fit the crime.
      It does 'seem' that there is a lot of their focus being spent on drivers breaking the speed limit and, worse, where it is not even dangerous to anyone.

    We all speed, and some of us speed regularly and some speed way too fast. Just needs to have punishments that fit the actual real specifics of the offence like you described. 👍

    The main problem with electric cars right now is that they are simply too expensive to get into and later running costs might be the stuff of nightmares.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci

      100%. This puts off a lot of people. If prices do not tumble then, along with actual EV running cost rises, it will struggle more than it should do.

  • @chrisbrown7754

    That 20 mph limit is a farce. So keep the cars puffing out smoke for even longer just where you don't want the smoke.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah/ A faster car will put out more but it is over quicker. I wonder what the real science behind this is.

      I believe Porsche amongst others are getting closer. Indeed, the German car industry seems to be going all out for this.
      Being cynical it might be that they the most to lose as Tesla and other higher end EV cars are eating into their business.

      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci

      😀
      Yep, don't want to be the first but great that people report these things.
      It is often a van in the layby pointing down a dual carriageway with a 60 mph limit.
      Now - if it is raining badly then people over 60 should get an immediate warning and people doing, say, over 75 should get the points and fine.
      BUT - if it is sunny and quiet then 85 to 100 , in a modern sports car with an experienced driver, should only ever get the warning. That is kind of my whole point - time and place.

  • @DavidRogers994

    Question! Would you actually pay extra money to be able to go faster on certain roads? The technology is already there to see what speeds we do from point to point. Rather than giving us possibly job endangering points for minor speeding how about they just automatically charge us for the speed difference. So kind of like polls and average speed cameras in one. They still make their money.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci

      In short, Yes! As I most often drive for pure pleasure and do not want the restrictions on speed IF it adds to that fun - in a SAFE enviuronment.
