For funeral live streaming, the YB and YB pro have been ideal. The small simple setup allows me to offer multiple locations for same event, like church then cemetery.

Two things to add on audio capablities and video quality: we are releasing another update next week to enable audio mixing(next next update will be to have the audio delay adjustment); video quality(contrast/accuracy/framerate) , even sufficient in most use cases, is actually being optimized in every update, it's a long term R&D objective for us here. I've also seen my ATEM Mini Extreme ISO lock up when streaming. No response for those controls on the ATEM Control Software, or Companion, or even on the physical buttons. And the recording system had also frozen up. I'd not been using it when the stream stopped but it couldn't see my disk or start recording. Oddly, everything else about the system was working fine - including USB output to a Zoom webinar.

I'm doing streaming for basketball games in multiple locations, and the all inclusive touchscreen is a definite selling point . Also, after using Sling Studio, I'm definitely into the ease of operation with the touch screen/PIP/graphics/etc that Yolobox Pro brings to the table.
Aaron I think one of the major advantages of the YoloBox Pro is the ability to easily incorporate social media comments from viewers into your stream. I have the ATEM Mini now and strongly considering a YoloBox to use them together, and I like the idea of being on the road with 2 devices, that should one fail - I can always switch over quickly to the other. Which means I would soon be buying some of the nice stands you designed!!! Love the videos!
Sorry, but it has been awhile since I last viewed your channel. I love my Atem mini pro. I have not reached it’s limits yet. I teach, and it helped me created content during distance learning. But I unfortunately saw Tom Buck’s video on the YoloBox Pro. It just arrived a few days ago. I ran an input cable into my Atem mini pro, and I love that flexibility. Now I see that you made a similar connection. That gives me confidence that I am going in the right direction. Thanks so very much for for insight and experience. Awesome job as usual... I'm happy that I don't have to regret getting the Extreme, perhaps I didn't need to spring the extra for the ISO, but it gives me the option to use it for weddings or other church events where I might need to fix stuff in post. Thanks again. The AVmatrix looks like it has potential too though, but the lack of direct streaming on that is a deal breaker in my current application.

Not sure if this is a good metaphor but Yolo seems much more futuristic like Tesla while ATEM is a traditional car manufacturer. I’m hoping that the innovation will finally win.
I just returned my YBP after a month of use. It has serious flaws, the main one being dropping frames (with the frame drop counter confusingly staying at zero). After a lot of e-mails with the tech support, and some tests I did, they told me "due to the current technical solutions we use on YoloBox, this kind of frame lost cannot be avoid while streaming." I am experiencing 27% frame drops which brings the average frame rate from 25 fps to just 18 fps. They added: "Then even with the replacement unit the situation might be the same."
There should be no dropping frames if you are streaming or recording locally to the SD card. If you are outputting the stream to an external recorder to record, there may be frames duplications(as we set a rather higher fps). It’s something we are working on to improve(as originally YoloBox Pro is not mainly made for recording externally.)
@@frankfengzhu Hi Feng, maybe I got a faulty unit. I really liked it, it reduced my setup to just Yolobox and a few cameras, and I am willing to purchase some new and improved product from Yololiv again. As for my setup, I was not outputting the stream to external recorder, I didn't use USB-C (neither for input nor output), nor did I use HDMI output. I only used 3 HDMI inputs, and the SD card recording. The recording is 25 fps (which is what Media Info utility shows, and Adobe Premiere also recognizes it as 25 fps), so it's not a higher frame rate with duplicated frames. I understand how frame rate conversion works, otherwise. The tests I did showed duplicated frames on 25 fps. I am thankful that the tech support answered honestly that replacing the unit may not solve the issue. I will continue to follow Yololiv for future updates, and I apologize if this comment offended you and your team, but I think customers must be warned of this. It works great with a single camera, that's true. But honestly, I think your next product should include an FPGA based dedicated hardware video mixer, and then feed that into an Android device, so the CPU doesn't have to do all the work.
I personally haven't had any overheating issues with either. I know some people have complained about how hot the ATEM Mini gets, but it really hasn't been a problem for me.
I saw another guy on CZcams who connected a Logitech Keyboard with trackpad and mouse through the Logitech USB dongle he inserted into the Yolobox Pro. And it worked perfectly fine, there was even a mouse pointer appearing on the screen!
Yeah that's pretty cool! Personally I'd never use it that way most of the time. Maybe if I was having to type a bunch of names for lower thirds for an event it would be faster to use a real keyboard.
Very interesting video. The Yolo looks wonderful, but since my most important concern is how to now also live stream (rather than just recoding) live classical chamber music concerts, some model of the Mini preferable. We use Blumlein-paired Neuman KN184 mics, if possible preamped through our Sound Design 232 while switching and possibly PIPing between two fixed (a Panasonic G85 and an Olympus EM1ii and a mobile cameras (an Olympus EM1iii, rather than any camera or the Mini's preamp,( Mic cable runs can be 20-25 feet, so the lack of XLR, BNC inputs is concerning, and we really can't justify spending yet more on equipment which obsoletes quickly, and may become unnecessary in the near(?) future when seating/spacing regs relax. Have access to an iPad or M1 Mac Mini and a monitor, but operation has to be as simple as possible to minimize distraction to musicians and audience from the front-row position the historic and acoustically very live venue necessitates. Also to, as 1 person, be able to concentrate on shooting. The ISO model, with its retention of separate RAW streams and possibility of further post remixing is attractive. I surmise that the sound quality is essentially the same as the "pro", but better than the base model.
The preamps in the ATEM Mini aren't great, so you'll get some noise if you run mics directly into it. But you can get perfectly fine audio running line out from a mixer into the ATEM Mini. As far as I know all ATEM Mini models have the same audio hardware internally.
@@aaronpk Thank you for the quick reply, but please note that I *want* to feed the mic's (via balanced XLR cables) into the Sound Design 232 Digital recorder and its preamps in order to both digitally record the sound and also to feed to the Mini Pro at line level (short cable run, so it shouldn't matter), frame delayed to synch it with the video stream. (Your video makes me wonder whether this could be done more simply with the YoloBox Pro.) I was considering the Roland V1HD, but its fan is much too noisy.
Thank you so much for this comparison. I've been trying to find a comparison between picture quality of software encoders like Wirecast, OBS and hardware encoders like ATEM and this video is right there in that area. It would be great if you could do a comparison of video quality between SW and HW encoders. I'm not very satisfied with using NVENC x264 encoding with Wirecast and considering switching to hardware encoders for simultaneous streaming and recording hoping for better quality.
thanks for the comparison of the yolobox and ateam mini. I have all 3. yolobox 1 .yolobox pro and the atem mini pro. I like all 3 but the yolobox saves time doing livestreams and is easier to use. but you can use ateam mini with the 2 yolobox a unique combination :) also yolobox pro is compatible with ateam mini pro usb c and you can use another monitor for multi view.
What is the difference between the mini pro and the acon mini pro ISO and that goes with the same as the extreme Pro and the extreme Pro ISO what are the difference

