As a former 15J, this video makes me happy and sad. I miss my baby. I left the Army after they retired the Kiowa. That aircraft was so fun to work on and fly. I need to get my own system now, so i can fly again.
Edit: double hellfire racks were always my favorite set up (until some ome dropped the rack before mounting), next to one rocket pod and the m3p 50 cal machine gun
One more thing i found pretty fun flying KW: you can set up artillery friends nearby ->scout targets for them->call artillery strike-> kill whats left
I’ve seen a Kiowa in real life before. This guy knows nothing.
(Kidding, thanks for saving me so much time and bringing this module to my attention!)
This has become hands down my favorite helicopter! The more I learn about it the more I grow to appreciate it.
Nice idea with the F-16s, really adds some "atmosphere" :D
Good stuff as always. Seeing her pop out of the dust from the FARP at 1:44 is just cool👍
The RWR is hilarious and darn, those bombs are scary.

@@syngyne I've been trying to place the voice. Thank you. No matter what it actually is, that's what it is now as far as I'm concerned lol.
I really enjoy your content thank you for your service man. Your missions are so legit and I like your storylines too.
I never thought ANY helo could supplant the Apache as my favorite, but the Kiowa has done exactly that. And I don't know why or how it happened. The Apache is superior to the Kiowa in every single category. Fire power, agility (well, that's a close call) sensors, speed, defensive system, etc...yet I am addicted to the underdog in this case. I know in the Apache I can absorb some damage and still fight. Every time I get hit in the Kiowa I am spiraling to my death. I can't explain it. And Casmo's videos and insight into both make it all the better. I am sure it's just because it's so new and the novelty hasn't wore off and the Apache will once again be King. But until that happens...
;Great video! I have been training with the Kiowa for about 1week and absolutely love it
Simple, seems realistic and the best part, competent and effective aircrew coordination. Nice job!
Maybe the best Casmo video so far. Loved this.
Very cool mission setup. Thanks for sharing 😀👍🏻🤘🏻
dude that MMS rocket strike was cool! its obviously not super accurate or effective in DCS but still badass! ill have to try that carrying 2 pods ;)
Awesome work.
Great video as always. !!
Hell yeah, this is the kind of mission work I love to see!
One great thing with the Apache is going "Why shouldn't I have a FARP 15 minutes from the targets?" and then giving myself a beautiful jumping off point so I can quickly take off and then weave through some trees and rivers to get to my attack point.
Can't wait to finally sort out my constant crashes and try it online with people in the Kiowa and other Apaches.
Fat cow ops brings back memories! 101st AIR ASSAULT!
Nice video thanks!
Super cool the Kiowa is definitely a hit
Damn, that airstrike!
man I'm so happy DCS has new helis coming
Nice one
So very cool
@CasmoTV, it doesn't look like you're having ANY fun with the Kiowa....... ;)
Nice mission, really shows how we can use (or in my case try to use) the Kiowa in ways others modules can't do as easily.
Understand if you can't answer this (not sure if it strays into too much details of real world stuff) but when the SA8 briefly tracked you would that mean a big problem (if dcs ai was better) , ie they know you're there and the risk is possibly too great to hang around or continue.... or would that just be a brief blip on the enemy radar that could be anything from their point of view... Something you could get away with.
Just trying to get an idea of what to aim for in a mission like this.
I was wondering the same thing. I know in DCS, even with the Skynet mod, I still get regularly lit up briefly by AAA and SAM systems before ducking back behind a hill. I would imagine in real life this might have units watching your location more closely, so I could see it being a reason to relocate or try to come back another day if possible.
I mean… if they know I’m there… what’re they gonna do about it? Trying to stop convoys and all that… changes don’t happen fast.
@@CasmoTV Makes sense. Glad to see my "What are they gonna do, shoot me?" mentality works!
@@CasmoTV Yeah, makes sense. Thanks for the answer and the tutorial vids.
Would you ever use mounted gun and unguided rockets on night missions? It needs a laser pointer aim device. ;o)
Curious as to which map you find the most pleasing to the eye for flying helicopters (low level / hiding spots etc)?
How do you get AI to make a bomb run like that? I tried the other night and both fighters go after same group or they don’t drop or they break off before going in.
Don’t make them a flight of two. Have two single ships drop on different targets.
You did voice over for HB on some F4E missions? Covey 4-1 on the mission of the same name sounds just like you
I did some for Reflecteds phantom campaign but not for HB
@@CasmoTV maybe it was a reflected mission I am about 95% certain that was you. Yeah just double checked it was a reflected mission.
@arguy3297 then it was probably me.
Grass entering the cockpit when on the ground feels like it should be such an easy fix.
Some sort of simple edge detection at the underside of player vehicles which despawns the grass if it's clipping through.
Casmo great video. Few questions for ya. What map and the Chinook FARP, what units do you use for them. I have FARP templates already but really like the Chinook ones ever since you showed it awhile back. Thank you in advance.
this looks like the kola map, nut sure though
Concerning the „fat cow“ (refueling point with CH47) I design it that way in the ME: I place a tank truck in this spot and above this truck a static CH47 that covers the tanker truck completely. As the static CH47 covers the tanker completely it „looks“ like a fat cow. You need additionally the invisible farp point and the command humvee as in each normal farp (this could also be covered underneath another ch47).
