use a magnetic fishtank cleaner to whipe the condensation off the inside of the plexyglass without opening the lid during those key times
What is the reason for doing that??? In my growkit there is condensation too. Should i wipe it??? What are the positive or negative effects??
No, you don't want to wipe it either. That magnet isn't a good idea. It's not that serious.. the the tub work. If you need to take the lid off, lift it straight up and shake the extra water off. Don't use a magnet.. Hope that helps.

It's getting better evaporation around the edges that's why there's more pins and not in the middle
damn after LC injection i get fully growth by 7-9 days then after 2 weeks of breaking and regrowth so 14-21 days old i transfer to tub with then about 9 days later i have fully pinning and harvest about 4-6 days after pinning full growth! Good run tho! just like 2-3 times as long as it take me for way bigger tub and harvest too using same bags from north-spore make your own LC from Clone make sure it Super Strong LC!

Opening the lid during fruiting doesn’t really matter. Open the lid close it no problem. I send straight to fruiting. No real casing layer. Maybe next time try going straight no fruiting and maybe no casing. Just pseudo casing

My bags have taken a long time to inoculate. It’s been over 2 months, I think I messed up when I had the grain bags laying down. Would you suggest wait longer to put in a Monotub or should I just use has inoculated already. It’s my first time growing.
It's OK to start fresh if needed. Remember, this is a hobby, and everything is a learning process. If you have to start over, just take better steps next time. Good luck with your grow!

Growing mushrooms is so e asy once you sterilize properly throughout the grow. Growing weed costs much more for everything. $55 at walmart(before inflation) and no one will know you grow shrooms, as you aren't increasing your electric bill. Been told growing them off cow patties in the shaded area, usually a barn, they grow the best psilocybin but never tried. I guess it iis like growing weed outdoors vs indoors.
I have done it in a plastic tub with modifications, in a jar, will see about the boomr bag for the future.

Usually, the rule of thumb is 2cc per pound of grains. Example 3lb grain bag gets 6cc. Hope that helps!

Do you put it into fruiting right conditions right after you put on the true casing layer or do you wait for it to colonize then put it in fruiting conditions?
After the casing layer, it goes straight into fruiting conditions. Light mist on that casing layer mist the lid, set and forget should see some action in about 2 weeks! Hope that helps!

Lighting isn't a huge factor in mushroom growth. Basic closet LED bulb will work fine. You don't need a schedule. It's nice to have but not necessary. I hope that helps.

When is it a good idea to use a heating pad and how
Never! Never use a heating pad. I learned firsthand. If you need to use the pad to heat the room or tent, that's OK. Stay at the lowest temp. And NEVER place a monotub or any tub directly above a heating pad. In short. Save your money. Don't use a heating pad unless it's in your incubation box. Hope that helps!

How important is the "true casing" layer?
I'm still a newbie to the mushroom cultivation, but I have learned that they are not 100% necessary for all types of mushroom. I'm still testing to see which mushroom variety grow better with "true casing". But I do recommend adding them. Hope this helps!

The coco coir is PASTEURIZED, and yes I've had 1 grow have contamination. I made a CZcams short showing the contamination.

can i still use the spore print from a contaminated grow. the mushroom itself is isolated in one corner and I have a small patches of what I believe to be not mycellium, but it hasn't turn green, nor is it too grey to be cobweb.
I honestly do not know the answer to that question. But I'm a firm believer in "it never hurts to try" slap that print on some Agar to test it. You never know. Hope that helps!

Grains and vermiculite are used at two different parts of the grow. Yes, you can use wheat grain, and when it's fully colonized, you can then use vermiculite with your coco coir. Hope that helps!

So right now, I'm experimenting/ lazy, and sometimes I can't give the full 6 hours of light. I haven't noticed a difference in the actual yield, but the lights help guide them upward. I just plucked and clipped my first flush last night, and then this morning. Question, can you eat these without dehydrating them? Also, do you wash or rinse them before dehydrating?
Congratulations on your grow!! Yeah, you can definitely eat them fresh. And I don't rinse, but if you're using manure based substrate, I wouldn't eat them fresh. Hope that helps!

@@mcascio1976 Never rinse b4 dehydrating, they will never be trully dry if you do this, you can scrape off the substrate with a brush after they are dry, and they are good (dried) in the fridge basically for months if you store them properly

Yes, I mist. I mist the top casing layer lightly in the very beginning when sent to bulk. After we get some pins going, I will only mist my lid once it looks like all the condensation has dried up. That's all. Hope this helps!

If you buy the kit, it should come with a thin roll of black micropore tape. You can use kind of micropore surgical paper tape. Hope that helps!

you could have gone maybe 3 more days but harvesting smaller is better for potency after the veil breaks its mostly water weight i think, but if you are selling weight might be what you want. if they are personal maybe go for potency. regardless this was killer first grow . keep at it. ++A
I think you're right. Everything I read says that after the veil breaks the shroom can get larger, but it's actually only sucking up more water and not having any new shroom mass being added. Dehydrating a mushroom a few hours before the veil breaks will yield about the same mass as if it were to grow past veil break for a few days. Probably bad to leave mushrooms growing too long, because it'd end up sapping all the moisture from the sub without it producing more dry grams.
@@NicholasW943 I have heard people say that if the veil breaks and the spores land on the mycelium, that it will give a signal to the mycelium to stop making new fruits. Bad for the second flush to have spores on the mycelium.
