Can we just talk about how WHOLESOME. THE MOVIE IS?
Sonic and Knuckles coming to terms with their respective losses. Sonic calling Tom DAD. The look on Marsden's face. AHHH. Tails hugging Sonic, wrapping his tails around him, telling Sonic about his backstory being VULNERABLE. Sonic missing Longclaw that voice acting when Sonic was like "Nonono ah...", Sonic and Knuckles on the beach, the trio playin' the base of ball.....damn Ben, Colleen, and Idris killed it. I think I can see why this just gravitates with people even non sonic fans. It's wholesome.
And while it's not a RECREATION of the sonic games exactly, I think after lion king 2019, we've all realized we don't WANT movies to be recreations of things from the past. We just want them to be respectful of the property they're adapting. Sonic does exactly that. It's its own thing, separate from the games, while still honoring where it comes from.
Also the end credit scene had me shamelessly shadow boxing in the theater next to college bros who were screaming, and the moment they said "50 years" people were chatty, kids were YELLING "shadow, it's shadow shadow's here!" it was so AWESOME. God I love movie theater experiences.

The only one screaming over Shadow in my theatre was my brother…I even heard a kid say “Who’s that?”

But yes, this movie is very wholesome, Tails is a cinnamon roll that must be protected and watching Knuckles be so happy over ice cream and sprinkles was adorable.
(And the parallels with Sonic playing baseball on his own in the first movie and with his friends on the second…**chefs kiss**)
I just love this movie, man…

Fun fact: If you listen VERY VERY CLOSELY, you can actually hear the drowning theme from Sonic 2 when Sonic in the movie is in the water and he can't swim back up. Also its duration like 2-3 seconds so be sure not to miss it.

The scene where Sonic and Tails dance-fight to Uptown Funk was so much fun to see.
Sonic finally saying “Gotta go fast” was a huge yup moment for me.
I think why the first movie didn't really delve into Sonic's history is because, he was just being introduced, we can't assume that everyone who watched the first movie to be a Sonic fan, for its purpose, I think the first movie nailed it right in the head and successfully started a new franchise.
The scene when knuckles finds out eggman isnt on his side and said "i trusted you, you were my friend" it broke my heart
Why does it feel like I'm the only one that likes the wedding scene? It set up GUN, was genuinely funny, and showed more of Tails' tech. It's alright to have humans in a Sonic movie as long as they have a purpose, and in this movie they did have a purpose

It may be just me, but I really like Tom and Maddie, I like how there plot points in the movie directly tie back to sonic and I also love how in love they are. Like Maddie being the most mentally stable character is something that really makes me happy, I also love how much Tom cares for sonic. I want Tom and Maddie to stay in the main cast (ofc not overshadow the cgi characters) but just keep them there, for my sake. I also think stone is a great addition and could possibly replace Robotnik, (fingers crossed Carrey does at least one more Sonic movie tho). As for the other human characters (I don’t count robotnik as human cuz he existed b4 the movies) they’re funny no doubt, but in my opinion can ultimately be faded into the background, i liked the reveal at the end of the wedding scene, but instead of jumping to Rachel’s revenge, the could’ve used that time on Maddie getting to the boys and/ or sonic and Tom who were locked up. Overall I love Tom and Maddie and stone, and think they are a great addition to the sonic franchise.

I saw it opening night, and it was fantastic! It was everything I wanted it to be! Sonic gets great character development, Tails is adorable, Knuckles is a badass, and Eggman is as crazy as ever. I am soo hyped for Sonic 3!
I watched Sonic 2 today, I love the sonic franchise, I loved this movie overall. Wonderful message, loveable, well-known characters, perfection.
I really hope they focus on sonic and shadow in the 3rd movie. I hope there is only some filler in it so that we focus on the fighting and the rivalry between the two so we could really emerge in the story. Hope it’s not rushed as well. See you for the next movue
5:07 ok, around that moment, they should've had them playing "16BIT Magic" (cuz it caters to both OG Sonic fans, especially since a Sonic 2 song, and regular audience member's with a Bruno Mars song) and, for shits and giggles, have Sonic and Tails dance like Modern and Classic Sonic from that old 2010 videos.

