    The ATEM Extreme addressed many of these issues. I know it’s not a direct comparison with eight inputs as opposed to four but this unit not streaming and recording makes it a different category in my mind. The assignable USB out is a cool feature. For troubleshooting it showing the frame rate and res on the input side is very helpful.

  • @Red.Christopher
    @Red.Christopher Před 2 lety +10

    I can see this being the right tool for the job in several situations as It has a nice feature set for those who do conference recording/streaming. Just having the ability for a dual PIP over a background is worth it at that price point. And, I am Ok with having to use an external recorder/streamer as there are plenty of options available. But what I really like is not having to connect a laptop just to change settings. I'm going to have to give it a hard look.

  • @LearnLightAndSoundSessions

    Thanks for covering this, Aaron. Nice to see a competing product with some really nice features.

  • @Graham_Rule

    I like the power button. I run an ATEM Mini Extreme at work and people are constantly getting worried that it has accidentally been left on and looking for the power switch. I'll probably end up with just having the whole rack unplugged at the end of the day. I just hope things are done in the right order as there are things that need to be shut down properly.

    The speed these devices and their reviews come out is maddening. Please don't think I am now ditching the Atem within a year and switch to this device? For our simple use in small churches the Atem Mini Pro is almost perfect. Mostly operated by non technical people all they need is a couple of simple buttons and nothing else. The options on this AVMatrix are only complicating things and scaring people off. But then that's my situation.

    Nice review Aaron. I really like the features in this mixer.
    One quick question, what about image quality?
    Some months ago I read a review regarding this mixer, they compared the ATEM mini Line with this Avmatrix, and mentioned some slight color and gamma shift when compared with the source.
    Did you had time to run some tests regarding quality lost after the digital processing?
    Thank you

    Hi Aaron, please do a full review on the Avmatrix hvs0402u product. I would love to see a combo of using the Avmatrix hvs0402u with the yolobox pro. Seems like it could be a better combo than using Yolobox pro with the atem mini pro.

    Based on your review, I think I'd rather feed this (vs the atem mini) into my Yolobox Pro if needed extra video sources and audio delay. Trying to avoid the computer and item software.

    That looks pretty neat! Does it have a 3DVE so it can flip and rotate an input source? I have an ATEM Mini, which doesn't have one, and it makes it useless for me as one of my inputs is a down facing DSLR and I need to rotate the image 180deg.

    If this had streaming and ISO recording it would be perfect for most of what I do.
    You didn't go into software, does it have programmable macros and assignable shortcut keys? What's the audio control like?
    With all it can do, I would probably recommend it over the ATEM Mini and Pro but not the ISO or Extremes.

  • @aalonso55

    Purchased one recently. It is very nice, well built, but unfortunately may be sending it back. I've been testing it out sending the program feed via the USB into OBS. When using it everything looks perfect in the multiview but in OBS I can see it dropping frames. Did an A/B test and tried switching to HDMI Capture card (also via) usb and video was smooth. When I switch back the problem persists. Shame. This thing is REALLY nice, especially the built in menu in the multiview and the T Bar is just so nice.

  • @andrewp1513
    @andrewp1513 Před 2 lety +1

    Using the usb c out for multi view would allow me to use a hdmi out with a separate capture card for my computer, and possibly use the 2nd hdmi out to encode to CZcams. Would a USB c to USB A cord serve an older type USB monitor? And which cheap encoder to go for? Probably the same price range as an ATEM mini extreme at that point, but I think I like not relying on my computer for the ATEM app..

  • @JamieWhitehorn
    @JamieWhitehorn Před 2 lety +3

    Very nice video and the HVS0402U does seem to be more feature rich than the ATEM Mini, but there is a bit of a price difference at least in the UK. ATEM Mini ~£260 AVMatrix HVS0402U ~£550, so that's pretty much double the price. Even the ATEM Mini Pro is ~£460 which is still cheaper. But I can see where the stand alone features could be a clincher for people 😊

    Hi Aaron. I am thinking of getting the Stem mini for use with my MacBook and Mac Mini. However I also have a Chromebook. Would the Atem hardware still work as a webcam switcher etc for a Chromebook? I realise the software would not be compatible, but if I could use it to add additional HDMI inputs on my Chromebook that would suffice. I have a cheap HDMI capture card that works on the Chromebook so can't see why the Atem wouldn't.

    @AaronParecki @AVMATRIX. I purchased an AV Matrix. I connected my Canon RP camera to it using a brand new high-quality USB to HDMI cable. The AV Matrix did not recognize it. Does a camera have to be configured a certain way for the switcher to recognize it? Please help.

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  Před 2 lety

      You'll need to connect the camera with an HDMI cable, not a USB-to-HDMI cable. I don't have any Canon cameras but it does look like the Canon RP has the option for "clean HDMI out", so make sure you also look up that setting to make it work. But you'll definitely need a regular HDMI cable to connect the two. I'm not sure what kind of USB-to-HDMI cable you have or what that would work with.

      @neonvoid Před 2 lety

      @@aaronpk thats actually a lots of big features. i agree not 100%, but the big ones are supported. logo support, although not as convenient, is achievable with the atem. sure, there is no on/off button but you can easily order a cable with a switch on amazon, not a dealbreaker. on the other hand, the atem has ISO recording on all 8 channels simultaneously WHILE it can also stream in the same time without a laptop, etc. it's an impressive device though, i'm always keeping an open eye for new tech & thank you for the review & comparison, it was very interesting. i'm keeping the atem for now though. :)
      (roland has some pretty impressive streaming video mixers too, but those are also lacking some key features the atem can do).
