My grand parents had rice three times a day everyday. Grandma lived at 104 and grandpa lives at 97. I’m Japanese. There are a lot of 100 years old people here in Japan, and they also basically eat rice three times a day, at least twice a day. Its no problem if you eat rice. There are tons of living evidences.
I think he was saying it’s bad for people who are insulin resistant.
He explained that the addition of processed foods to eating the rice, has adverse affects. I’m understanding Dr. Ekberg to mean the average person is not eating like their ancestors.
Not the same foods their ancestors ate for most, GMO bioengineering changed the game☠️
correct, rice is a healthy grain.

In the 1980's they came out with what foods are healthy to eat and which to avoid. They got it so wrong that its hard to believe it was an honest mistake. If you want to control a society "keep them sick and fearful" I don't remember who said this but I agree

For my friends here, remember that the illness we may be suffering is not an enemy. Is the result of our own behaviors and lifestyle. One food, one thing you stop eating, etc, will help but is just part of an STRATEGY we must be designing for our own health.
I was very sick since childhood, overweight, mad, stressed, etc...and part of my "problem" was my own mind and believes. Keep learning from the Doc, learn from other sources, put into ACTION and TEST IT on yourself.
The biggest change I made in my lifestyle brought me the biggest changes and open the door for other more important transformations.
These 2 things took me courage, but I was in pain and with poor digestion. With anger all the time.
1- I stopped eating ALL KINDS OF CARBS for 1 month. ZERO bread, pasta, cookies, rice, etc.
2- Started to drink 1.5 liters of water every day. Good water.
After that month I lost 5 KG, I was for the first time in my life waking up with energies and more positive, and my digestion improve a lot!

⚠️ Here in Brazil, the base of our food is rice and beans. My grandfathers lived to 100 years eating rice, beans, meat, butter, milk, but they did not eat any industrial food. No processed food, only natural food. 🎉🎉❤
maybe because he did not eat processed food. But again some people drink regularly and eat fatty food...and yet live longer than people that measure everything they eat and only eat claimed healthy food. !

What's weird is that I know some Asians who ate rice with every meal in Asia. They came to the U.S., reduced their rice intake and ate more potatoes and other starches instead. Within a couple years they started having health problems including diabetes. If rice was bad for you, why didn't they have health problems by eating rice three times a day in Asia?
Same question. Actually Japan is the number one rice consumer, but with the lowest CVD as well as diabetes.

Physical labour + good food + good sleep= Good Health.

live in a pollution free place,
work hard, eat whatever non-processed food is available and do help others, you will have healthy life.

Live now and here , and that's all.

He speaks the true. When I started having heart palpitations. I went to work one day and was rushed to the hospital in the rain. My heart was beating fast and it wouldn't stop. While on my way to the hospital I was pumped up with 3 different medications. Surprise! none of them helped. When I got to the hospital they hooked me up to the heart monitor and gave me in 30 min increment two other drugs. Heart still beating fast. My friend came into the room talked to me and slowly my heart slowed down. This is after and hour. The cardiologist finally made his appearance. So I said what is my diagnosis. What he said made me not trust doctors especially to the fact he didn't do any tests to even have a diagnosis. He said the last medication I was given worked and I should take that medication for the rest of my life. In addition he recommends I do some heart surgery with useless medical terms to confuse me and continued to say it has a 30% chance of working, what!. Then I ask so what caused the heart palpitations. He said a multitude of things. In short he didn't know. He wrote me a prescription for the drug and left. I walked of the hospital threw the drug prescription in the garbage. In that moment desided to answer this question. What caused my heart palpitations? Just a point of perspective. Before farming the total global human population fluctuated between 5 million to 50 million up until 10,000 years ago and the average life expectancy of these hunter gathers was 40. Then farming was invented and grains became 75% of the total diet and populations skyrocketed to hundreds of millions, and 8 billion today. Most people around the globe still eat a 50% to 75% grain diet. Also our life expectancy immediately jumped to over 60 with farming 10000 years ago. Today the global average is 75.
Just some hard mathematical facts that can not be denied. If rice and bread are so bad then why is Eurasia, half of which eats bread every day while the other half eats rice every day, the most populated region on earth with the longest life spans? The shortest lifespans today are in the hunter gathers societies in Africa and South America , Java, that virtually eat no grain.
The secret to good diet health is no secret. Moderation and lots of physical activity. Never eat to fill full. Keep un-natural aka processed ingredients to a minimum. I come from a peasant society. All my peasant relatives lived into their 90s. No running water no electricity until the 1990s and their main diet was bread 3 times a day, every day of their life. A shot of alcohol was taken every day of their life with every meal. And two or three at night. Pork or pork fat every day of their life. Dairy products every day of their life. Fruit and veggies, only when in season, or pickled over winter. Yet none of my great grand parents, great uncles/aunts died before age of 80. Not a single one out of several dozen. They ate in moderation and were constantly physically active from morning till night.

