Carol Vorderman did Rachel Riley’s job on Countdown before Rachel took over. She was on from it’s first episode. Countdown was the first programme that launched Channel 4 in 1982.
Yes, CV did that from 1982-2008 & RR has done so since 2009.
Can't wait for the 90's one when a certain character causes absolute chaos
great episode
Me too I had a stitch from laughing ❤
Ah yes.... The fat, jaundiced baby 😉
I bet they've never heard of him. Hope they watch the song at some point 😂
I'm Tickled Pink
No way are you having a point for aerosols 😆
Nevermind the answer, the bloody question was aerosols 😂
Completely agree, an outrage if they let this point stand. I'll contact the head of CZcams!
@@Lones555🤣🤣👍
@@Lones555 I already have 😆
Spencer's bar for correct answers is getting lower and lower.
"That's close enough, we also said words."
"Who the fuck are they?" is the question the residents of the UK have been asking about the Krankies for 40+ years
Great reaction 😊 How to tell you guys are American, you spend 5 minutes seriously discussing the relative merits of Sodas lol🤣
Carol was the OG 'numbers girl' on Countdown before she was replaced by Rachel Riley.
When you get to the one with Mel B, stick with it, she does warm up in the end. She does start off like a sulky child in the beginning but its still worth watching.
I love this one, the madder she gets, the funnier it is.
Made even more brilliant by Richard Ayoade constantly winding her up.
I always remember that year for Mickey instigating a certain round of rather lyrical replies ;)
… and the banana.
Guys !! You are killin´ it so far :-) Very impressed that you got the "Maradona" question
You should do a reaction to Thomas Midgley, The Most Harmful Inventor in History, CFCs and lead in petrol.
I'm with Alan Partridge on the Dr Pepper thing. Tastes like fizzy Benylin. You can get it this side of the pond but most still view it as American chemical laced . . . oddness
Try watching the 1984 "Threads".
And watch it right after watching 'The Day After' to show how much better we do things on a much smaller budget.
I saw it on its second screening in 1985 and couldn't watch 'Words and Pictures' afterwards.
Anytime I've watched Threads I need to watch something lighthearted afterwards as a palette cleanser.
@@GodlessScummer It is very good at instilling that sense of unease.
80's were fantastic, loved the big hair, shoulder pads and blue eyeliner, wonderful times. ❤
Neighbours was on in the UK because surprisingly, Channel 4 was funding it, only people worth talking about to come out of it are Jason Donovan and Kyle Minogue
"Was it Nintendo 64?", that made me feel really old! lol (NES was 80's, SNES was early 90's, N64 was late 90's)
Nothing greater than a cold Pepsi (full fat) with ice on a hot summer's day! (well, non-alcoholic drink any way)
Keep em coming, lads. I enjoy these.
Neighbours was huge in the uk in the 80s
You know, the man we call the current king of England used to love doing a bit of theatre during his uni days. Apparently it's something he would have liked to take further but couldn't because of his role as heir of the crown.
Any explanati9on of the Krankies is inadequate. They were children's entertainers with one acting as a farther and the other acting as his son. The one that was the son was actually a mini woman and they were married. They were good clean fun, but then it came out that they were mad swingers having a whole host of adult times, fights and all sorts.
When the wind blows is a haunting movie. Because it was genuinely funny to the very end, while being emotionally absolutely brutal. I don't know any movie that does that mix better. It's also technically a interesting mix of real and animation.
You can tell from their reaction, it's not one you ever forget. And David Bowie wrote a song for it.
Spencer says "full fat coke over diet because less chemicals" then immediately says "Mountain Dew above all" which contains chemicals actually banned in the EU.
my logic for ordering a diet coke is "this meal is 200 less calories less with a diet coke" which adds up if you drink more than 1 a week (which i don't because it's the actual solution to "chemicals" in my ultra-processed foods.
Carol Voderman was on the TV show Countdown for years.
She's probably best known in Britain these days for being a very outspoken critic of our current government.
Fun fact: 82% of German business still using fax machines; about a third on a regular or very regular basis ^^
34:25 NES (SNES didn't come out until the early 90s).
