Had some time to mess around with the F-4, mostly in singleplayer, and thought I'd collect my thoughts together in a quick video for those of you who are on the fence.

I can’t stop listening to aircrew interview podcasts about this plane- never had much interest before as it had the stigma of being a brick! It’s such a fun plane trying to keep it fast and just survive until you have a golden opportunity for a kill is a great challenge. About the cpu hit- I have a 5800x3d and don’t seem to have any radar issues as pilot or WSO. My fps drops are unit quantity and also gpu related I think- when there’s lots of smoking stuff on screen. Thanks for all your videos!
In all honestly, I feel like the “bad fighter” reputation is a little oversold. Yes, at low speeds you’re going to struggle. But it rates surprisingly well above 400kts, and you have more than enough power to boom and zoom. I’ve seen a lot of people starting to find genuine success on servers such as contention. Just because it doesn’t fight like most, that doesn’t mean it cant fight well at all :)
For me, this is the new acceptable minimum standard for all new modules going forward

I'm going to avoid flying the F4 in multiplayer servers i.e ECW for now.. Performance is just too bad for me right now in VR
its hard to believe anything when the f4 flies marginally bouncier than the 21
It's very smooth for me as long as I have the ascf enabled
@@Dr_Jebus do you play with any dead zones? because i never touch any axis tuning options, also I have a VKB and it has a very loose center which i like for minute adjustments but on the f4 it feels super sensitive there way more sensitive than the rest of the stick travel.
@@DessertUnicorn no deadzones but I have the roll and pitch curvature on about 15% which is what I use for most modules
@@Dr_Jebus i’ll give that a shot and see, i used to fly a lot of f18 and f16 and feel like you can get away with no tuning in those even for AAR, but they do get fly by wite
@@DessertUnicorn I've got a VKB with no dead zones and 15% roll and pitch curvature, and the only time I've felt "bounciness" is when I've forgotten to flip the AFCS stab aug switches on startup 😅
it's not supposed to be a great fighter though so I don't get those complaints at all.
Can't wait for the Eurofighter, that's my baby, THAT'S made for dogfighting!
When it comes to liveries, I always remember RAZBAM, who did not give us vietnamese and egyptian liveries for the MiG-19. What a lazy bunch that one is!
Yeah, the 19 is disappointing with it's default set. I like a couple of the snow camo ones but it's very bare bones even now. I love the F4 ones though. Especially the JADF ones. So pretty
