I’m sure you probably heard this many times before. But, as a radiologist and a fellow physician, I wanted to give you my heartfelt thanks for your video. I believe that you have extended my life with many additional good years. Based on your advice I cut out carbs and eat more fats, in only three months I lost 15-20 lbs, got my triglycerides down to 98 from 200, took my cholesterol down to 150 from 200 and my vldl down to 16 from 40. Plus, my hbh1c has gone down significantly. This in only 3 months!
What I find disconcerting is how much bad advice is out there, when there is a whole body of evidence to show that what you recommend actually works. Big pharmaceuticals and food companies have no incentive to recommend what we really should be eating. And, until that changes, we will continue to have a metabolic crisis in this country. It’s very sad. Nevertheless, I am on the right path and I use much of excellent advice you give. Cannot express my thanks enough for what you do!

Take what dude recommended in this video and make number 3 (meat), number 1, and eliminate number one (greens) and you'll be alright. No point in eating anything green. Your eye has 3 cones. One cone deciphers blue or yellow, one is for dark or light and the last is for green, or not green (red). The whole point of that last cone is to tell us what is FOOD. Out of all the green, we see the food POP because we are looking for ANYTHING not green. Green stuff is not food. Bitterness is indicative of toxins. If it doesn't taste good, don't eat it! (Granted that your gut is in decent shape) The only exception to this that I eat is delicious sauerkraut. (No longer green 😅) because the fermentation makes it much more digestible, helps the gut microbiome, and the fermentation process helps neutralize a lot of the toxins, and it goes from being bad, to good. Just like factory farm meat takes the healthiest food from great to pretty bad.

From my experience: Grapefruits, green apples and dark chocolate are a great bench mark for how much sugar you have in your diet. If those 3 foods taste awful, you are getting way too much sugar in your diet. If they taste amazing, you are probably on the right track with your sugar intake levels. After a few weeks of a low sugar diet, healthy foods tasted fantastic but I could not even eat normal mainstream treats. They literally burned my tongue and made me feel sick. The body adapts to bad things just as much as it does to good things. Something to think about.

@@rexjantze296 Whoa, cowboy! A three day fast is pretty intense unless you have been working up to it. I started in April doing intermittent fasting (fancy name for "skip breakfast") and kept pushing lunch further into the afternoon. My wife and I did a four day last month, which I am sure helped my sore knee and skin itches. I just had a cup of organic bone broth with a little cumin and turmeric tossed in. My last meal was dinner two days ago. (I'm trying to break a set point). If you can just jump in and do a 3 day, God bless you, but I think unless you have done some prep work you might get dizzy or feel sick. One happy thing about dropping carbohydrates and sugar is your appetite changes. I miss chewing and tasting food when I fast, but I don't get hungry.

The other benefit I would want is the stem-cell/neurogenesis refresher. I'm a "big fan" of neuroplasticity and neurogenesis and ways to optimize the conditions that endorse changing the brain to feed back new mind. Pardner.

@@astos11 Hi Astos! You sound Greek. I had a medical procedure last Spring. I had to fast for 2 days before, that gave me a small head start. Getting weighed at the doctor and seeing 211 pounds was more motivation. I had never been that heavy. I retired last year from a construction job with a lot of stair climbing and sweating. Plus I was drinking too much beer. So I cut out the beer and most other carbohydrates like bread and potatoes and started riding my bike. I dropped to 200 in ten days. Then I started intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast). My wife watched a Dr. Ekberg video with me and was motivated to fast with me last month for four days (a complete fast- just coffee and bone broth). That helped my sore knee (old work injury) and I could ride my bike longer. I am now at 185 pounds, down 26 pounds in four months. I plan on doing a 3 to 4 day full fast every month, and I have not had 3 meals in one day in 4 months. Sometimes I eat only once. I hope you enjoy similar success!

@@judylloyd7901 Back in the day dairy was expensive. Butter for example cost a lot more than it costs today. There were no or few flavored yogurt offerings - you bought plain full fat yogurt that wasn't even homogenized (which is a really bad process) or made your own yogurt and you added your own flavor by cutting fruit into it. You also didn't eat a lot of it because it was a luxury. Milk was readily accessible but you didn't have too much of that either because water or tea was so much cheaper. Also Milk wasn't homogenized - a process where the fat particles in the Milk are smashed so small that they can no separate from the water any longer thus resulting in a milk that never has a cream top. Very bad process because the particle size lets those fat droplets pass your intestines into the bloodstream uncontrolled and that's a very bad thing.

Because of what I’m learning from you (and a lot of discipline), I’ve dumped 30lb since November.
Your approach is perfect, and I’m so grateful to have found you and your channel. I belong to an IF group in FB, and I post your stuff to the group all the time, and I’m also talking about you in the car as an Uber driver because as soon as someone asks how I’m doing, I say ‘I’ve lost THIRTY POUNDS’ (I tell anyone who’ll listen!), and when they ask how, I say ‘watch this dude, and do IF!’
    Nothing but love for you!!
    😊

Ok I've watched a few videos the last few days, and I'm sold. Turning 40 this year, my body is making more changes and adjustments than ever before. Working out regularly is no longer my key to longevity. I've strayed quite a bit on my eating regiment after losing my mother. Time to get back on track. Thank you for this channel.

Mulberries! They're lovely. I don't see many mulberry trees here in the UK, which it's a shame as they're really delicious. Even hard to find in the shops, although I get some from local Indian shop, imported from Afghanistan no less!

I adore mulberries; ate them right from the tree when a teenager in Charlottesville, Va where we lived for five years. The Garden Centre here (Oxon) has a couple which my children denuded when they were young. Nothing like tree climbing!
Any case, you have inspired me: we've two apple trees (one Albemarle pippins, Q Vic's favourite, two Victoria plums, and a pear. Think we cd just squeeze in a mulberry. Fingers crossed it yields for us.
      Yrs, Lenore
