My grand parents had rice three times a day everyday. Grandma lived at 104 and grandpa lives at 97. I’m Japanese. There are a lot of 100 years old people here in Japan, and they also basically eat rice three times a day, at least twice a day. Its no problem if you eat rice. There are tons of living evidences.

Thank you Doc! So nice to have more professionals to bring light here!
For my friends here, remember that the illness we may be suffering is not an enemy. Is the result of our own behaviors and lifestyle. One food, one thing you stop eating, etc, will help but is just part of an STRATEGY we must be designing for our own health.
I was very sick since childhood, overweight, mad, stressed, etc...and part of my "problem" was my own mind and believes. Keep learning from the Doc, learn from other sources, put into ACTION and TEST IT on yourself.
The biggest change I made in my lifestyle brought me the biggest changes and open the door for other more important transformations.
These 2 things took me courage, but I was in pain and with poor digestion. With anger all the time.
1- I stopped eating ALL KINDS OF CARBS for 1 month. ZERO bread, pasta, cookies, rice, etc.
2- Started to drink 1.5 liters of water every day. Good water.
After that month I lost 5 KG, I was for the first time in my life waking up with energies and more positive, and my digestion improve a lot!
Be brave! you can make it!
Get some friends to do it together!
    Do it for yourself FIRST!

He speaks the true. When I started having heart palpitations. I went to work one day and was rushed to the hospital in the rain. My heart was beating fast and it wouldn't stop. While on my way to the hospital I was pumped up with 3 different medications. Surprise! none of them helped. When I got to the hospital they hooked me up to the heart monitor and gave me in 30 min increment two other drugs. Heart still beating fast. My friend came into the room talked to me and slowly my heart slowed down. This is after and hour. The cardiologist finally made his appearance. So I said what is my diagnosis. What he said made me not trust doctors especially to the fact he didn't do any tests to even have a diagnosis. He said the last medication I was given worked and I should take that medication for the rest of my life. In addition he recommends I do some heart surgery with useless medical terms to confuse me and continued to say it has a 30% chance of working, what!. Then I ask so what caused the heart palpitations. He said a multitude of things. In short he didn't know. He wrote me a prescription for the drug and left. I walked of the hospital threw the drug prescription in the garbage. In that moment desided to answer this question. What caused my heart palpitations? I first started by stop eating everything and slow start introducing foods see if how my body reacts to it. I found the 3 things that caused my heart palpitations 3.lack of water I would go days with no water 2. Stress anytime I got overwhelmed 1. SUGAR I tried all different types of sugar they affect me just the same. This man knows what he talking about.

Just a point of perspective. Before farming the total global human population fluctuated between 5 million to 50 million up until 10,000 years ago and the average life expectancy of these hunter gathers was 40. Then farming was invented and grains became 75% of the total diet and populations skyrocketed to hundreds of millions, and 8 billion today. Most people around the globe still eat a 50% to 75% grain diet. Also our life expectancy immediately jumped to over 60 with farming 10000 years ago. Today the global average is 75.
Just some hard mathematical facts that can not be denied. If rice and bread are so bad then why is Eurasia, half of which eats bread every day while the other half eats rice every day, the most populated region on earth with the longest life spans? The shortest lifespans today are in the hunter gathers societies in Africa and South America , Java, that virtually eat no grain.
The secret to good diet health is no secret. Moderation and lots of physical activity. Never eat to fill full. Keep un-natural aka processed ingredients to a minimum. I come from a peasant society. All my peasant relatives lived into their 90s. No running water no electricity until the 1990s and their main diet was bread 3 times a day, every day of their life. A shot of alcohol was taken every day of their life with every meal. And two or three at night. Pork or pork fat every day of their life. Dairy products every day of their life. Fruit and veggies, only when in season, or pickled over winter. Yet none of my great grand parents, great uncles/aunts died before age of 80. Not a single one out of several dozen. They ate in moderation and were constantly physically active from morning till night.

Yes he did say it is the addition of processed foods that make the rice negative. In cultures where food is made at home and it's not highly processed-- and people have rice as main staple-- it is not an issue. It was clear listening to him that he meant that processed and junk food (including candy and breads, deserts, and all that) are the bad guys and kind of the catalyst that makes it problematic for the body to even have rice.

