As a Canadian, she was my queen, and a queen in the hearts of many the world over. She devoted her life to public service, and was an inspirational woman of such character. Her selflessness, dignity, strength and love of country were unmatched.

She isn't one to show her emotions but I think it's safe to say that you're absolutely correct. She must miss him terribly and even being surrounded by your children and grandchildren doesn't cover it. She feels something she has never felt before with the loss of her husband whom shes been with her entire adult life. My Uncle John lost my Aunt Audrey this past summer in Scotland. They're married for 60 years and he makes his way to her grave every day and then back to their lonely home. It's heartbreaking and scary.

my sympathies & condolences to you, and to the Queen. I've been wondering how shes been getting along, it has to be soo very hard. My Nan lost my PopPop recently, as well. They were together 72 years! Shes 95 now, and She just misses him terribly. She cries at least once an hour. Poor thing. Shes strong, though, like the Queen is, I'm sure of it.

When the "Fim" came to NZ on a visit prior too Charles being married to Diana, Philip was like a sheep dog rounding up an 'erant' Charles who was wanting to meet & greet - something his mother failed to do, as she stuck firmly in the middle of the walk-space, not looking anywhere but Strait ahead.
I met Charles, however briefly, before Philip came up & shooed Charles back into mid stream.
Charles has been met with on tour with the Duchess since & a good conversation ensued with both partys.

Prince Philip was an amazing man. I am sure he was great strength for the Queen; most especially at the sudden death of her father George VI in 1952. It was heartbreaking to see the Queen sitting by herself at his funeral.
Prince Philip isn’t really gone. Gosh I can feel the essence of the man just by watching old documentaries in black and white, hearing his witty comments and rather uncouth opinions,to me they are hilarious. A grand gentleman who stood up to his role and right beside his wife. He is still right beside our Queen. For a man to take second seat to his wife, he played out his role as Queens consort admirably. No, Philip is still with us as long as we remember.

I feel for Charles also, leaving him to nannies already as a baby & shaking his hand when his mum & dad come home. As soon as he was of school age, off to boarding school he goes. Prince Phillip was quoted as saying that he thinks of his daughter, Princess Anne as the " son" he wishes he had..( because Charles was a sensitive child & she was rougher around the edges)... who says that about their child?? Growing up with $, living in a nice house with nice clothes & good food is irrelevant when a parent emotionally neglects a child. I know this from experience.. I had all of that as a kid. The abuse in my family started at age 3 & that impacted my life forever. I already had ptsd as a kid because of this..so the house & all means nothing. I still feel that Charles will be a good king despite his early years.
