Chris Broussard is by far one the best NBA analyst i've ever seen ! He ALWAYS speaks facts and the truth. Never gets tempted to say outrageous things just to get headlines. It's a pleasure to hear him in a world (NBA) where almost everyone is hysterical and can't have reasanoble opinions.

Leon Riveiro Jordan being the goat is an opinion not fact. and LeBron had very dominant games with prime Gilbert arenas and we'll you can name anyone in this league he eventually had the last word on them so far. except spurs. and like how Jordan couldn't have the last word on pistons or Celtics. so imo neither of them are the goat.

Since we are talking Playoffs, I just want to show how the level of competition in the East was different.
Both have played 37 teams in the Playoffs (LeBron as of 2016... not counting 2017)
    LeBron Playoffs:
Has faced FOUR 30 win teams, SIXTEEN 40 win teams, TEN 50 win teams, and SEVEN 60+ win teams.
    Jordan Playoffs:
Has faced TWO 30 win teams, EIGHT 40 win teams, EIGHTEEN 50 win teams, and NINE 60+ win teams.
Jordan has almost played double the 50+ win teams LeBron has had to play.
LeBron has played 30-40 win teams up into the third round of Playoffs. WTF? Jordan has never had that luxury.
Jordan has only played ONE 40 win team in the second round of the Playoffs. LeBron SIX different times.
Nor has LeBron ever played a 50 win team in the first round of the Playoffs. Jordan has multiple times. Nor has LeBron ever faced a 60 win team in the first round of the Playoffs. Jordan has.
Jordan is 7-2 against 60 win teams in the Playoffs. LeBron is 4-3 against 60 win teams.

Artur Vasiljev just because the league was more physical back then, doesn't mean it was better, or that Jordan would have an easier time scoring. Basketball is not a sport of attrition like football or hockey. You think defenses have gotten worse because of the rule changes regrading hand checking etc? No, they've actually only gotten better, because now players can't rely on things like that to play defense they have to rely more on schemes and adjust than just physicality. Again, Jordan would not have gotten 6 rings in this era, it's a different game even from just 27 years ago.

Karl Malone has more points than Jordan too. It does NOT make him a better scorer than Jordan!
*LeBron has benefits & luxuries that Jordan never even remotely had! LeBron is simply racking up a bunch of over-inflated stats in the weakest worst, most pitiful, putrid, horrid, atrocious, dreadful, dismal, abysmal eastern conference in NBA history! LeBron also has the benefit & luxury of playing om the WORST shot blocking era in NBA history! LeBron also has the benefit & luxury of playing with the 'Defensive 3 second violation' that prohibits ANYONE from camping out in the lane, resulting in opening the lane like Moses Parted the Red Sea, LeBron also has the benefit & luxury of playing with 3-4 three point shooters on the court at all times creating more space and room to operate never seen before in NBA history that results in spreading the lane wide open like Moses parted the Red Sea as well! LeBron also does not have to endure the resistance of hand-checking, arm bars, checking in to the lane, pushing, pulling, holding & grabbing & constantly getting thrown to the floor on a consistent basis like Jordan did! These are all crucial factors to seriously consider when comparing their numbers. If you do not take this into consideration then you are being disingenuous, nonobjective, biased & dishonest!*
*Jordan played in the most BRUTAL conference, nevertheless eastern conference in NBA history, played against the greatest era of shot blocking in NBA history, played w/o the Defensive 3 second violation that actually allowed those shot blockers to camp out in the lane waiting on perimeter scorers, had to endure hand-checking, arm bars, checking in to the lane, pushing, pulling, holding & grabbing & constantly getting thrown to the floor on a consistent basis, AND never ever played with 3-4 three point shooters on the court at all times creating more space and room to operate that resulted in spreading the lane wide open like Moses parted the Red Sea.*
*Now use your heads kids. This is not rocket science. If Jordan had ALL of those benefits and luxuries as LeBron has had, then his numbers would be even FAR GREATER. Again this is NOT rocket science. We do not need an astrophysics master degree at Harvard, Yale or Princeton to know this. This is basic rationalism, basic logic, basic common sense AND basic laws of physics! Playing in a BRUTAL conference, with light years more resistance and in a far more congested crowded, compacted, confined, condensed, cramped lane resulting in far less room to operate makes everything harder. These are all extremely important factors to consider when comparing LeBron's over-inflated numbers.*

I like how Broussard doesn't even bother to mention Craig Ehlo, who was Jordan's actual matchup and not those other guys. Jordan faced off against severely weak matchups. LeBron has had to go up against the likes of Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Draymond Green, future Hall of Famers.