My grandmother lived to 104. She had a hard surgery at 101. She would have lived much longer. Her favorite routine for years and years was two to three cups of coffee, a quarter block of cheese or so, at least, three, four, and sometimes even six Dr. Peppers each day.
And she never, never, never drank water by itself ever. I lived with her for several years. It was so stinky, this well-water. She lost all her teeth in her seventies from cavities, but the dentist pulled the rest of them out that were left. It saved her life. She had eight children. She worked in the fields growing up. Her young pictures show one of the strongest women ever witnessed, I have seen. Her neck and shoulders were huge.
She out danced everyone twice a week a few consecutive times, sometimes it was at the bar with me, until she was 101. She had a hip and leg surgery. After that, she danced more than about half of the people dancing, but I had to hold her up mostly. She broke her hip and femer falling down some concrete stairs at my mom's house to see her old sewing machine. It was my fault for not protecting her. She never went to the nursing home. Just was just loved by me and the family mostly in her old house, way out in the country.

One day I was in a local supermarket trying to find something healthy to eat that doesn't require cooking at home, and I realised that 90 percent of the products available were all ultra-processed and unhealthy and that it's so hard to find any healthy options that don't need cooking. - That's how bad it's got

I'm on and off Keto, managing Type 2 diagnosis well because of it.
When I go to a market, I know there are whole aisles that have absolutely nothing I can/should eat. In fact about the only aisles that are useful are the meat section, cheeses, and vegetables.
Everything else is chock full of carbs, various sugars, etc.
Aldi's at least has a good selection of products which are not hyper-processed and just honestly list sugar if its included. Nice that they try to stick to the German way with minimally processing/additives, mostly.

i liked how u mentioned RICE in the context of overall lifestyle . In south india, almost 70% of our diet is basically rice itself. however, i found that ditching carbs and eating more protein gave me uncontrollable acidity and inflammatory issues. I switched to ~90% carb diet and those issues went away and i did not even gain weight ( i have a moderately active lifestyle : mild-moderate exercise for 4 days a week) I truly wonder how european people can live on high protein diets without getting above mentioned issues. Maybe its because indian and european people are genetically different bcos of thousands of years of different dietary and climate patterns?

Also, I appreciate the breakdown of amino acids that come from fish and their criticality to our brain and other functions. what Dr. Eric berg says about oxidation of the fish oil is absolutely right. Dr. Paul, Mason and Dr. Paul Saladino, both site studies that show that virtually all fish oil capsules and fish oil itself, due to its poly unsaturated oil's are almost immediately oxidized. They both suggest that we get the same amino acids from wild caught fish and from red meat.

Excellent and patient presentation of the case for the low-carb diet. I've been on this diet for 11 years after reading the work of Gary Taubes and pursuing some original sources. I am now 78, I feel great, and have had no significant health problem, no hospitalization, and no serious infection, not even Covid (but that's probably due to regular vaccination). I only wish I had leanred about the diet when I was 6 or 7, not 67 years old.
The one thing I question is your picture of what looks like wieners in a butcher shop as the illustration for the #7 thing to avoid--ultra processed foods. Most sausage and wieners are not ultra-processed. I often eat a good quality wiener for supper, sometimes 3 or 4 nights a week. It is made from ground pork and beef and some salt and spices and kept refrigerated. There are no added sugars, no carbs, no vegetable oils. It is essentially fat and protein with some salt added, like bacon. My blood pressure is 100-110/65-75 so I do not worry about salt. I find wiener and sausage a very healthy food, if it is made from good quality meat without additives. Perhaps some sausage is not good--I have heard that some British-style sausage called "bangers" has added breading and maybe sugars. Othewise, I think it is a healthy and tasty component of a low-carb diet.

Check out Dr. Malone and others who go into a lot of detail on how the FDA and medical institutions were 'captured' by big pharma. Well known but rarely discussed how Sugar conglomerates paid off several Harvard scientists doing high level research on cause of Heart Disease. Ultimately paid them off to change data to make it high fat was primary cause instead of sugar/excess carbs. And the whole food pyramid and later shapes were put into effect based on that faulty research and taught to several generations of us as gospel.