I loved this movie . I was so amazed by the cgi or vfx whatever you call it . And tails was so cute. I want to cuddle him . It was a fun and wholesome movie to watch .
I wanted to SQUEEZE tails.
Let's just hope that the Mario movie is just as good if not better.

Sonic 2 was genuinely a really fun, entertaining and good movie. The directing wasn’t horrible and the story line appealed to kids while also appealing to older, nostalgic sonic fans. The constant references to the older games or even tv shows was an amazing touch and the ending made me so excited like so genuinely happy. Best video game movie i’ve seen.
In the underwater scene you can hear the faint drowning music but I kinda wish it was louder to hear in the cinema but better than nothing I guess❤️💙💛

I completely agree, I too would pay full price to see this movie again but purely from tails' perspective.
The last time I’ve been at the movies was when the first movie came out
Now after 2 years I’ve returned to the movies to see the second movie last Friday
Also I freaking love both of these movies there definitely my favorite movies based on video games
Detective pikachu being my 3rd favorite
Also that after credits scene made me squeal in pure joy I was so gitty after that
This movie was just.... wooooooow!
The characters were great, the voice actors were great, the people were boring but still fun to watch and the ending is just chef's kis.
I hope Somic 3 will be even better than the first and the second combined .
Jim Carrey was great, Idris Elba was funny and gave knuckels a really cool personality, Colleen O'Shaughnessey was great for the voice of tails, Ben Schwartz was great as a sonic again, Natasha Rothwell was funny but also a bit boring back then she wasn't mad anymore and the rest did a good job

Yh even though part of the dance and wedding scene were unnecessary this was a great film I’d give it a 7.5/10 but the film could’ve been better if the wedding scene was cut down like we could’ve had tails origin flashback and discuss more about his past with sonic then he’d also talk about his past on how it felt to be lonely for 10 years just watching everyone laugh and have fun while he’d force to be hidden then tails would give sonic a hug and then sonic would embrace him saying but hey at least we have each other and the past is the past so let’s look forward to the future.
Then in the skii fight knuckles and sonic should’ve had a longer fight where knuckles throws out more punches and shockwaves and sonic does rapid kicks on him and then they’d clash their fists having a huge shockwave echo out and then we cut to tails and eggman fighting each other and then tails realises a quill on eggman so he distracts him for a while and blasts him while tails puts some bombs and a smokescreen and then he’d send eggman flying and would rush to sonic and then sonic and knuckles would be fighting and sonic lands rapid hits on him then knuckles blocks and kicks him really hard shattering the rock like before and then we’d have knuckles origin of course.
In the temple fight we then see knuckles and sonic have a 6 minute fight while knuckles dialogues on the life he’s been through and sonic would say the same as well on how they were both isolated for a long time and one was forced to be hidden forever while the other one had been training his entire life to beat him and then the whole scene would go like before just longer fighting then we have eggmans betrayal and then after he finishes his sentence knuckles and sonic rush at him really fast both going directly for the face itd then cut to slow mo as eggman smiles and his eyes glow green knuckles and sonic would be shocked and then eggman would grab them by the neck and blast them away multiple times not letting them move an inch and then eggman would fully get the master emerald and say the one of the best lines from the film,”CHAOS IS POWERRRRR”

My main complaint is that not only they did not use any Sonic music other than Donut Lord's ringtone, but they didn't even use a Sonic 2 song for that. It was Green Hill Zone again, when they could have used Emerald Hill or Chemical Plant.
In the after credits I shouted so loud that my lungs still hurt
I watched it 2 days ago and personally I thought it was great! A fun time! (however if I had known The Bad Guys had came out before I would’ve watched that)

honest thoughts. And the sonic movie 2 had some... interesting moments. Filler was a bit of a problem, but, it was sonic. But the fact that it was so out of context. Made it even better.
Favorite line in the movie: “You’re about as useful to me right now as a backstage pass to Limp Bizkit!”