But i had built in all stuff in a hard case with a monitor with audio jack. And use a in build hyperdeck mini for recorded grafics etc. I use the system for musik live streaming on my TV channel BMS web TV. Br Thomas.
Quíck question, i know that if we stream from home with good and fast internet we pick Constant Quality on Yolobox Pro. But if i bring my Yolobox to stream on the street with LTE Simcard have download and upload speed about 25mb/sec what setting should i do, quality and birates. Thanks for your help

In my opinion, both products are not really comparable. Both may be video switchers, but while the YoloBox is an all-in-one solution that requires no additional computer, the ATEM Mini needs some more stuff to work well. I am convinced that it mostly depends on personal needs, which of these two products is better or worse.

I don’t thing it’s a comparisons. This is aspect of each device explained. But a comparison is when you take each spec/ feature , and then compare the device to a device in this regard. Not just frames green scrn and yes bugs. But the bugs alone probably is the a reason as a big difference and not use the YB at all. The YB has failed me so much I never regretted so much buying any device as I have regretted buying the YB, when it needed to be put to the serious use. You would expect it to do a pro job when paying three times the cost of ATEM mini. Please listen to me and don’t do the same mistake .

Wanted to ask 3 things: 1. Can png images be imported from computer to the Yolobox via USB or SD card to be used? 2. Can the settings e.g. PiP profile be saved for the next "creation" or it has to be reassigned on each "creation" since I wanted to use the same PiP setting each time? 3. How many PiP profiles can be set up in each creation e.g. can one PiP profile be HDMI 1 small and HDMI 2 as background, and vice versa for the second PiP be set up in the same "creation"? Aaron, I'm sure it's been asked, but does the Yolobox Pro have any audio/video sync challenges like the ones the ATEM Mini Pro corrected with delay comp in the audio section? I'm thinking about getting a YBP, and putting my MixPre ahead of the audio in to compensate for the limited audio control in the YBP itself.... but that begets the potential for A/V sync issues .
The YoloBox Pro is more than twice the price of the ATEM Mini Pro ... 💰 Yes, the screen is nice, but having physical buttons (ATEM) is a _major_ advantage for operating _fast_ without looking at the device.
This is why I keep telling YoloLiv they need to open up support for third-party controllers so you could use it with a Stream Deck and have actual buttons! Physical buttons should not be underestimated!

Hi Aaron, I had a question - forgive me for just jumping onto one of your videos for the comment. - I'm trying to find the most efficient way to accomplish something and hopefully find a free or low cost solution and hope you can help. In using something like Super Source or even just to have multiple remote guests, (especially ones that may not be very tech savvy) what can i use to bring in each guest on their own input? Zoom is nice and all but, the boxes of who is where constantly shift, and can't always rely on the who's talking speaker view. I'd like to be able to select and control who's on my program feed (and also record each one on my ISOs. - If you have a video on this already, could you direct me to a link? your advice is much appreciated.

