When you start you're gonna want to quit. When they do it it looks so easy but it's not. One thing you need to remember is that if you really practice every day, at least one character or 1hr doing 3D a day. In 1 year/6 months. You'll be able to do what he can do probably. Just give it time and don't give up.

I am so fucked, I studied 3d modeling, and am proficient with Zbrush, however, I am also a computer addict, and someone who gets anxiety attacks as soon as he feels he needs to do something for any reason other than "It happened to be what I felt like doing". This means that as soon as modeling and drawing became something I had to do, I stopped doing it, and I just don't know how to get myself to start again. The more I try to force myself, the more my mind rebels against it.
I play D&D, so I figured I'd try to make those characters to 3d print and even that I could not convince myself to do because I felt forced by myself.
God I wish I could just sculpt for hours the way I waste my life for hours and just enjoy it without stress.....

(I started blender quite early, sure with practice I will get even better, I'm kind of a beginner, but all my drawing knowledge, like anatomy, forms and that is reaally helpful, would recommend starting with drawing fundamentals and then go into sculpting, because if you understand how to make 3d things on 2d then most of the hardwork sure is done)

Totally agree. I just started learning Blender last month (former Max user) and dipped into the sculpting tools last week. But What is your though process in this stage in ZBrush?
You work in low poly and subdivide to add ridges and details, but what if you need to move things too much around? soon you'll have stretched and squished polygons in areas.... So, do you ZRemesh it every now and then? (but that looses details, and might mess topology, though) ...You don't seem to work with Sculptriss On...
I know that you already have so much experience that those issues often don't even show up in your demos, but how would you deal with them if they did? Thank you.

really nice video and helpful tips. do you have a video where you go into very detail what steps you are doing to get what we see here in the video?
for me personally, it applies 100% what you say about moving on too early, because I don't get what I want during blockout. I use dynamesh from the very beginning and it feels like i'm doing something wrong from the very start.

Does this blockout also works for organic Sculpting too and not just Stylized?. what if i want to start a realistic looking humanoid Orc or even a Human. Should i do this type of Blocking in order to make the basic shapes?

    • @SleepyMatt-zzz
      @SleepyMatt-zzz Před 4 lety +2

Absolutely, blocking borrows a lot of very old traditional art theories involving anatomy, one of which is breaking down the body, and the face, into basic shapes. Think about diagrams you may have seen on something like this, or exercises you may have done in highschool/University. The old masters would have had to do something similar if they were working on something more finite like stone or marble, mediums that would cause a lot of grief if mistakes were made.

This sounds nice but you have some odd anatomical mishaps in pectoral, clavicle and scapular regions and the proportions look a bit off to me even accounting for a fact that the character is stylized.

@@tugsuumovies1999 as a breast lover the side crease isn't where it should be. The line/crevice that makes the side boob beautiful, got butchered. I can only described it as the "implants" effect.
It happens where they put a ball or oval shape there with no regards to the actual development of a breast. An all natural breast forms outwards ever so gently and with time stretches and conforms to a new shape that hangs off of the ladies chest to only further enrich their beauty. Such shape hangs from the side of the body and the crevice enlongates itself as the years go by and nature takes its course.
The artist here has skills no doubt, but in this case the representation of such high beauty, to a man of myself and many other lovers of the breast, a great Injustice was done to the ever perfect creation brought on to men throughout history. For breast are not merely to be suckled and pleasured or fulfill ones personal desires...they are, to bring forward humanity.

Can I find more blender blockout tutorials on skillshare, cause if I can't then I'm not getting skillshare. I've been looking everywhere for a tutorial that focuses on blender character blockout. So if some could answer my question then you'd be a life saver

    Sculpting is hard.
You spend so much time admiring your perfect thighs, and even more when you start texturing in those amazing stockings.

I'm still very confused about this process.
It might be the flow of the video feels bit too fast for my tastes.
I want to use Zbrush, but every time I open it, it feels too overwhelming and I quit after like a second of using it.
