Niccolo Machiavelli MJ made iso ball a major thing and that has continued through to today, other players did it previously but he was the guy that cemented it into basketball culture
The “who’s team is this” rhetoric that exists pretty much comes from MJ being so dominant
Teams where much more unselfish with structured play and defined positions before MJ, MJ was the main ball handler and scorer to such a degree that it changed basketball and the way a lot of players since have played...

But the game changed when Dr. J showed up. The game changed when jordan took over. The game changed when lebron took over. When these three players walk in, they're bigger than basketball. Jordan literally had A WHOLE GENERATION change how they celebrated .....and how they dressed and acted. Lebron changed how players move in the league. Stuff is not the same since Lebon went to Miami. Players look at free agency TOTALLY different. Superstars are signing 2 plus 1s with options to leave after year 2. Even steph changed how the whole league looks at 3pt shots. Soji SideQuest go learn the meaning of “transformational or transformative and apply it in the context Jim Jackson said it and you’ll end up agreeing with him. Magic, 6’9 point guard transformed the game with showtime basketball. MJ transformed the game with a combination of the most elite skills plus the most elite athleticism in one human body. Steph Curry transformed the game with 3 point shooting range, spreading the court and increasing the value of the threat of 3pt shot. Larry Bird, one of the greatest of all times and one of the best shooters ever was great, don’t get it wrong, but the game didn’t transform or change because he did anything new nor did players/team start trying to play his style or like him. Same thing with Kobe, Shaq, Duncan, D Wade etc, all dominant players and some of the greatest players but they didn’t transform the game. Now to personality, MJ has a transformational personality. Jim Jackson is right when he says there’s a different energy when MJ would walk into a room because we’ve heard other players, even great players, all stars, say the same thing. Some described it as an aura of reverence and sudden silence when they saw MJ walk in. Magic was different, he transformed a room with his laughter and infectious smile, brought everyone along and made it a happy place. Larry did his thing too but not transformational in that sense.

Magic and Larry transformed the NBA together... If any of you understood what was going on with the NBA prior to their arrival you wouldn't be having this conversation. In fact other than Wilt literally transforming the NBA in terms of rule changes, a person with common sense would argue no other person(s) made more of a changed to a sport than both Larry and Magic. Playoff games were taped and replayed, teams were losing lots of money, players only cared about money. There was huge disconnect between the fans and the players. Both Larry and Magic only cared about winning. That's how they changed the game. Magic isn't Magic unless there is a Larry there to push him...just ask Magic!

Marquis Caston I mean magic play with 3 other number one overall pick and probably the greatest center ever. And don’t forget that the western conference was not that good in the 80’s bro so that was more easy for him to go in the finals and win because he have not to play all time team like the 76 sixers of dr.j and Moses, The bad boys pistons, bulls team on the rise with MJ, Cleveland with price and daughtery or the hawks of Dominique so that was more easy to win in the finals because they didn’t have to play against this kind of team before. But I still think that magic is greater than bird because like you say he has 5 rings. What I trying to say in my last post was that prime bird was better than prime Magic but of course that’s arguable.

iman Last magic won more rings b/c the West was trash. His best competition was against the twin towers & that was a one time thing fr fr

Nothing against Magic but c'mon the west in the 80's was pure trash and he had a way better team than Bird. Danny Ainge or Bill Walton anyone?

Jim Jackson was on some of the worst Mav teams to ever exist .. this is a clear cut white vs black. Black players hate and are jealous of Larry bird .

Boston year before Larry Bird drafted - 29 wins
Boston after Larry Bird's rookie year - 61 wins
Argument that Larry Legend wasn't a transformational player - ethered

They hating cause the legendary bird is white 🤦🏻‍♂️. Come on now! Simple as that. If it wasn’t for that man and Magic the league wouldn’t have been saved.

Larry was one of the true greats - up there with MJ and Magic. Probably the most “crafty” and possessing more court vision than anyone, ever. If he wasn’t limited by his athleticism, he would be the GOAT, no question - but that has to go to MJ by a “smidge”, because he was just so superior as an athlete.
When Bird was in his prime, and was on the court, people were thinking two things, “what’s Larry doing?” , and “what is Larry going to do?”
Jim Jackson is out to lunch - truly. Bird and Magic MADE THE NBA mainstream.