I may have summarized that a bit too quick. There are two parts. The monitor is an SDI monitor that has an image flip feature built in. The second part is an SDI matrix that lets me route various sources to the different monitors around the studio. Aaron, great video! I’m recording with Atem mini pro using all four hdmi inputs for my studio. But the sound is always giving me a static noise regardless of what mics I’m using. Even Rode 2 wireless is recording with a static noise. Any recommendations or solutions?
Do you know how to get sound from zoom meeting? When I interview others, only their audio come from zoom meeting to YoloBox Pro. Not mine when I live stream on CZcams.
Question: do you know if the stems can interact with the Blackmagic video assist as it can with some Blackmagic cameras? I think this is a great feature, allowing to automatically replace the recorded clip with higher definition files in post
I don't think the Video Assist has the same integration with the ATEMs as the Blackmagic Pocket cameras do. You can of course still record on them and swap out the clips manually, you just don't get the automatic recording and timecode syncing.

In option 2, I know that YoloBox Pro is device for this function. But for option 1, Yolo Box Pro is ideal device ? YoloBox Pro allows to mix 3 different signals directly on the monitor, correct? But they tell me the output of the equipment requires the use of a SIM card data. What is SIM CARD function in this device? Only To broadcast the event, right? I was almost decided to buy ATEM mini Pro (din not know about Yolo, just some Roland switchers), but was put off on almost on purpose prohibited ability to do a splitted HDMI output. We wanted to provide second TV in a small studio, so that the performers might see what's in the pipeline, tried several HDMI splitters, none of the worked. Does Yolo (Pro) allow to split the signal? Or does any solution supports kind of a Tally?
There's definitely some HDMI splitters that work with the ATEM Mini, but it might take a bit to find them. They are such commodity devices now that there's tons of cheap ones available which sometimes have trouble. Try using a slightly more expensive one than you've been testing so far. Personally I run my ATEM Mini outputs into HDMI-SDI converters which then are able to be routed to any number of screens around my studio. The HDMI-SDI converter might be a good option for you since it has an HDMI out for your local display and you could use a longer SDI cable to run to the secondary TV. The same is true with the YoloBox, I've had some HDMI splitters fail to work with it and others work fine.
I am only 6 (of 27) minutes in and Aaron’s approach to comparing the device approaches/philosophies is already a tour de force. Well done! Plus we get anecdotal examples of how Aaron uses the various flavors of devices. Bravo!
There’s a whole category of device, and of user, that seems entirely missed. Micro PCs, and people needing mobile broadcasting. GPD Pocket 3 looks to me a much better tool to buy (noting you’d need an extra dongle for 2nd and 3rd camera in). Cheaper than YoloBox Pro, plus it's a full fledged powerful computer (especially plugged in) and you can turn down TDP (even at low as 6watt ) for serious battery time. My planned use is fully mobile full quality live broadcasting. I’m really curious though if others can see any likely issues. I understand not going to do 16Mb or even 10Mb stream via tethered phone, but still will be miles ahead of stream bandwidth that mobile providers allow you when using a phone app to directly stream. ‘Real gigs’ I’m recording at varied venues, sometime a fair walk from parking so I really load up to carry the full kit in one go, I am buying a device now to add streaming now and a microPC seems like the ultimate have+eat my cake, as it’s not adding a lot of weight to my indoor kit, and I should be able to rig it with a pro camcorder to have full control of a livestream while walking and shooting. But as I'm just imaging how this will work, looking for any input.
I really don't expect you'll get good results with that setup. The cheaper GPD Pocket 3 does not have a very powerful processor. The i7 processor is on the more expensive $1000 GPD Pocket 3, and that's the minimum I would expect to work well. I also suspect the USB bandwidth internally is going to be pretty limiting, one capture card will probably be fine, but I doubt you'd be able to use 2 or 3 well at all. By all means give it a try, but I suspect you won't be happy with the result. Please report back if it does end up working well though, because that GPD Pocket 3 is super cute!
@@aaronpk Thanks for responding! I’m quite surprised processor power would be a concern. My i7-5700HQ (2015 cpu, 47w typical) is total overkill. I did a 1 hour 20 minute concert for someone as a test, 1080p60 at 16000 Mbps (ethernet, to a fibre line the whole complex shares, somehow it’s allowed by ISP). On AC. The system resources consumed was quite minimal. I tried from my i5-5200u (2014, 15w typical, only 2 cores) on battery and after 1 hour it was down to 78% remaining. I added a second capture dongle (PPT from another laptop) and streamed that with the live video overlaid. Didn’t really see any impact. The Pocket 3’s i7-1195G7 is just shy of 5 times the score of the 5200U. (noting cpubenchmark.net isn’t a benchmark of this use case, more of a general guide) That’s certainly the only one I think anyone would consider, and it’s still cheaper than the YoloBox. Especially in canada. That’s at a higher typical TDP, but I can always have a battery bank in a backpack kept connection, or just set it to lower TDP and still be more powerful. Right? Or is there another way to look at that? Even considering software in YoloBox is optimized, as the QualComm 660 is a general purpose chip and you can look up the max TFLOPS, it’s looks to be in a vastly lower tier of computational power.
