    You are an awesome man in everyway. Your video is clear and to the point. You are an outstanding mechanic, and not a bad videographer. Above all, your presentation is EXCELLENT! And you sound like a pretty nice guy. Thanks for taking the time to post this!

    Thanks for your video. It was really helpful. I was able to replace the belt without removing the clutch. It wasn’t easy, but I was afraid to make a mistake with the wiring issues. I also only loosened the “vee” (brake?) pulley to get the old belt off and the new belt on. My X320 seemed to be missing the guide that is next to the brake pulley. I will check on that in the morning. I wasn’t able to find a spring puller, so I cut four or five inches of wire coat hanger, sharpened the end, bent it into a hook, and used vice grips to hold it. It worked fine. I would not have been able to complete the job without your video and one other that is on CZcams. Thanks a million!

    You are a perfect match for making fiber clear, exceptionally worded instructional videos! My drive train belt broke on an X380, and there are some differences to your X320, but your close-up, amazingly focused video shots made this job far less painful than trying to find a John Deere parts image showing exactly where the belt travels...I never found a picture. Thank you very much!!

    Thank you very, very much for making this video. It showed me many things that saved me time trying to figure out.
    At 12:08 you were lucky enough to squeeze the belt between that bar and the bracket. On my mower there is literally no way to do that. It simply is too small a space to fit that into. I had to figure out how to loosen that bar in order to get the belt through. That took awhile to do. Too bad JD doesn't try a little harder to engineer that space to be a little bigger.
    I realize you are so used to being one-handed that it's pretty normal for you but it's amazing to watch all the techniques you've come up with to utilize your left "hand" to do the stuff you need to do.
    Again, fantastic video. Thank you.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines so job is now completed. I combined it with a fuel pickup replacement on the top side so the top was off too. There is SUPER easy access to the pulley/idler assembly from the top. There are 4 bolts that remove the bracket holding it on and you can take them off that way too. Still needs access underneath of course, but thought I'd share that bit of info.

    I have a 320 that's 8 yrs old and I've never had to replace a belt yet. But I know I will soon enough. I've worked on a lot of stuff and I don't really dread this belt replacement but I have to say that doing this with one hand is the most impressive thing I've seen on youtube in a long time.

    THANK YOU! I just got done replacing the idler pulleys on my X304 (same as the X320). What a pain in the butt, not at all "user friendly, especially the V one! After nearly 3 hrs doing that job, I just couldn't bring myself to do the drive belt. Thanks to your video, I feel confident I will get that job done with a minimal amount of frustration.

    I found on my x350 the tension spring on the serpentine pulleys is why my drive belt falls off, I need to know how to attach it so that doesn't happen anymore. I'm getting ready to put it back on again and this is the fourth time in 172 hours since bought brand new.
    Thanks for your video it really helped me the first time getting everything back in place but that tension spring is the culprit on my tractor.

    Great video! I was going to replace the drive belt on my neighbor's X330 but after seeing your video he is going to have to take it to John Deere! I'd never get it back correctly! Plus lose stuff! Even with pictures & videos! I can do the old mowers but there's way too much to remove & remember where it came from, even with pictures! I replaced the mower deck belt & blades on the 330 but the drive belt is above my pay grade! I have the means to put the mower vertical but I don't understand how you & other mechanics work on a machine w/o cleaning it first! Man! I power-wash 'em all, top & bottom first thing & let the sun dry them for a day or so! I would have lubed many points but you got the repair done 1st. class! But I'm retired & do gratis work & not under any schedule like a bonafide mechanic is! When I'm done is when it's ready to pick up! The video is clear & audio is precise! It's amazing how God has given you the talent to do your work with only 5 fingers! PTL!

      Thank you for commenting. If we are servicing the machine , they get the cleaning but just like you said. If we did all the prep work to clean it before doing the job, the price on the repair would get higher and I’m about giving a good quality job and not crazy pricing. I really wanted to make the video so a little dirt happens ! LOL. Please give this a like, subscribe and tell your friends to help my channel grow. It would be greatly appreciated. Nice video! I have the X304 with four wheel steering and was wondering if it can be hoisted upright like you did with the 320? Also are there any issues with battery acid or engine oil leaking out when it’s hoisted up?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Před 3 lety +2

      I have been lifting machines this way for over 25 years and have not had any issues with the battery or oil. I have lifted machines to high and found that fuel tank may leak if the gas tank is too high and had to be careful. Just be very careful how you lift the machine and if you do not feel safe doing it then do not. Thanks for watching:)