Yes he did say it is the addition of processed foods that make the rice negative. In cultures where food is made at home and it's not highly processed-- and people have rice as main staple-- it is not an issue. It was clear listening to him that he meant that processed and junk food (including candy and breads, deserts, and all that) are the bad guys and kind of the catalyst that makes it problematic for the body to even have rice.
My grandmother lived to 104. She had a hard surgery at 101. She would have lived much longer. Her favorite routine for years and years was two to three cups of coffee, a quarter block of cheese or so, at least, three, four, and sometimes even six Dr. Peppers each day.
And she never, never, never drank water by itself ever. I lived with her for several years. It was so stinky, this well-water. She lost all her teeth in her seventies from cavities, but the dentist pulled the rest of them out that were left. It saved her life. She had eight children. She worked in the fields growing up. Her young pictures show one of the strongest women ever witnessed, I have seen. Her neck and shoulders were huge.
She out danced everyone twice a week a few consecutive times, sometimes it was at the bar with me, until she was 101. She had a hip and leg surgery. After that, she danced more than about half of the people dancing, but I had to hold her up mostly. She broke her hip and femer falling down some concrete stairs at my mom's house to see her old sewing machine. It was my fault for not protecting her. She never went to the nursing home. Just was just loved by me and the family mostly in her old house, way out in the country.
That is a beautiful story. There is a lot of real love in it, I can feel it.
LOVELY MEMORIES!
Thank you Doctor Ekberg for the very interesting video. The problem is also the quality of food we eat, especially processed food and farmed fish.

One day I was in a local supermarket trying to find something healthy to eat that doesn't require cooking at home, and I realised that 90 percent of the products available were all ultra-processed and unhealthy and that it's so hard to find any healthy options that don't need cooking. - That's how bad it's got
I'm on and off Keto, managing Type 2 diagnosis well because of it.
When I go to a market, I know there are whole aisles that have absolutely nothing I can/should eat. In fact about the only aisles that are useful are the meat section, cheeses, and vegetables.
Everything else is chock full of carbs, various sugars, etc.
Aldi's at least has a good selection of products which are not hyper-processed and just honestly list sugar if its included. Nice that they try to stick to the German way with minimally processing/additives, mostly.
Same in Poland...

i liked how u mentioned RICE in the context of overall lifestyle . In south india, almost 70% of our diet is basically rice itself. however, i found that ditching carbs and eating more protein gave me uncontrollable acidity and inflammatory issues. I switched to ~90% carb diet and those issues went away and i did not even gain weight ( i have a moderately active lifestyle : mild-moderate exercise for 4 days a week) I truly wonder how european people can live on high protein diets without getting above mentioned issues. Maybe its because indian and european people are genetically different bcos of thousands of years of different dietary and climate patterns?
Thank you for bringing up this topic. I was wondering about Asian cultures and rice. They are very good at eating fermented foods, etc. and if this advice mainly is geared towards the typical terrible American style diet. It’s just lacking in so many ways.
trust me...as long as you are basically healthy, eating "real food" you can eat whatever you want. my parents eat the worst crap on the planet....and i mean the worst...and they are 88 and 90. enjoy your life and do what is right 4 U.
I think you are right, culture n genetics play a role.