@@aaronpk Are you familiar with how the Pocket 3 has an HDMI input option? Or have used dongles? I’ve just never heard of anyone talking about USB bandwidth as an concern. EposVox is the main resource that got me to see them as viable. You can get 1080p30 via USB 2. I watched his vid but still didn’t trust the dongles, because they are so insanely cheap, so I’ve bought a bunch that look like maybe different models to increase odds. All work, are USB2 expect one is USB3 so it does 1080p60. One issue is the one that isn't all metal but has a cable, and cuts in and out when you bend the cable -which you should expect @ $20.) My understanding is it’s using only a tiny fraction of USB3 bandwidth but if you have any sort of resources you could link about this, I am keen to read up. I’m sure there are practical challenges I’m just not picturing. The key thing is this all indoors, via Ethernet. Going outdoors feels like a big jump and wish someone else would leap before me : ) or at least imagine going through the motions in their mind and come up with potential issues. Outdoors will only be one camera, so no dongles. What I'm really hoping for is to hear what you see as the difference compared to any other options, like the YoloBox Pro. Is build-in sim the sole advantage of it (in the case of only 1 source)? Meaning giving up all the flexibility of OBS? It's a hard sell, costing more too. If there was evidence it would yield higher real world bandwidth than tethering my phone, that would for sure change things.
@@dgSolidarity Yeah sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm sure the i7 in the Pocket 3 is good enough, but I really doubt the cheaper model with the low power CPU will be sufficient. So for the price comparison, you're starting out with two devices that are not that far off in price anyway. As a *separate* issue, there's a lot more than CPU power that will make a difference in the capabilities of a device, such as the internal USB bus. It's those kinds of things that tend to be where the manufacturers cut corners to save cost and size. For example the Raspberry Pi has some serious limits such as not being able to use the full ethernet speed if you are also using a webcam (or something to that effect, I can't remember exactly, but there are a lot of forum threads about similar things.) At the end of the day, I'm just not comfortable trying to push the limits of these kinds of low power general purpose devices. At least with the Yolobox, while it's a generic-purpose CPU inside, they have written super customized software on top to best take advantage of that CPU. And on top of all of that, there are just a bunch of reasons I don't like using OBS or similar software switchers for most things, and the idea of running that on a low power machine is just terrifying. But like I said, if if works for you then that's great!
@@aaronpk “low power general purpose devices” ???? I’m struggling to see what you’re referring too. It’s a non requiter to relate a Raspberry Pi to an 11th Gen Core i7 Rocket Lake based computer. And I have first hand experience showing a 5200u (7-year old 15 watt CPU) is way more powerful than necessary for 2 sources. Pocket3 is designed around full Windows 11 compliance, TPM 2.0. I too though it way to good to be true when I first heard of GPD. There’s years of Linus of LTT fawning over their products if that helps. If you can’t believe it is a powerful full-fledged PC, with Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, DDR4x etc. then I suggest you dig more into it to see for yourself. Side note, A qualcomm is not a generic purpose CPU, in comparison to a “real” computer, as-in X86. If you want a locked in interface, I absolutely wouldn’t argue with that. I’ve no doubt it’s the right tool for many people. Considering how vastly cheaper the internals are, and how locked in you are it feel much worse even than the Apple tax, based on the price. It is was half I would buy it today, but if a full flexible PC is less, and it’s more powerful than a majority of desktops people use today for live broadcasting (just a statistical guess, based on lower tower turnover the last 10 years) that’s an extremely hard sell. I understand there’s a caveat with using cpubenchmark results, but it’s still useful as a direct comparison between chips I think. Why not look at the score of your main rig, and of your most powerful laptop, and compare that to the 1195G7? You’re clearly saying those doing the bench-marking are wrong, and by a very large margin. Did you mean to say that? I honestly have zero interest in “arguing” tech. I am only reiterating well referenced sources I have read, in response to honestly baffling claims you have made. I have to question how honestly you are disagreeing, are you making things up about it being “low power” or did you look at all at the device I’m referring to before making recommendations? It’s quite rude to accuse I realize, but I am simply baffled. What I lack is practical streaming experience. So wondering about all the practical issues that may not be obvious. It’s a lot of money I’m looking at putting in either way, also getting a light pro camcorder, maybe a used XF100. I not keen on using saving until I understand all the options well.
If you first click "Save Startup State" in the software control then all the settings including the stream key will be saved if you restart the device!
Any updates on the Yolobox Pro capability to be seen as a webcam on Zoom (or other similar platforms) using one of the two USB-C Connectors? This is one feature that's holding me from getting a YoloBox Pro and sticking with my Atem.

This shouldn't have happened as I ask our team to be responsive in 24 hours, normally less than 1 hour in working time. The USB webcam out has been under development for over a month and was about to release and yet find new bugs after testing so we delayed the release. But should not be long.

I noticed that too! Superchats show up differently in the CZcams API, every time I've written code that deals with the CZcams api I get frustrated at how hard it is to handle all the special cases!

