Old school will work our way through things and persevere - "electronic dependent" will "shush" people riding with them when directions are electronically given- How do we cut the cord from the GPS to have it give "Suggestions" and by god - we use our head and make the final call ! Siri doesn't know your favourite colour- google doesn't know if you've met your dream other- so don't empower GPS that it "knows" the route safely !!!

@8:56 speaking about GPS- Youi have to combine GPS with COMMON SENSE when in remote areas. I live in South Africa, got lost in the Northern Cape Province between 2 towns, approximately 220 kilometers from each other on dirt roads. I had GPS, which took me on a wild goose chase, BUT my common sense left me and with hindsight the alarm bells were there from when I started going wrong, but I ignored it. I got lost for 3 hours, had a flat at 09:00 in the morning and had to change the tire with the temperature at 30 degrees Celsius at 09:00. Like Rory said, very politely, do not let GPS override your common sense. Go explore and God bless.

We built a 400 small block Chevy and ditched the 400 rods in favor of a Scat rotating assembly with longer rods. With ported Dart heads and a mild performance cam, this would produce 515 lb ft of torque with 400ish HP, which would pull a medium weight wrecker around just fine. It's no big block but will get the job done. Don't worry about what everyone says. Build it the way you build it.

The old 283 Chevy engine was my favorite forever, then 350 .you could use them in anything. Hope Robbie realizes what he's getting from you!

Robby's Wrecker, this is so special it screams to be a working show piece not an everyday recovery vehicle. standard size tires so no fender cutting and a ford powerplant like a 289 with tri-y headers and shelby oil pan, I understand the 350 and you are right on all counts - but don't turn this into Robby's recovery vehicle make it his parade truck

You don't have to be out there in the middle of nowhere to get in trouble with the GPS devices. I operate the RV 780 and when it requires you to do an update "do not ignore" because at that moment your safety perimeters are turned off until your updates have been completed. Like low bridges, no u-turns, etc. Use common sense and don't trust these devices to keep you safe. Great video Rory and crew!

Our rv 780 routed us from one end to the other down the Vegas strip to get to the rv resort when the resort is located beside the interstate with an exit nearby. 7 pm on a Friday night. My guess is there was some traffic on the interstate and it thought that it was 1 or 2 minutes faster. Always study a map before your days journey so you remain in control of your route. All equipment is fallible especially humans 🙄 😒

I’m a retired truck driver and I resisted gps until my wife bought me one, then never with out some form of it. I however always had my map aswell and checked my days route before starting my day, then commonsense is the most important rule. Oh and for high vehicles. That height restriction sign is there for a purpose read it and if you don’t know your height, turn around. Enough preaching to the masses. I realized that I had a smile on my face the entire length of this video. Maybe I do on all your videos just didn’t realize it. The explanation of your 6x6 build and why each component will be this way plus Robbie’s build will be amazing.

I've always heard that the V10's were bullet proof-- at least in the early 2000's. I personally own a 2002 F350 7.3L diesel, ZF 6spd manual, manual transfer case w/ manual locking hubs. It's extended cab with a 9ft flatbed. dana 60 front/ dana 80 rear (srw). 330k miles and it's still going strong, probably one of the best trucks Ford has ever made. So Idk, about the V10's of this generation personally, but I've known 3 people who owned them and I've never heard anything bad about the engine, other than it's a gas hog. Can't wait for the 6x6 build though-- it's gonna be fun to watch. (grind hard plumbing) channel has a ford Ranger 6x6, with axles from an old Ford MUTT, and it has rear steer too. But they have already broken the steering and a rear diff.. So it's definitely not strong enough for tow truck work. So I'm excited to see this build.

I LOVE the comments on “RESPONSIBILITY”, the brand name on a motor that works and you could get parts at a “liquor store” hahaha, and the ending just because the phone/iPad “tells you something” it does not mean you have to listen NOR believe it!!! But the best part, was about the truck that your family has passed back-and-forth, means something to you, and that after 593K miles it works great!!! AND, I wonder why that might be, with an ace that can do anything with a piece of metal in the family! Great video, thanks a ton, love your comaradery!!!! FUN! Wisconsin