Maybe because rice is their local source of nutrients? I noticed that the best foods are often the ones closest to us. It's relative I guess

Lost 100 pounds at age 70 by not eating any sugar or vegetable seed oil. Went from a 42 inch waist to 32 inches.
Already avoided all of them in the list for almost 2 years now and I've felt much better, younger and healthier than in the past! Staying low carb is the best decision that I've ever made!

If you avoid all the carbs then there is not many things left to eat. Can please enlighten what exactly you eat?

I'm surprised oatmilk isn't on the list since it is processed and is basically starch juice and is promoted as being heart healthy and a great replacement for dairy
But see how you were able to put the facts presented together (processed and starchy) so you already know it ISN'T healthy. He listed 10, not everything in the world. Thankfully we're able to figure out more on our own using the information provided. Have a happy, healthy day!

I've seen quite a few videos on the science of diet and its ill effects on our bodies but honestly this is definitely one the best ones I've seen when it comes to going into detail especially concerning trans fats. Thank you so much for such an informative video on how to improve our heart health and how to live healthier in general.Having had a heart attack at the age of 51 and never having smoked or drank alcohol and reasonably active and fit I totally missed the mark on sugar and its damaging effects that cause cardiovascular disease as I am guilty of eating cookies, pastries etc.. or just too much sugar all together. It's still a work in progress but after watching this video I will now be working harder to minimize the consumption of these detrimental foods.Thank you so much Dr. Ekberg for empowering people all over the world on how to make healthier diet choices.
as kids after the last war we where eating lard with fried onions 1/2" thick on homemade bread I was skinny tried to gain weight by eating raw 4or 5 eggs no weight gain. Also a story in the Toronto Star Canada farmer tried to fatten his pigs ,but stopped it because the lost weight.
Thank You Dr. Ekberg! A little over a year ago it was one of your videos randomly showing up in my CZcams content that led me down a path to fix my health that was failing me. Initially it was your fasting videos that helped me lose weight and feel healthier again. However, I was still suffering from chronic back pain and migraines. It was your video about what if you only ate red meat for a month that led me to carnivore lifestyle and it's completely changed my life for the better. No more back pain, no more headaches and migraines (I used to pop ibuprofen like it was candy. Not a single one since I started.) It's been a year since I started my new way of eating and I still see the benefits coming. Thank you for giving me my life back. P.S. - I run marathons now and I never thought id get to achieve that goal!!
Please explain more on how mitigate severe migraine. Thanks
I'm not sure it will be the same for you, but all I did was stopped eating sugar, plants and just about any food made from plants. I believe it was the sugar though that caused my problems with headaches and migraines. I've eaten a few things off the carnivore diet a few times and if I eat something with a little too much sugar I'll get a slight headache, like my bodies telling me I shouldn't be eating that. Would be interesting to see a summary by you regarding the following topics extending this one:
- Metabolization of fructose
- Some berries contain galactose, the role of this
- The role of starch like the one in potato, cooled, which seems to be indigestible.
Great overview of how to approach supplements! Also, I appreciate the breakdown of amino acids that come from fish and their criticality to our brain and other functions. what Dr. Eric berg says about oxidation of the fish oil is absolutely right. Dr. Paul, Mason and Dr. Paul Saladino, both site studies that show that virtually all fish oil capsules and fish oil itself, due to its poly unsaturated oil's are almost immediately oxidized. They both suggest that we get the same amino acids from wild caught fish and from red meat.
#2 Donuts! Yes! My grandmother, a woman born in the 19th century, always said to NEVER eat donuts because they're toxic. Her rationale was kind of humorous but the point still stands. She used to claim it would "coat your intestines in sludge". I wish I asked her where she learned that, because I'm curious.
My mom in law made cakes and donuts everyday for her farm family. She passed away from Alzheimers in her 80s.
@@marliesyanke4580 Were the fried in oil?
Yes, it's all the oil they're cooked in, probably is the sludge she meant. Which she's right that the oil is bad.