It's frustrating not being able to interact with your audience who donates from this device. The workaround is to have the livestream up on my cellphone. Two things to add on audio capablities and video quality: we are releasing another update next week to enable audio mixing(next next update will be to have the audio delay adjustment); video quality(contrast/accuracy/framerate) , even sufficient in most use cases, is actually being optimized in every update, it's a long term R&D objective for us here. We'll eventually build OBS/Ecamm Live in our little touchscreen control device that everybody could intuitively create professional livestreams like you do, as our mission is to make pro-video ACCESSIBLE for everyone! I've also seen my ATEM Mini Extreme ISO lock up when streaming. No response for those controls on the ATEM Control Software, or Companion, or even on the physical buttons. And the recording system had also frozen up. I'd not been using it when the stream stopped but it couldn't see my disk or start recording. Oddly, everything else about the system was working fine - including USB output to a Zoom webinar.
I discovered that in my Atem system was caused by the SSD. With other SSD don't freeze.

I'm doing streaming for basketball games in multiple locations, and the all inclusive touchscreen is a definite selling point . Also, after using Sling Studio, I'm definitely into the ease of operation with the touch screen/PIP/graphics/etc that Yolobox Pro brings to the table.

Aaron I think one of the major advantages of the YoloBox Pro is the ability to easily incorporate social media comments from viewers into your stream. I have the ATEM Mini now and strongly considering a YoloBox to use them together, and I like the idea of being on the road with 2 devices, that should one fail - I can always switch over quickly to the other. Which means I would soon be buying some of the nice stands you designed!!! Love the videos!

Sorry, but it has been awhile since I last viewed your channel. I love my Atem mini pro. I have not reached it’s limits yet. I teach, and it helped me created content during distance learning. But I unfortunately saw Tom Buck’s video on the YoloBox Pro. It just arrived a few days ago. I ran an input cable into my Atem mini pro, and I love that flexibility. Awesome job as usual... I'm happy that I don't have to regret getting the Extreme, perhaps I didn't need to spring the extra for the ISO, but it gives me the option to use it for weddings or other church events where I might need to fix stuff in post. Thanks again. The AVmatrix looks like it has potential too though, but the lack of direct streaming on that is a deal breaker in my current application.

I just returned my YBP after a month of use. It has serious flaws, the main one being dropping frames (with the frame drop counter confusingly staying at zero). After a lot of e-mails with the tech support, and some tests I did, they told me "due to the current technical solutions we use on YoloBox, this kind of frame lost cannot be avoid while streaming." I am experiencing 27% frame drops which brings the average frame rate from 25 fps to just 18 fps. They added: "Then even with the replacement unit the situation might be the same."
There should be no dropping frames if you are streaming or recording locally to the SD card. If you are outputting the stream to an external recorder to record, there may be frames duplications(as we set a rather higher fps). It’s something we are working on to improve(as originally YoloBox Pro is not mainly made for recording externally.)
@@frankfengzhu Hi Feng, maybe I got a faulty unit. I really liked it, it reduced my setup to just Yolobox and a few cameras, and I am willing to purchase some new and improved product from Yololiv again. As for my setup, I was not outputting the stream to external recorder, I didn't use USB-C (neither for input nor output), nor did I use HDMI output. I only used 3 HDMI inputs, and the SD card recording. The recording is 25 fps (which is what Media Info utility shows, and Adobe Premiere also recognizes it as 25 fps), so it's not a higher frame rate with duplicated frames. I understand how frame rate conversion works, otherwise. The tests I did showed duplicated frames on 25 fps. I am thankful that the tech support answered honestly that replacing the unit may not solve the issue. I will continue to follow Yololiv for future updates, and I apologize if this comment offended you and your team, but I think customers must be warned of this. It works great with a single camera, that's true. But honestly, I think your next product should include an FPGA based dedicated hardware video mixer, and then feed that into an Android device, so the CPU doesn't have to do all the work.

I personally haven't had any overheating issues with either. I know some people have complained about how hot the ATEM Mini gets, but it really hasn't been a problem for me.
I prefer the yolobox since I move around alot. Cant carry a computer everywhere with me. Plus I can use it as a monitor

