This entire album is a masterpiece IMO.
Love the tears that fill my bong lyric
Hahaha yeah it says sooo much!
This album fuckin rules, one of the best comeback albums of all time. Jerry Cantrell is one of the best to ever do it
I love the music video to this song Alice in Chains rocks
Awesome band! They have such a strong identity and mood where you know immediately, "Ahh fuck yeah this is Alice In Chains"... Like Soundgarden, heavily influenced by Black Sabbath they just have this HEAVY HEAVY sound!
You should do a reaction to this album. It was the first one they did after Layne died, and it was very important to the band and their ability to heal following his overdose. A lot of the tracks have to do with saying goodbye to him, and the final track "Black Gives Way To Blue" is their tribute song to him, with special guest Elton John on the piano.
This always sounded like a warped vinyl record to me. Love it😅
It's guitarist Jerry Cantrell doing the main voice with William DuVall backing up. Check out Jerry Cantrell solo. Cut You In and Devil By His Side. Since Jerry Cantrell writes the songs for Alice In Chains it doesn't change the sound that much with a new singer
I've been with AIC since the very beginning. So, why is this my favorite song of theirs? I honestly don't know. It's very hypnotic, I never get tired of it. They put some Ju Ju on this one🤣
Yes "Talk" album, released 1994!!! Excellent Masterpiece album....Every song is a masterpiece.....great stuff!!! It's hard hitting Folk music mixed with Heavy metal...and grunge!!!! The the last song Endless Dream is a Masterpiece song up there with Awaken....Gates of Delirium....Close To the Edge...Just a very positive hopeful song...and Jon Anderson sing the best he has ever sung in his career!!!!! I can't wait to see your reaction to this album "Talk" by YES!!!!
Not sure if you know but this is a new singer. After Layne Staley died.
I did not know. Now I have to go back a listen to a older song and compare the two
Layne jumped into the new singer's body and continued singing, don't you know? How else do you explain that it is LITERALLY Layne singing here?
The new singer blends well with guitarist and back up vocalist Jerry Cantrell much like Layne did. Their sound is so unique and dark/awesome at the same time.
A stellar and unique band that doesn't get enough recognition just like Blue Oyster Cult doesn't.
@@WILBURNREACTIONS he sounds very similar. He’s no Layne Staley but very talented. And he nails the harmonies
The Cult. “ELECTRIC “. Amazing album. Every song is a banger! 🔥
My favorite band in high school when they came out . Me old
One of the things that I found out recently that I wasn’t aware of, and this gives them their sound in their music. They down tune a half a step. It’s kind of the official Alice In Chains tuning. Instead of E,A,D,G,B,E, they tune down a half step to Eb,Ab,Db,Gb,Bb,Eb. They do use some other tunings, but down tuning a half step is pretty much their thing. Piece of trivia for you. It definitely gives them their sound.
A really good album review would be Queens of the Stone Age. Like clock work.. trust me mang
Like clockwork rules, the live version of i appear missing is the GOAT QOTSA song in my book
Kate Bush "Hounds of Love" album. You have already reacted to one song off the album "Running Up That Hill".
alice in chains dirt album reaction
Chod, I think you're confusing Alice in Chains with Alice cooper as to the complete album you reacted to in the past. This is AIC after Layne Staley, the original singer, passed.
Give a listen to Queensryche's Empire album. Any one song kind of works, but in the context of the ensemble of songs...there's a whole greater than the sum of the parts.
May I suggest claypool's high ball with the devil 4an album reaction
I like that they intro their song in dissonant and kind of annoying ways to set a benchmark tone...then the upward movement from dissonant to "neutral sounds "upbeat" They are kinda annoying until the "drop". Get me?
Is it a good or a bad thing when you hire a new singer that try/do sound same as the original one?
This how changes my opinion. I did not know this
Will does not try to sound like Layne, they sound nothing alike. What you hear is Jerry's harmonies blending with Will. He does this in the same way he did with Staley, so they sound similar together, but Will himself does not , nor does he try to, sound like Layne.
@@Footsoldier1234 Ok but what we the listeners hear are two guys sounding the same/very similar in the finished product.
@@Wither81 In a song like this, yes, because the entire song is harmonies. Any song where they sing separate or where Will simply sings lead, it's apparant he sounds nothing like Layne. "Hung on Hook", "Last of my kind", "Rainier Fog", and "Stone" are all good examples. You can also find dozens of live performances of Will singing "Nutshell", as they play it at almost every show in honor of Layne and Mike, and the difference in their vocal techniques is very apparant. A lot of times people accuse him of trying to sound like Layne because they are biased and offended that he took Layne's old position in the band (not saying you). But in actuality, Will prefers to sing high notes, as opposed to the deeper, darker approach Layne did. For the approach Will takes to the songs, he does a good job. If he did actually try to imitate Layne's vocal style it would sound like garbage, just like everyone else who has tried to imitate him like Sully from Godsmack.
@@Footsoldier1234 Thanks for this, I will check those songs out and listen to wills live performance of Nutshell (my fav AIC track). I will be back if I still think they sound the same ;)
Layne Staley doesn’t sing on this album.
Meh, didn’t care for this one too much. Am looking forward to Maggot Brain, that’s gonna be epic. 🔥
