Dual XJ Recoveries

- Older recovery of a Jeep XJ that was having running issues. We ran out and grabbed it and took it to the shop for repairs. Next one was a few weeks ago. Rear leaf spring hangers had torn off and needed welded. Was definitely tough welding such thin metal back together on the unibody mounts but we got it back in once piece and they drove it back to town. The following day they brought the jeep in to the shop and we added some gussets so they could continue their wheeling/camping trip without further issues. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Off-road skills + mechanical skills = you were born for this job!
Thank you very much for the entertainment on CZcams. Your channel will never get old !
Rory and crew doing the most difficult jobs and making it look easy.
"Usually those bolts are tighter"....cracked me up ! Don't know how you kept a straight face. Love it! 👍👍
The simple fact he cares, that's a huge bonus to his customers
Rory, I love that you get to fix vehicles onsite.... Love you truck and your abilities....
Paul and Matt don't realize you've already won their Tow Truck Olympics 👍
Rory that is a great line. ". . . did that just work as a punch?"
This why I like watching these awesome videos. He could of welded one side and call it good but instead he checks to make sure the other side didn't have the same problem. These guys rock!!
Destination, top of the world, and the dinasor museum, always pick up something new on these videos, a way to spend the morning
Trail fixes, you just have to love trail fixes.
Rory's the man! Every good tool has more than one use. Always taking notes in these videos. Love the Trailmater crew. Kickin ass and taking names, in a humble fashion of course.
Sunset shot was a nice bonus
Geometry and vector diagrams. Perfect.
Rory and crew at 'trail mater'/'Moab Motorsports'...you are making OUTSTANDING content videos, EVERYTHING you have been showing the last few months has been interesting, entertaining, educational and useful/helpful information others can use all at the same time. Rory, you are very GOOD at everything you do on your channel...We LOVE watching you do all of it. Thanks.
I love that you're getting much more comfortable with talking on camera! Something I struggle with a lot. Great video!
I love recoveries where you weld !! It’s most impressive!! You have some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen!! Very cool videos thanks for making them!!
I hope you realize just how lucky you are. The landscape around there and the sunsets are absolutely stunning. We have some really nice sunsets over Lake Huron from the Canadian side here but the landscape can't even begin to compare. As I said once before, it's so flat here that if you sat on the roof of a barn you'd be able to see London about 70 miles away. Enjoy what you have every day and never take it for granted. Take care and stay safe. Oh, and keep the videos coming. I really look forward to them. Thank you.
LOVE TO WATCH YOU DO THE TRAIL REPAIRS AND THE RECOVERIES! VERY TALENTED.
Definitely my favorite channel,
Well done, as usual! I hope your math teacher was watching.
One of my grandkids just graduated high school. He was going on about having to learn the Pythagorean theorem.
He said, ‘grandpa, when will I ever have to use that!.
I told him never, until he wanted to build something straight and squared up.
Then we had a discussion.
.........did that just WORK, as a punch??? Trail Mater Wisdom 101. Love it
I love the display of your rigs sitting out by the road in the outro. Pretty epic looking
A++👍👍😀 Rory definitely knows his stuff.
The right question is sooo important to get the correct answer... Yes it worked as a punch! Should be on t-shirt! Fantastic as always!
Thanks for giving me my 'trail mater' fix for the day! Great video shots and always cool fixes and how they're done. You guys are the MEN of MOAB!!!!
Another great video and love the new outro. Keep the Trail Mater, your posse, the cameras and the drone rolling!
Rory.. I totally believe that you can fix anything.. not enough words to describe your awesomeness
Way to get them playing again Rory.👍💪🥇
Great job doing the right thing and helping people out and not taking advantage of them. All without drama!
Beautiful sunset. 👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
I love the left of center banter you have. Remember Remain Insane No Drain On The Brain. Righty tighty Lefty Loosy and Cross Thread Is Better Than No Thread.
Editing and partner conversation is getting better 👏👏👏👏
Trail mater really has a personality.
It is a great machine!!
These videos get better every time I watch one especially when you use drones and geometry on these recoveries!
Nothing to say, other than thank you for what you do and sharing with the other nuckleheads in the world.
You keep getting better at the “show” part! Keep up the show
Great repair. It was funny when that bracket fell out when you unbolted it--OOPs!! Whole show was awesome!!
Super Job. Like a Drill Press, when you need a Winch, nothing else will do.
Thanks Rory and Mike for another great video thanks guys
Good trail repair on the shackle mounts. Sometimes it seems like engineers give you just enough material and strength to get you by on light off roading but not enough for more extreme riding over time. Along comes the aftermarket crowd to off upgrades to reinforce those weak areas and the repair shops to reinforce the spots with gussets and brackets to make them bulletproof. The things you do with the winches to move things around and into place totally amaze me.
Thanks Rory, keep them coming.
Rory… you are THE MAN!
Not only did you weld what needed to be welded but you checked the other side and showed them the error of the setup. That is true service and looking out for the customer. its becoming to rare in business these days. Good Job!
Who needs a work shop when Rory on the job
Another Great Trail Repair and Recovery ! Thanks for sharing !
I love that they not only recover, but they also try to get it so person can continue their adventures!!! That speaks highly of them! Yup. Make em better too - if he can he does it.
Mike is a good camera man. I would like to say that when he is along we get better video coverage. Wise decision to get a camera man. Make a difference. Thanks Rory and Mike!!
Love that ‘Mad Max’ Welding!!