Last year i.e 2022 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure after experiencing bad bad headaches.
At one point my BP was 165/103😮, I thought I was gonna die anytime😢.
My Doctor didn't recommend medication immediately instead she asked me to buy a BP monitor and keep a record of my BP on a daily basi and I thought she was insane for not giving me the medication.
Then I came across this CZcams channel and I kinda trusted it and followed almost everything he talks about, from changing lifestyle, exercise, Food, breathing exercise.

This is the sort of education material that really needs to be delivered in our schooling systems as part of set/general syllabus. Excellent and patient presentation of the case for the low-carb diet. I've been on this diet for 11 years after reading the work of Gary Taubes and pursuing some original sources. I am now 78, I feel great, and have had no significant health problem, no hospitalization, and no serious infection, not even Covid (but that's probably due to regular vaccination). I only wish I had leanred about the diet when I was 6 or 7, not 67 years old.
The one thing I question is your picture of what looks like wieners in a butcher shop as the illustration for the #7 thing to avoid--ultra processed foods. Most sausage and wieners are not ultra-processed. I often eat a good quality wiener for supper, sometimes 3 or 4 nights a week. It is made from ground pork and beef and some salt and spices and kept refrigerated. There are no added sugars, no carbs, no vegetable oils. It is essentially fat and protein with some salt added, like bacon. My blood pressure is 100-110/65-75 so I do not worry about salt. I find wiener and sausage a very healthy food, if it is made from good quality meat without additives. Perhaps some sausage is not good--I have heard that some British-style sausage called "bangers" has added breading and maybe sugars. Othewise, I think it is a healthy and tasty component of a low-carb diet.
Thank you for the info.
Carbohydrates =Glucose! Glucose =raised insulin!!! And there's no difference in the way our bodies use Glucose foods that holds those carbs. Wow....finally someone who can actually explain in a way that makes me understand why I become type 2 diabetic....I ate my way into it!!!

I encourage you to do it. My journey started in April when I kicked sugar, high carb and starchy foods out of my diet. I am now 70lbs lighter and still loosing weight. Just started a weight program every other day and I am feeling better and better every day. I was at a point where I was doing good to just walk in April due to inflammation in my legs, knees and feet. I have turned that around with different eating habits and exercise. Dr, Ekberg is like many others that propose you don't eat a lot of sugary foods. After all it's glucose and it causes spikes and insulin resistance. Honey may not be bad for you but it's sugar to me at the end of the day and I'll give it a hard pass. It's just empty calories to me.

Thank you. My husband and I started a strict keto diet last week. But listening to you we have had a revelation. We have gone through the larger checking sugars and carbs. And we have thrown out carrier bags full of food. I’ve asked him - if you want to list 4stone in a year- is it worth wasting £30 of food? He has a bad heart, has a stroke and has two artificial hips. He is 320 lb or 23 stone. We really have had an epiphany. We are both diabetic- although I am not desperately overweight but I am on insulin. For me it is genetic sadly. But maybe even for me it may not be too late. But thanks again. ❤
In my opinion it is never too late. 👍🙏
Maybe I'm a geek, but I really appreciate Dr E going over the chemical structures and metabolic processes. Helps me make sense of why we are doing these dietary changes against everything we've ever been taught!
Check out Dr. Malone and others who go into a lot of detail on how the FDA and medical institutions were 'captured' by big pharma. Well known but rarely discussed how Sugar conglomerates paid off several Harvard scientists doing high level research on cause of Heart Disease. Ultimately paid them off to change data to make it high fat was primary cause instead of sugar/excess carbs. And the whole food pyramid and later shapes were put into effect based on that faulty research and taught to several generations of us as gospel.
Well it has we have Healthier food in great Britain