Oh and the prize car at the end was that electric Sinclair C5 that they spoke about earlier....👀💜
You guys give yourselves a point for the oddest things haha
"Well, yeah I said a word, and the answer was a word, that's worth half a point, no?"
Ironically, nowadays Hasselhoff is mostly famous in Germany as the guy who thinks he is famous in Germany.
Dungeons & Dragons came out in the 70's but it was in the 80's it started getting media attention (not all good)
for sure, even Tom Hanks did a whole movie warning the kids about the dangers of D&D
There were better TV shows in the UK in the 80s than some of those mentioned on here.
There was the great Spy drama sequel to "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (1979) called "Smiley's People" starring the late, great Alec Guinness! 👍
Both deserve a watch!
I think both the TV & Movie versions of Tinker have great endings, but I'd say the TV version has the edge!
This was a good one, love the 80s
Chernobyl happened in April 1986.
Totally agree on the Dr Pepper. Can get it everywhere in the UK, but not that popular.
You can make your own alcopop version of Dr Pepper by mixing Amaretto with Coke.
Jonathan Ross appears so much on these because it was his idea, is made by his production company (Hotsauce TV) and the producer for most of them is his wife Jane.
I think Carol knows what fingering is, I just think she wants to hear Jimmy try and describe it
On the subject of breakdancing - you should react to Cuba Gooding Jr on The Graham Norton Show doing the Windmill and Nutcracker watched by Snoop Dogg and Elle McPherson.
Love the channel
Damn it Spencer. I had to pause and go to the shop for a Dr Pepper after your speech.
I've still got a fax machine ...... haven't had a fax for about 7 or 8 years though
Your reactions are the highlight of my week
LOL "Dooks McCringleberry" I see someobne is a fan of Key & Peele 🙂
Red Kola by Currie's 🤯😋🏴
If you thought Irn Bru tasted different,
just wait until you taste this.
Agadoo went number 2 in the UK charts and hit the top 20 in alot of other countries.
I have never drank or purchased a bottle or can of mountain dew from any retailer or shop in my Life
The only time and place I have ever I have ever purchased And drank One is at KFC.
The first time I ever tried it was with the 11 herb's and Spices
And it's just been a weird food religion ive kept up with ❤ever since
And Neighbours and Home and Away were popular in the UK Simply because they depict nice bright sunny days and Crisp blue water on White sand, which to get to see is an Exciting snd wonderoius fascination to most Brits
N64 in the 80's? And Duck Hunt ruled out for being too old school (not for not fitting with the interviews)? 😅
How is _'To the left , to the right'?_ not two dance moves in Agadoo?
Hello boys. Knowing how much you like Guy Martin this is a must see video. " Can Guy Make it in an F1 Pit Crew? The FULL Documentary " This gives you a behind the scenes of F1 and how much normal people don't know about the sport. I hope you will watch it.
If you copy amd paste between the "" you will get the right video.
You need one of us older fellas in your team to get more of the answers!
Mountain Dew is actually banned from being sold in some countries in the EU
They changed the recipe in 2020 as it used to contain a banned ingredient "brominated vegetable oil" which is why mountain dew felt like you were drinking oil rather than a water based soda. It still has too much sugar in it to be sold as a soda in the UK so they rebranded it as an "energy drink". It's basically the same recipe as the US one but can't be marketed as a soda for health reasons. Obviously the FDA in America doesn't give a shit about whether a food is fit for human consumption which is why so much high fructose corn syrup is used over there.
Dr pepper isn't cola
You don't need to be hesitant about the Hand of God thing. I have in on authority from an Yank reactor living in Argentina that the Argentinians are proud that he broke the rules to get the win. (Not the reactor, she disapproves of them being smug about cheating)
you guys see Dr Pepper as a type of cola? Never saw it that way... seems more of a fruit mix than a cola flavour. Can't imagine having a bourbon & Dr Pepper, for example.