Setting it up that way you can create a refueling point with a fat cow that is really operational.
Hope that helps (and hope my description was not too hard to understand).
Thank you. I was thinking that just wanted a second set of eyes about it.
In order to use Hellfires in Kiowa, I have 2 choices, map the co-pilot's controls or use AI to fly the chopper for me, while I find, target and shoot the missile as second pilot? This is very different from the Hind, where Petrovich finds the targets for me, IFF's them, locks them up and I give him permission to fire. Can I use George AI Petrovich style for the Apache? I know how to fly the Hind, KA 50 and Gazelle. I am thinking of buying the Kiowa and Apache and I just want to make sure it is for me. I want to fly the chopper myself, i do not want AI to fly it for me. I would like to have AI to find targets for me and lock them up - Petrovish style in the Hind. Or, like in KA 50, I do everything myself while relying on autopilot. Thanks a lot !
Will you be doing a video on the M4? Or is it needing an update?
No time to do that
which one do you enjoy more, kiowa or apache?
Is the IR Jammer in DCS actually doing something against heatseekers?
I've never actually had it work, even on rear aspect launches
Yes
Please make a vid about entering jtac coordinates to make target points and buddy lasing. When lasing i only ever get coordinates for my location not the target location.. no idea what im doing wrong. Everyone else that ive talked with that "knows" ..soon realizes they are getting their own location as well😅
Watch my navigation video
Why is there grass coming through the floor in a 60 pound module?
Great vid as usual
The grass is coming through the floor in every module. You just don't drive your jets where you could see it.
Similar to the rain while sitting inside a hardened aircraft shelter (something that's bugged me for years!). Don't let it spoil your enjoyment of the game. ED will eventually fix it, hopefully by the time I retire in a few years and have more time to play 😂
How do you have such awesome rudder controls lol. I have the t16000m pedals
He uses a high end pedal (Virpil ACE). I used the T16k pedals for a while and it is very hard to use even with Nyogel. I moved on to Thrustmaster TPR since.
@@mhirroaceroyportillo875 gotcha, that would make sense. Let me tell you I’m constantly fighting those pedals when flying helicopters. Thanks
Those 16's were AI, right? This is a really cool mission.
Yes
True democracy delivered right there, for sure it "looks clean" after those tax payers CBU drops. 😂
🙂👍
stephen hawking RWR???
😂
Chinook mobile FARP system when?
Limited fuel, limited weapons, no repair...you know...
When you use your imagination.
Fat cow capability would be awesome
Hi Casmo, this post is not very important for you and you probably will not remember but there is something that I have to say to be fair toward you and myself.
Some time back I have unsubscribed from your channel because of the mess Razbam created with F15-E pre-release; all content creators were putting up their videos and you were the only one that pushed back, I praised you for that and respected your decision. Unfortunately you changed your mind and that caused me to unsubscribe. Just want to let you know, that it was unfair for me to judge your decision as I did. After all, Razbam created the situation in which content creators were put in very unfortunate position, and you did at least acknowledge the issue which is more than others did. Although on paper, my decision appeared to be right at the time, it was wrong. As I said above, not really important for you if I apologise, but it is important for me to apologise if the apology is warranted, and it is in this case, so I do apologise, I will subscribe back and continue to watch you content, which was always fantastic. Thank you.
Very kind. Welcome back.
How the last few years showed how stupid such a scenario would have been is obvious. Nowadays it's downright criminally unrealistic. One guy with a Grail in that forest right next to you - Mission over! Even a AK could get you before you know what hit ya. Also before you reach that SAM you may have to run through a gauntlet of other defenses. No one with a clear mind would put his SAM right on the Frontline with no forward defense in form of shoulder fired ATGM, Manpad. In Afghanistan that wasn't so much of a problem - They didn't have SAM's or Manpads. In a Cold War Scenario you'd lose half of the Squadron before you reach a SAM with this kind of behaviour. But it's fun, nonetheless :)
That’s like me saying “building a bank right there is so stupid. One Bonnie and Clyde and it’ll get robbed!”
Obviously setting things like this up require intel, security, planning…
These comments are really annoying and since the Ukraine war you hear them all the time.
But it shows (to me) that most of the people do not get the facts.
In the Vietnam war the US lost 8.000 Hueys but nobody would have discussed about the effectiveness of helicopters.
The same comes to tanks. Lot of people state that tanks are no more useful as the Ukraine war proves.
This is just not right. If you look at the losses, you will realize that they are a result of poor tactics, poor intel and the lack of combined arms.
Using a tank to drive over a minefield works neither with a Leopard 2 nor with an M1.
Same occurs to the IFV Marder or Bradley.
Those weapon systems are designed to act in a close combination with others (anti-air to protect them from attack helicopters, IFV together with tanks to protect each other from enemy tanks and infantry) and to follow doctrines and tactics they were designed for.
Additionally it is a question of training of all involved parts.
All of the above is not given in the Ukraine war (or only to a very limited extend). And based on this you cannot judge the effectiveness of those weapon systems, including scout and attack helicopters.