Me and my cousin were supposed to watch the first movie again today but my older cousin really needed to play fifa ( *life is hell* )

Another thing, in one scene sonic turns into the yellow sonic (forgot the name) and before he did I was saying to my friend and I quote "He's gonna turn yellow he is 100% gonna become yellow"
The director of the second film said in an interview with polygon that the 3rd movie is gonna have a much serious tone so I’m incredibly hyped!!
The ending was absolutely intense but it might have gone for a tiny bit too long, but what happened just before robotnik got defeated was UGGGHHHH I WAS SO HYPED TO SEE IT AND ALL SONIC FANS WOULD GO CRAZY

Sonic and Sonic 2 are like, some of my favourite movies ever? (and when you made that TASM connection, i feel like i know why. The Webb Spider-Man movies are the ones i grew up with and my absolute favourite movies). Pulled me right back into the Sonic franchise too.
I love how the official team behind it is handling it as well. Have you seen their Twitter? They are as hyped as the fans and so nice. It's one of the few Twitter accounts i follow, because it's only good vibes.
They also respect the source material so much. From the posters refferencing games, to the movie refferencing so much.

I really loved this movie. I'm also one of the few people who actually enjoyed the Wedding scene. I was laughing and enjoying myself.
I would the movie was really great personally I feel that everything was handled well and they learn from the first film. Though I wish they would have used some more or the classic sounds and songs. Especially where Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were racing towards the robot. Would have been the perfect place for a Sonic heroes remix :)

But really, rampage was the first good video game movie, it was just quickly forgotten.
I really appreciated this movie some things I don't like, but passing is the issue. the dance should have been changed with sonic going slow motion and grabbing tails, and the map then going to bed. The wedding is too long maybe make the first part then g.u.n. comes in a quick way, then Sonic, tails, and tom get captured in a quick way, then boom, Rachel zooms in a quick way, then smooch Randal ) jeez, Jeff Fowler, this is for kids, not someone marring a agent. (That made me cringe). Enough of me talking trash let's get the VISUALES. This movie had the most fantastic visuals ever, even the fight scenes with "Sonic The Hedgehog VS Knuckles The Echidna" I loved them all and " The Master Emerald was a bit small even for Robotnik making and braking machines with the power of a small emerald but it would make a higher payment for the movie if it was big.

I watched it on release day(UK) I loved this movie and super sonic really surprised me same with shadow his character design still looks wip though I would hate for him to look like that in sonic 3 knuckles voice actor was perfect same with tails the wedding scene was terrible I hate how they went over knuckles past and tails in less then 5 minutes otherwise this movie was great and cant wait for sonic 3! ( i didnt like the dance party thing but when I was watching 5 2 year olds left in the first 30m so I guess it was for the kids but it was really cute the ending and really shows how tails cares and looks up to sonic)

Sonic is one of the best selling video games out there
Well, as a Sonic fan, I feel like the reason why some Sonic fans wanted them to make the movies more in line with the games and appeal to OG fans is because then they wouldn't have to worry about every Sonic fans' least favorite phrase, "appeal to everyone." And there's a reason for that. The Sonic fandom, at least for the games, is split into different categories. One is Classic, one is Adventure, and one is Boost (though you could argue it could be split into even more, but these are the 3 big ones). Nowadays, the recent mainline games seem to be trying to appeal to all of these fans, so thank Takashi Iizuka for that, and while there are times where this works, like Generations, Sonic Team being Sonic Team tends to pump out more misses than hits. An example of this is in Sonic Forces, where they had Modern Sonic's boost gameplay, but also shoved in Classic Sonic's 2D gameplay which was completely unneeded, considering it didn't play well, as well as the fact that Mania came out a few months prior. This is what I'm assuming those Sonic fans were afraid of, but I disagree. First off, games are different from movies. That should be an obvious one. You don't have to worry about appealing to different gameplay styles, since, you know. It's the story that you have to worry about, and that subject in the games is much more united than gameplay. Every Sonic fan agrees that the 90s and 2000s stories were good, and the 2010s stories were trash. With story to focus on, those gameplay lines that separate Sonic fans disappear, and now you really only have undivided Sonic fans and casual viewers to worry about appealing. So, with the movies, I don't see the fear of "appealing to everyone" as justified. That can stay in the games. Oh, and Awesomemay. If you're worried about them adding old lore that you wouldn't understand, don't worry. I see them being able to have Shadow's arc (that's a pun for any Adventure fan out there), and maybe Chaos in the future in a way that doesn't expect the audience to know what they're talking about, since in the games they have exposition, and characters learing things about the situation and lore along with the audience. There isn't a game that I can think of where they already know about some old temple and we, the audience, just have to catch up with it. So, you don't have much to worry about either.
