    Thank you for actually cranking the mower so that we could hear the sound that it's making so that we can compare, haha. The other videos that I looked at, they just said it's making a noise and then spend the next 15 minutes trying to describe it and what it might be👍

    Great diagnosis. I would have figured it was a spindle making the noise unless it just made it with the clutch. Good fix.

  • @JohnSmith-uy7sv

    it was just the bearings needed to be repacked. I pop the bearing shields out every few years and force grease into them with my finger and keep stuffing and rubbing it it until it takes no more. The pulleys were fine. Mine look worse than that and they make no noise or harm the belts. The bearing race was dry. cheaper and easier fix that I just did again the other day. very simple.

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  Před rokem

      Do whatever you want. The pulleys run about 10 bucks. It’s not a big deal.

      @@hanksgarage_ I said not to buy the pulleys......NEVER EVER. I said you did a good job showing others what to do. I just told you of an easier way to pack the grease into the race. Like packing wheel bearings years ago.I have saved many bearings over the years doing it that way. 🙂

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  Před rokem

      That’s what I’m saying. The bearings are included in the new pulleys. I’m saying do whatever you want but at the end of it the new part is 10 bucks

      @@hanksgarage_ Think of the hamburgers you could of had at McDonalds or milk shakes or cones??? 😁 I've gotten you confused with a previous video where the guy pulled the cover caps off of the bearings and repacked the races like I have done for many years. They will last forever, unless the plastic breaks apart, then yes, You have to get another pulley. One of mine has had part of the bottom lip broken off. But it never affected the belt, so I just leave it on and repack it every few years with my small yard. Sorry about the mix up. DUH.🙄🙄😀😀

    • @hanksgarage_
      @hanksgarage_  Před rokem +1

      I want to say one or 2 of these pulleys was pretty worn in. The plastic doesn’t hold up all that well over time. Repacking it may have bought another year but I wouldn’t be surprised if the pulley fell apart afterwards

    Had an idler pulley go bad on my LT150. Pulley was well worn, making noise, and it was starting to wear on the belt that I installed about a year ago. Turns out that the bearing on the pulley went out. It was grinding pretty bad. Once I replaced it, the noise stopped and it seems like the tractor now moves quicker.

    Great video! Do you have a video on how to change out the drive belt? I have a Deere model 135 that I want to change the drive belt. Doesn’t look too complicated, mostly awkward, working under the mower. Wondering about any torque specs like on the bolt that holds on the main pulley coming off the engine, I believe it’s a 5/8”. Thanks for vid, appreciated. 👍👍. Subscribed.

    My LA145 is making the same noise,so I bought the replacement pulleys.I'm doing them in the same order as you.I can't get the second pulley off though.The short,threaded shaft the pulley mounts to is rotating with the nut.Has it broken loose from the bracket?It feels smooth on top,like there's no weld or anything.I don't want to have to replace the bracket too.I sprayed it with WD40.Maybe I should spray it some more and let it soak for awhile?
    Update:I just saw another video featuring an X300 with apparently the same setup.The shafts for the pulleys were removable from the bracket.So I may have to remove the bracket to finish the process.

    Now I really feel like a dummy. I just paid the service center to have those pulleys changed out and to have the valves adjusted. Had I known how simple it was to fix these issues I would have saved myself some cash. My machine has only 190 hours on it, seeing that these pulleys have sealed bearings in them I think they might have failed a little early.