I'm not sure what the deal with is Vorderman + all the griefing she gets on 8/10 Cats, but on the plus side, as she's gotten older she looks more and more like Isabella Clarke 😮
I've personally thrown away 12x copies of Moby "Play", used to date a girl in music promotion, horrible album, you couldn't even give it away lol
The Krankies (irl husband and wife) were Scottish "stars" of kids tv. The wife played a naughty schoolboy in a sitcom-type setup, christ knows if it was any good, probably hilarious in hindsight knowing what they got up to in their personal lives - they were proper old-school swingers ;)
.. You know you are getting old when young people say.. "I remember faxes", and it sounds like it was intended as a flex.
Spare yourselves from The Krankees
I wouldn't worry about copyright. All of these are uploaded by channel 4 on their channel. Maybe use a proxy so it looks like you're in the UK. But there's lots of people who share these video on their channels without any problems...
Early CD tech was really shite and super expensive.. But, as with everything you could have paid $800 for a CD player when they were first released. Or just wait 18 months and by one for less than $100.
The only time you should be drinking any kind of fizzy drink/pop/soda is when you are mixing it with alcohol.
I thought that it was just common knowledge that ET was the biggest movie. It still is to this day if you ignore Titanic.
But in the making of Episode 1 George Lucas is so pissed off and he's complaining that Titanic is a better movie and how no one will beat it.
George, maybe if you were not making shite movies you might have had a chance.
Coke Zero is ok

Good try guys. Those were my teenage years
Neighbours was an Australian soap. Home And Away was another. They both had success in the UK. Lots of Brits have enjoyed them.
I'm not a big soap fan. I don't even watch those produced here. EastEnders is basically just very south England centric. And as a Scot, I find it completely unrelatable. Coronation Street was slightly better, but not much. I just don't care for them at all, tbh.
sheep bee bum time etc i reckon squeeky bum time.
Dooks is too hard on himself
I think the reason the later shows don't seem as good is because there hasn't been a lot of things happening in the last few years that lends itself to humor. They are doing the best they could with the material. But I did dislike the former Spice girl in 2014. I must not be the only one. I see someone posted an edited version with her bits deleted.
Your views keep going down
Please do Adam buxtons yt comments on 8 out of 10 cats
P.s Mountain Dew tastes even better in uk, yours has extra crap in it
Na don't be listening to idiots saying it goes downhill!🤦♂️😑they don't know what they're on about, jus watch and see for yourself, if you stop enjoying them,Then stop....🤔🤷♂️😂😂💜
I agree with you, I have watched most of them and rewatched them recently too. I haven't found one that sucks personally. The one with Mel B takes a bit to warm up as she was clearly in a mood, but it was all good in the end.
Some of the relatively recent ones are brilliant - they have to at least get to Richard’s famous meltdown
@@slytheringingerwitch Oh yeh Mel wasn't in the right mood for it,but that jus resulted in some brilliant work from Richard Ayoade...👀🤷♂️👏👏😂😂
Mo Farah sign! 💚
@@ZondaFRoadster Instantly read that in his voice....👏👏👏😂😂😂
Chernobyl was April 86,I was born in November 86 in the UK and I've seen people blame that for the fact I've got MS....🤔🤦♂️😂😂🧡
Carol Vorderman has had a bit of work done to her since the 80's plus she also laughs at everything annoyingly 😂
and she became absolutely bat shit insane lol
You won't understand just how big Neighbours was in the 80s, it was originally shown at 1pm and repeated at 11am the next morning but they ended up moving it to 5:30pm because so many workers were skipping off to watch it! I was lucky enough to be at school and lived close enough to be let home for lunch, and my dad was a teacher and did the same. We both got hooked on the show. Kylie Minogue owes her entire music career to some nameless exec at the BBC deciding to buy the show as a cheap daytime soap filler.
You know when Jimmy laugh’s before the punch line it’s going to be brutal 😂
Jason Manford is a second-rate comedian. I don’t know how he’s got to where he is.
Better than negative u
That's true for most of them.
Name a first-rate comedian.
Comedy is subjective, Michael McIntyre is the least funny comedian to ever exist in my opinion but he's one of the most popular on TV. Shows that different people find different things funny.