Getting used to watching these just like Matt's off-road recovery Fab rats the Laten crew both Casey's one in Utah and one Oregon I picked up on it and I like watching it and you do an awesome job erepair monospot most of the time a lot of entertainment very appreciative keep up the great work these are my evening shows when I can find them I do not watch TV bad news thank you very much in the middle of the United States
Love watching your show
So ingenious ways to film , love the shots from under Trail mater.
Unibody welding reminds me of welding pockets on garbage bins using a Lincoln AC buzz box and 3/32 rod.
Rory you are the man 👨 great fix on the trail 👣 great 👍 video 👍
Hey Rory and Crew I love the Display of AMERICAN IRON out front Love that ok Take Care❤👍✌️
You are a STUD!! What a team you have, thanks for the content.
I'm a year late, but this vid popped up on my list. (I watch all his videos these days). What I am commenting about it the fact that Rory may be the last guy on Earth, other than me, who uses a stick welder instead of a wire feed. I understand why, but it is just so rare to see anyone doing it the old fashioned way. I love it!
Hard working man I admire your patience and persistence
Your living the dream bro, driving beautiful vehicles with your son all day. I couldnt imagine heaven but mine would be pretty close to what your doing.
Thanks Guys
"the key to success... Is more winches" 💪😎
I liked the way he used a winch to hold his own wheel locked on a previous trip
And this one,lol
@@jeffclark2725 Who needs an emergency-brake if one has plenty of winches ( to prevent the vehicle from moving... ) -- Rory 2022 🙂
@@isallah1kafir196 I agree totally,Thumbs up
His truck has 6 winches. lol.. The man doesn't like to lose
so Rory has these invisible wings......cause he's .....like an angel
Rory is a beast!!! and he is always happy just like Matt :) Best job in the world
Mater Mended another one. a thumbs up
So a great side note of Four Wheeling, make sure you have recovery money 💰 because you never know when you will break down.👍😉😃
Rory I love your e brake. It always works.
Rory to the rescue. Keep them coming, love the videos!
I don't what's more impressive: (MORR"s) Matt being able to fix things on the side of the road with a pocketknife, bubblegum and a rock or Rory, who's bound to have the right tool!
That was my XJ that Rory welded back together for me. I break something every year in Moab. In the past, it was always something I can fix myself on the trail. Was hoping to never need Rory's service, but when I did, was so glad he was available and knew exactly who to call. Thanks Rory and Mike!
looked like he called Rory the welder and geometry specialist. 😉
What does a repair like that average on cost?
It’s worth every penny cause the jeep wasn’t moving and DNR frowns on leaving your items in national parks and they will fine you c’mon man
@@Dodsonmonty I don't know, and it's not great move for Gzr to tell since that makes it harder for Rory to charge more in the future. Just speculating, as that looked like it took the better part of a day and Rory is one of the few guys that can even do that work, if he isn't charging at least 800 the customer is getting a hell of a deal. Even at 800 that would be an amazing deal for an on trail welding repair and honestly should probably be double. Rory is such a nice guy though I bet he isn't charging what he really should be.
Neato rig 👍
Awsome goin the extra mile!!! Not just repairing the complaint, but COMPLEATLY repairing this "GEOMETRY" 😉 LOVE IT guys
Love the aerial view at the end of your video of the recovery vehicles in front of the shop pretty cool
Thanks for the new video, Rory! I look forward to each one.
If you own an XJ, always carry a coil & a crank sensor, along with the ratchet, sockets & extension to change them.
Another great fix on the trail. You are amazing. Be safe and take care buddy.
Live to see what you can do on the trail. Thanks for the lesson
Fantastic 👏 trailside repair, great job showing the reason something failed and just saying "Gee it broke, and I fixed it"
We can see the years of experience and knowledge of what works and what doesn't out in the real world.
Keep up with the excellent 👌 videos and I'll keep watching em...
Thanks Rory, if I break down in Moab I’ll know who to call!!!
Was a good thing you thought to check the other side! Saved another call out!
I enjoy watching what you do.
Someone is getting more comfortable with a camera being around, also a cameraman. Videos are great and getting to see some true trail fixes. I would also like to see more of your shop builds.
Nice on the trail Welding Repair.
I thought the same thing about geometry when I was in 10th grade.
And yes I did have to use it a lot working as a machinist for over 40 years.
Learning all kinds of interesting things, Thank you👍👍
Nice job Rory. That first XJ was pretty damn clean..💪👍👍
Both nice looking Jeeps. Now they will be even better once Rory gets a hold of them. Nice job.
As always Rory, top notch work and driving!
Nice rescues Rory, always enjoy your videos
Great crew and video. Doing your job day in and day out. Mater!
Great Job Mater and Crew!
Another successful trail fix no suprise you're skills are bar none Rory great video keep up the good work 😉👍
Great job Rory be able to weld out and I feel like that to get somebody home keep the good videos coming
Wow! Never seen sheet metal used as a spring hanger.
Good morning dose of trail mater thanks for sharing
Love XJ's. Thanks for sharing!
Gotta love that rig! She’s a tank!
Sweet trail repair!
When you're the best it never ends!
its a catch22 with the rear shackles on the XJs, the 45° shackle angle rides the best, and allows for more axle droop\articulation. but obviously puts more stress on the flimsy stock sheetmetal leaf spring hanger. when the shackle is straight up and down 90° the ride quality, and your braking really suffer.
10:20… Rory is the Master of dry understatement.
Best office ever and another great job well done
Good job making sure that XJ was good to go