I saw another guy on CZcams who connected a Logitech Keyboard with trackpad and mouse through the Logitech USB dongle he inserted into the Yolobox Pro. And it worked perfectly fine, there was even a mouse pointer appearing on the screen!
Yeah that's pretty cool! Personally I'd never use it that way most of the time. Maybe if I was having to type a bunch of names for lower thirds for an event it would be faster to use a real keyboard.
Very interesting video. The Yolo looks wonderful, but since my most important concern is how to now also live stream (rather than just recoding) live classical chamber music concerts, some model of the Mini preferable. We use Blumlein-paired Neuman KN184 mics, if possible preamped through our Sound Design 232 while switching and possibly PIPing between two fixed (a Panasonic G85 and an Olympus EM1ii and a mobile cameras (an Olympus EM1iii, rather than any camera or the Mini's preamp,( Mic cable runs can be 20-25 feet, so the lack of XLR, BNC inputs is concerning, and we really can't justify spending yet more on equipment which obsoletes quickly, and may become unnecessary in the near(?) future when seating/spacing regs relax. Have access to an iPad or M1 Mac Mini and a monitor, but operation has to be as simple as possible to minimize distraction to musicians and audience from the front-row position the historic and acoustically very live venue necessitates. Also to, as 1 person, be able to concentrate on shooting. The ISO model, with its retention of separate RAW streams and possibility of further post remixing is attractive. I surmise that the sound quality is essentially the same as the "pro", but better than the base model.
The preamps in the ATEM Mini aren't great, so you'll get some noise if you run mics directly into it. But you can get perfectly fine audio running line out from a mixer into the ATEM Mini. As far as I know all ATEM Mini models have the same audio hardware internally.
@@aaronpk Thank you for the quick reply, but please note that I *want* to feed the mic's (via balanced XLR cables) into the Sound Design 232 Digital recorder and its preamps in order to both digitally record the sound and also to feed to the Mini Pro at line level (short cable run, so it shouldn't matter), frame delayed to synch it with the video stream. (Your video makes me wonder whether this could be done more simply with the YoloBox Pro.) I was considering the Roland V1HD, but its fan is much too noisy.

I've been trying to find a comparison between picture quality of software encoders like Wirecast, OBS and hardware encoders like ATEM and this video is right there in that area. It would be great if you could do a comparison of video quality between SW and HW encoders. I'm not very satisfied with using NVENC x264 encoding with Wirecast and considering switching to hardware encoders for simultaneous streaming and recording hoping for better quality.

thanks for the comparison of the yolobox and ateam mini. I have all 3. yolobox 1 .yolobox pro and the atem mini pro. I like all 3 but the yolobox saves time doing livestreams and is easier to use. but you can use ateam mini with the 2 yolobox a unique combination :) also yolobox pro is compatible with ateam mini pro usb c and you can use another monitor for multi view.
What is the difference between the mini pro and the acon mini pro ISO and that goes with the same as the extreme Pro and the extreme Pro ISO what are the difference

But i had built in all stuff in a hard case with a monitor with audio jack.
And use a in build hyperdeck mini for recorded grafics etc.

In my opinion, both products are not really comparable. Both may be video switchers, but while the YoloBox is an all-in-one solution that requires no additional computer, the ATEM Mini needs some more stuff to work well. I am convinced that it mostly depends on personal needs, which of these two products is better or worse.

I don’t thing it’s a comparisons. This is aspect of each device explained.
But a comparison is when you take each spec/ feature , and then compare the device to a device in this regard. Not just frames green scrn and yes bugs.
But the bugs alone probably is the a reason as a big difference and not use the YB at all.
The YB has failed me so much I never regretted so much buying any device as I have regretted buying the YB, when it needed to be put to the serious use. You would expect it to do a pro job when paying three times the cost of ATEM mini.
Please listen to me and don’t do the same mistake .

Wanted to ask 3 things: 1. Can png images be imported from computer to the Yolobox via USB or SD card to be used? 2. Can the settings e.g. PiP profile be saved for the next "creation" or it has to be reassigned on each "creation" since I wanted to use the same PiP setting each time? 3. How many PiP profiles can be set up in each creation e.g. can one PiP profile be HDMI 1 small and HDMI 2 as background, and vice versa for the second PiP be set up in the same "creation"? Aaron, I'm sure it's been asked, but does the Yolobox Pro have any audio/video sync challenges like the ones the ATEM Mini Pro corrected with delay comp in the audio section? I'm thinking about getting a YBP, and putting my MixPre ahead of the audio in to compensate for the limited audio control in the YBP itself.... but that begets the potential for A/V sync issues

Yes, the screen is nice, but having physical buttons (ATEM) is a _major_ advantage for operating _fast_ without looking at the device.
This is why I keep telling YoloLiv they need to open up support for third-party controllers so you could use it with a Stream Deck and have actual buttons! Physical buttons should not be underestimated!

For smaller cameras with cdmi it´s probably great, but with SDI it´s just not the right thing...
Is there any alternative for the YoloBox mini with the ability to stream directly to the streaming platforms? Looking at the Vidiu X but it only has the HDMI input, but for my use case, it seems the webcam input seems to be enough.
Regarding the video quality issues of the YoloBox Pro, would these flaws also affect the HDMI output quality in Monitor Mode?
The HDMI output still goes through the yolobox processor so it will be similar to the streamed output of the yolobox

No, there's no recording of the individual sources on the YoloBox, only recording the program feed.

Hi Aaron, I had a question - forgive me for just jumping onto one of your videos for the comment. - I'm trying to find the most efficient way to accomplish something and hopefully find a free or low cost solution and hope you can help. In using something like Super Source or even just to have multiple remote guests, (especially ones that may not be very tech savvy) what can i use to bring in each guest on their own input? Zoom is nice and all but, the boxes of who is where constantly shift, and can't always rely on the who's talking speaker view. I'd like to be able to select and control who's on my program feed (and also record each one on my ISOs. - If you have a video on this already, could you direct me to a link? your advice is much appreciated.

