After mastering movements inside a SAB working in front of a flowhood is a cakewalk. Always try and make sure your hands aren’t between the filter and what you’re working with.
Shake after PC to prevent clumping! Gotcha! I think I need to start doing that
Yes, definitely! One thing I've learned after this video is to lay jars sideways while they are cooling. They will cool faster and more evenly because of the surface area. Hope that helps!

Awesome video! The only thing I did different was soaked the grain before the boil, my jars look great following ur guidelines. Waiting for the cool down and injecting me tomorrow. Hopefully all goes well great video.

You should rinse the rice until water runs clear as it will help remove any dust and excess starch before boiling.
You don't have to rinse because if you don't you can use that water for your agar. Dr . Ed swears by it.
I suppose you could use it either way before or after rinsing now that I think of it
@@musicforchange1990 Yeah you could save it from each rinse. You just pour it from a bowl to a container if you want to save it. I just use LME/Corn Syrup/Soy Peptone because I mostly use popcorn now. Suppose you could save the popcorn rinse, just haven’t done it.
Guys i sterilized for 2hrs instead of 90mins. My rice is still plump yk but it’s a little darker than normal😢 yall think it’s overcooked? and will it still work?

I wouldn’t leave your life loose. You don’t have to worry about pressure inside the jars, there’s a patch there. Plus while the pressure cooker is cooling down and loosing pressure it’s pulling dirty air back in which in turn into your jars
Can you add gypsum to the boil to help prevent clumping? If so, how much?
I've never used gypsum, sorry.
i tried this and shook the jars right after pc and it seemed almost too hydrated, now a couple days later it seems dry, is that normal or should the rice be like sticky when you innoculate?(i prepped the rice 2 days ago and will be storing them a couple more days before i have my inoculant)
I try to shake up the jars as often as possible after I run them thru the PC. When cooling lay them sideways, that helps too.
Could you use a liquid culture?
Yeah, you can. It's just good practice to put LC onto agar to verify if the culture is clean to use. Hope that helps!

Why do you have injection ports on your jar lids?
Injection Ports are for syringes, the filter patch is for fresh air exchange! Hope that helps.

Thats what I was wondering. IF using cuts from agar why is it necessary to use modified lids. Maybe that's all he had at the time. IDK.
Because if you have modified lids, you can use them for both siyringe o agar, without the need of differentiate@@Murphy_.
Yeah I have both mod lids and un mod lids. I just prefer to use the modded lids. Un modded works well also.