Love how you miss out the fact Jordan played across 3 different era's. He was guarded by players like:
      Drexler.
      Penny.
      Grant Hill.
      Latrell Sprewell.
      John Starks.
      Joe Dumars.

      Paul pierce.
      Jason Kidd.
      Ron Artest.
      Bruce Bowen.
      Tract McGrady.
      Gary Payton.
As it is, in the finals, Jordan was guarded by all time steals leaders and defensive specialists like Stockton and Payton, but I guess that's just ignored as it doesn't fit in with 'agendas' No to mention the fact there were big men clogging the paint, from players like Worthy , Kemp & Malone, to Divac, Ostertag, DUckworth etc etc unlike Lebron, who gets a free pass at the rim almost everytime as today's game is full of....how did you put? 'Midgets'?

Let's see Lebron needed to go to Miami and team up with two other all stars in the East to win. That wasn't enough for him though. The Celtics series was too close for comfort so he weakens the East even more by stealing another superstar in Ray Allen. Even with all this help he only goes 2-2. Then he goes to Cleveland after getting embarrassed by an old Spurs team and teams up with two more all star players. Lebron has only beaten one team that had more than 58 wins in the regular season and only one team that even had the best record in the Western Conference. He beat a second place 47 win young Thunder team, a second place 58 win Spurs team, and the Warriors that were plagued by injury and suspension. Jordan on the other hand stayed with his team through the losing years to the great Celtics and Pistons. And unlike what Lebron fans like to argue, the Pistons were not old when he beat them. Isiah and Rodman were 29 and Joe was 27. If they were old the Spurs Lebron beat and lost to were ancient. Jordan also beat five teams that had the best record in the west and four teams that had 62 or more wins. Pippen was the only other player who even made an all star team during their run in the Finals. Grant never made one and only made all NBA once. Armstrong, Paxson, Harper, Longley, Kerr and an old Cartwright never accomplished anything. Kerr was an accurate shooter but unlike Ray Allen he only took 2 or 3 shots a night. Kucoc was sixth man of the year once but accomplished nothing else. Rodman was a great defender, but never made an all star team with the Bulls and Jordan had already proved he could win without him. So compare Jordan's help with Lebron. It's a joke. And Lebron is still only 3-4 with all that help. Jordan also made the all NBA defensive team 9 times and defensive player of the year, two accomplishments Lebron will never match. He hasn't made a defensive team in four years. So I guess it's easy to do great on offense when you're not doing anything defensively. As for Lebron's assists. Assists are made a lot easier today when you're surrounded by three point shooters. The only area where Jordan can't beat Lebron is probably rebounds because of Lebron's size. Rebounds also weren't really Jordan's job on the floor but still Lebron does have that. The only reason Lebron will break many of Jordan's records is because of longevity. Longevity doesn't make you the greatest. Otherwise there would be a lot of other players in the discussion. I'll just never understand how somebody could even try to say Lebron is better with all the evidence against it. Being second best to Jordan is enough of an accomplishment. At least 99% of the people who matter realize it like the players and former players.

First of all that old Spurs team was one of the most efficient teams to ever play which included an top 10 player of all time and arguably the best coach of all time. Wade only averaged about 15 ppg which is definitely not all star material. Also Ray Allen definitely wasn't a superstar, Avery Bradley was starting over him. Jordan had two hall of fame players on his team and played worse teams in the finals. How doesn't longevity make you great? Lebron has been dominating the league since 18. In 2 of Lebrons finals losses he had no chance of winning in 2007 against the Spurs and when Kyrie and Love went down against the Warriors. Lebron did choke against the Mavs but you can't determine someone's career off of one series. I could go on and on. Jordan is the goat for now but Lebron isn't too far behind.

Just like Kobe. There will not be another Jordan period. Just leave it alone and enjoy Lebron. Because soon there will be a gal in the game when Lebron leaves. With Kobe then Lebron the NBA has been the 49'ers with Montana and young. It may be 10 years to find another one of these. They don't make a lot of them Lebron/Kobe/Jordan's.

Lebron should be the best 3pt shooter int he playoffs... because teams goad him into shooting 3s, litterally the eastern conference strategy is "let Lebron beat us from the outside, only defend if he comes in the lane, then foul" if you watch Lebron in these games hes trying to draw a defender out to the perimeter just so he feels more comfortable taking a "some-what contested 3" vs just bricking a 3 with no one around him.
Litterally every game Lebron is doing a stepback crossover for a fadeaway 3 and the whole time your thinking.... aint no body contesting your shot just take it.