I may have summarized that a bit too quick. There are two parts. The monitor is an SDI monitor that has an image flip feature built in. The second part is an SDI matrix that lets me route various sources to the different monitors around the studio. Aaron, great video! I’m recording with Atem mini pro using all four hdmi inputs for my studio. But the sound is always giving me a static noise regardless of what mics I’m using. Even Rode 2 wireless is recording with a static noise. Any recommendations or solutions?
You need a balanced/unbalanced isolator. I ran into this for ages. Stagebug SB-6 is great

Question: do you know if the stems can interact with the Blackmagic video assist as it can with some Blackmagic cameras?
I think this is a great feature, allowing to automatically replace the recorded clip with higher definition files in post
I don't think the Video Assist has the same integration with the ATEMs as the Blackmagic Pocket cameras do. You can of course still record on them and swap out the clips manually, you just don't get the automatic recording and timecode syncing.

I was almost decided to buy ATEM mini Pro (din not know about Yolo, just some Roland switchers), but was put off on almost on purpose prohibited ability to do a splitted HDMI output. We wanted to provide second TV in a small studio, so that the performers might see what's in the pipeline, tried several HDMI splitters, none of the worked. Does Yolo (Pro) allow to split the signal? Or does any solution supports kind of a Tally?
There's definitely some HDMI splitters that work with the ATEM Mini, but it might take a bit to find them. They are such commodity devices now that there's tons of cheap ones available which sometimes have trouble. Try using a slightly more expensive one than you've been testing so far. Personally I run my ATEM Mini outputs into HDMI-SDI converters which then are able to be routed to any number of screens around my studio. The HDMI-SDI converter might be a good option for you since it has an HDMI out for your local display and you could use a longer SDI cable to run to the secondary TV. The same is true with the YoloBox, I've had some HDMI splitters fail to work with it and others work fine.

There’s a whole category of device, and of user, that seems entirely missed. Micro PCs, and people needing mobile broadcasting.
GPD Pocket 3 looks to me a much better tool to buy (noting you’d need an extra dongle for 2nd and 3rd camera in). Cheaper than YoloBox Pro, plus it's a full fledged powerful computer (especially plugged in) and you can turn down TDP (even at low as 6watt ) for serious battery time. My planned use is fully mobile full quality live broadcasting.
I’m really curious though if others can see any likely issues.
I understand not going to do 16Mb or even 10Mb stream via tethered phone, but still will be miles ahead of stream bandwidth that mobile providers allow you when using a phone app to directly stream. ‘Real gigs’ I’m recording at varied venues, sometime a fair walk from parking so I really load up to carry the full kit in one go, I am buying a device now to add streaming now and a microPC seems like the ultimate have+eat my cake, as it’s not adding a lot of weight to my indoor kit, and I should be able to rig it with a pro camcorder to have full control of a livestream while walking and shooting. But as I'm just imaging how this will work, looking for any input.
I really don't expect you'll get good results with that setup. The cheaper GPD Pocket 3 does not have a very powerful processor. The i7 processor is on the more expensive $1000 GPD Pocket 3, and that's the minimum I would expect to work well. I also suspect the USB bandwidth internally is going to be pretty limiting, one capture card will probably be fine, but I doubt you'd be able to use 2 or 3 well at all. By all means give it a try, but I suspect you won't be happy with the result. Please report back if it does end up working well though, because that GPD Pocket 3 is super cute!