Zone is not allowed back then because of hand checking yet it was still widely used. The reason that they ban hand checking is to allow zone to be use. Hand checking can't co exist with zone defence because it will make the game more hard to play, because the NBA can't foul out all the players that used illegal zone so they made an adjustment the NBA remove hand checking and allow zone defence. So I can officially say that defense back in the hand checking era is much more effective than defense in the current era.

Why do y'all say that MJ would average 45 in today's game just because the hand check rule isn't around anymore? Today's defenses are MUCH better than they were in the 90s because now defenders must learn to rely on their quickness and foot speed to cut players off, which means that today's defenders are much more athletic, there's a much higher focus on defensive schemes, in fact, I've watched almost every finals game since the mid 80s, last year's finals and probably Spurs vs Heat in 2013 are some of the best defensive series I've ever seen (behind the Pistons against Jordan). Also, zone defenses were not allowed back then. It was considered illegal defense, MJ never had to face it, and considering how the Mavericks were able to slow down 6'8, 270 lb Lebron using their zone defense, I think it's safe to say Jordan would've had his fair share of troubles had he played in this era.

Did you even see how Kobe schooled the current players before the Achilles? MJ is bigger, stronger, quicker, more athletic than Kobe would ever be.
In 80'-90s the paint area is crowded, almost clogged & it didnt bother him at all. He just went and dunked or laid it up on anyone. Plus, zone defense does not work on teams with 2-3 reliable outside shooters on the floor. It's why lebron surrounded himself with shooters since 2011..

    • @JattAnmoli
      @JattAnmoli Před 6 lety +1

erwin021777 MJ wasnt stronger or bigger. He was taller and he didnt have the muscle mass to him which made him a freak of nature when it comes to quickness and verticle but i agree. Mj would wreck today. Average games total points has gone way up because defense isnt a thing anymore. You cant breathe on a guy.

Eugene Williams that is true but you have to consider that Jordan was drafted to a team that had a winning season and had two all stars when they drafted him and lebron was drafted to a losing team with no all stars.

johnathan jones Lebron has beaten tougher more well rounded teams than Jordan has. Every team Lebron has faced in the finals has been tougher than any that Jordan has faced. Not to mention the east was even weaker in the 90s than it is now. The east isn't even that weak any more, the east had more out of conference wins this year than the west did

He retired when he knew he would lose. He had a team that was way better than everyone else never had to play a team that had a better record in finals. He had a perfect record. Yeah when he actually made the finals. Had to build a superteam just to get out of the first round. Never overcame the adversity of beating the Celtics in their hay day or the Pistons. He had Stern change the rules just so he could beat a Pistons team that became old. MJ=Fraud

When you played in the 80s you were playing ruff-ruff basketball. For example some of the things that the Detroit Pistons did in the 80s would give somebody a month suspension in today's game. So keep in mind Michael Jordan was doing all these things in that type of play.

LeBron is a VERY good player but what MJ did was something else!
He even took 2 years off (baseball) then came back and win 3 more consecutive championships!

Randy Socia and Michael Jordan also never faced a team with more then 2 HoF. He actually only ever played 1 team with 2HoF and that was the Utah Jazz. Michael Jordan has faced 9 HoF in his 6 finals appearances, you can google this if you don't believe me. And Lebron James has faced 27 HoF in his 8 finals appearances. That should tell you what type of competition they have and to face in the NBA finals. Also every single team Lebron has faced in the NBA finals has a higher team
PER then any NBA finals opponent that Michael Jordan played against. Again please research this yourself if you don't believe me. When Lebron has to face a team with 4 HoF all in their prime, it's unfair to hold that loss against him. The same way Michael Jordan fans don't hold the loss to the Boston Celtics against him. It's unfair.

Why should we give credit to Lebron for making 3s? If you want to be considered the best in the world you must have almost no weaknesses. Plus the league changed and centers now are outside the paint so he can easily just pres R1/R2 and lay up or dunk. He doesnt need almost any skill, just musccles in

so for the first 2 series of 2017 Lerbon:
    34.4 pts -9.1reb-7.1 ast -2.1stls- 1.5 blks- FG 55.7% / in 42.4 mpg with a 32.3 USG rate
and in my opinion the real value stat that no one ever considers, Game Score of 29.1
Jordan 1989 in the first 2 rounds
    37.5pts - 7.8reb- 8.3ast- 2.7stls-0.9blks- FG 53.4%/ 41.7mpg
    Game Score: 31.4
    Jordan 1990 first 2 rounds
    40.2pts- 7.2 reb- 7.2ast- 3.3stls- 1.1blks- FG: 54.4% / 42min
    Game score 32.2
so yeah i can take into account the first 2 rounds and only mention FG% by 2%
    but it's a long way away from averaging 40-7-7 & 3+stls