I’m quite surprised processor power would be a concern.
My i7-5700HQ (2015 cpu, 47w typical) is total overkill. I did a 1 hour 20 minute concert for someone as a test, 1080p60 at 16000 Mbps (ethernet, to a fibre line the whole complex shares, somehow it’s allowed by ISP). On AC. The system resources consumed was quite minimal.
I tried from my i5-5200u (2014, 15w typical, only 2 cores) on battery and after 1 hour it was down to 78% remaining. I added a second capture dongle (PPT from another laptop) and streamed that with the live video overlaid. Didn’t really see any impact.
The Pocket 3’s i7-1195G7 is just shy of 5 times the score of the 5200U. (noting cpubenchmark.net isn’t a benchmark of this use case, more of a general guide)
That’s certainly the only one I think anyone would consider, and it’s still cheaper than the YoloBox. Especially in canada.
That’s at a higher typical TDP, but I can always have a battery bank in a backpack kept connection, or just set it to lower TDP and still be more powerful. Right? Or is there another way to look at that?
Even considering software in YoloBox is optimized, as the QualComm 660 is a general purpose chip and you can look up the max TFLOPS, it’s looks to be in a vastly lower tier of computational power.
@@aaronpk Are you familiar with how the Pocket 3 has an HDMI input option? Or have used dongles? I’ve just never heard of anyone talking about USB bandwidth as an concern. EposVox is the main resource that got me to see them as viable. You can get 1080p30 via USB 2. I watched his vid but still didn’t trust the dongles, because they are so insanely cheap, so I’ve bought a bunch that look like maybe different models to increase odds. All work, are USB2 expect one is USB3 so it does 1080p60. One issue is the one that isn't all metal but has a cable, and cuts in and out when you bend the cable -which you should expect @ $20.)
My understanding is it’s using only a tiny fraction of USB3 bandwidth but if you have any sort of resources you could link about this, I am keen to read up.
I’m sure there are practical challenges I’m just not picturing.
The key thing is this all indoors, via Ethernet. Going outdoors feels like a big jump and wish someone else would leap before me : ) or at least imagine going through the motions in their mind and come up with potential issues.
Outdoors will only be one camera, so no dongles. What I'm really hoping for is to hear what you see as the difference compared to any other options, like the YoloBox Pro. Is build-in sim the sole advantage of it (in the case of only 1 source)? Meaning giving up all the flexibility of OBS? It's a hard sell, costing more too. If there was evidence it would yield higher real world bandwidth than tethering my phone, that would for sure change things.
@@dgSolidarity Yeah sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm sure the i7 in the Pocket 3 is good enough, but I really doubt the cheaper model with the low power CPU will be sufficient. So for the price comparison, you're starting out with two devices that are not that far off in price anyway. As a *separate* issue, there's a lot more than CPU power that will make a difference in the capabilities of a device, such as the internal USB bus. It's those kinds of things that tend to be where the manufacturers cut corners to save cost and size. For example the Raspberry Pi has some serious limits such as not being able to use the full ethernet speed if you are also using a webcam (or something to that effect, I can't remember exactly, but there are a lot of forum threads about similar things.)
At the end of the day, I'm just not comfortable trying to push the limits of these kinds of low power general purpose devices. At least with the Yolobox, while it's a generic-purpose CPU inside, they have written super customized software on top to best take advantage of that CPU.
And on top of all of that, there are just a bunch of reasons I don't like using OBS or similar software switchers for most things, and the idea of running that on a low power machine is just terrifying.
But like I said, if if works for you then that's great!

It’s a non requiter to relate a Raspberry Pi to an 11th Gen Core i7 Rocket Lake based computer. And I have first hand experience showing a 5200u (7-year old 15 watt CPU) is way more powerful than necessary for 2 sources.
Pocket3 is designed around full Windows 11 compliance, TPM 2.0. I too though it way to good to be true when I first heard of GPD. There’s years of Linus of LTT fawning over their products if that helps. If you can’t believe it is a powerful full-fledged PC, with Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, DDR4x etc. then I suggest you dig more into it to see for yourself.
Side note, A qualcomm is not a generic purpose CPU, in comparison to a “real” computer, as-in X86.
If you want a locked in interface, I absolutely wouldn’t argue with that. I’ve no doubt it’s the right tool for many people. Considering how vastly cheaper the internals are, and how locked in you are it feel much worse even than the Apple tax, based on the price. It is was half I would buy it today, but if a full flexible PC is less, and it’s more powerful than a majority of desktops people use today for live broadcasting (just a statistical guess, based on lower tower turnover the last 10 years) that’s an extremely hard sell. I understand there’s a caveat with using cpubenchmark results, but it’s still useful as a direct comparison between chips I think.
Why not look at the score of your main rig, and of your most powerful laptop, and compare that to the 1195G7?
You’re clearly saying those doing the bench-marking are wrong, and by a very large margin. Did you mean to say that?
I honestly have zero interest in “arguing” tech. I am only reiterating well referenced sources I have read, in response to honestly baffling claims you have made. I have to question how honestly you are disagreeing, are you making things up about it being “low power” or did you look at all at the device I’m referring to before making recommendations? It’s quite rude to accuse I realize, but I am simply baffled.
What I lack is practical streaming experience. So wondering about all the practical issues that may not be obvious.
It’s a lot of money I’m looking at putting in either way, also getting a light pro camcorder, maybe a used XF100. I not keen on using saving until I understand all the options well.
Question: If I need to restart the Atem Mini Pro during a streaming, do I loose the streamkey or CZcams link?
If you first click "Save Startup State" in the software control then all the settings including the stream key will be saved if you restart the device!

Any updates on the Yolobox Pro capability to be seen as a webcam on Zoom (or other similar platforms) using one of the two USB-C Connectors? This is one feature that's holding me from getting a YoloBox Pro and sticking with my Atem.
Last I've heard it is still coming very soon! I don't know what that means in terms of an actual release date though!

This shouldn't have happened as I ask our team to be responsive in 24 hours, normally less than 1 hour in working time. The USB webcam out has been under development for over a month and was about to release and yet find new bugs after testing so we delayed the release. But should not be long.

Why can't we see superchats in the comments on the yolobox pro?
I noticed that too! Superchats show up differently in the CZcams API, every time I've written code that deals with the CZcams api I get frustrated at how hard it is to handle all the special cases!

I noticed that superchats were not displayed last weekend when I used the yolobox in my backyard while streaming. It's frustrating not being able to interact with your audience who donates from this device. The workaround is to have the livestream up on my cellphone. I hope this is fixed in a software update soon.
