  • Thank you all for the continued support. In this video we take a look at the Rolex Submariner Ref#116610LN and the Seiko SPB143. I give you my thoughts in regards to the Rolex costing $13,000 more than the Seiko and if it's worth it.

    Okay I definitely can see the appeal, it looks great in your wrist bro, but yes, the games with ADs and overhyped prices with the gray market are a major turn off. The SPB oozes tool watch vibe, the Rolex oozes brand recognition and flex 😅

    Last summer I walked into a store with my SPB143 and they had a new preowned 2021 Sub AND a BB58. To me, the Sub was the best looking and best feeling, but it was $13,500. The BB58 was $3,500 and I liked the BB58’s bracelet and bezel better than the Sub. The SPB143 is very good at what it is, but I don’t think it punches above its weight. And while the Sub is better in many ways than the BB58, it’s definitely not $10,000 better. If I have $13,500 to spend on dive watches, I’m taking a SPB143 ($1,100), a BB58 ($3,700) a BB GMT, ($4,100) and a Pelagos ($4,600). But if I can get a Sub at retail, then one watch is all I need, lol

    Miguel, I am torn between the bb58 gilt and this spb143. I don't care about the price difference I just want to choose the one that fits and wears the most comfortably (I have a slightly larger than 6.75" wrist but just below 7"). I notice you have a very similar wrist size. In terms of wear, which did you prefer?

    • @SoCalWatchReviews
      @SoCalWatchReviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Man this is a hard choice. Honestly the BB58 is going to wear more comfy, but there’s something special about the SPB, I can’t put my finger on it. I’ll say this, if you need a rugged watch go for the SPB as the case doesn’t scratch as easily as the BB58. However if you care about Precision time keeping, better finishing and ultimately (I hate to say this) Invest ability, go for the Tudor.
      If you have to the opportunity to see both in the metal before pulling the trigger, I highly recommend it. Best of luck and let me know the outcome!

    Like yourself the sub was my grail . I was lucky enough to get the 126610ln at retail. I own tudor and love them , but for me it's the sub a day long

    True that. I can buy ten submariners in one shot and think nothing of it but the AD games, Rolex artificial shortages have pissed me off. If the shortages were real they would have the same issues with Tudor. But in fact too many Tudors are made and are selling at deep discounts. Does not make sense? Buy the way my first Rolex was not as good as your Seiko and it cost me 800 dollars in 1987.

    The subby is manufactured to perfection, however to me it lost its tool watch appeal. Too big and too blingy for me. It became more of a flashy status symbol compared to it’s predecessor.

    The Seiko - while being a very nice watch at a reasonable price point - is lightyears away from a Rolex Sub when it comes to fit, finish and movement. It's not even in the same ballpark. Not the same continent.

    Nice video, but this is the typical argument given by those who can't afford a Rolex. Most people who have the funds to buy a Rolex do so and are very happy and satisfied with their acquisition. I'm pretty sure those who share your sentiment would buy their Rolex watches if they had the extra discretionary income and money was not an issue. They are excellent time pieces and are worth every penny the market price commands, whether it be low or high. There's a reason they hold their value and are highly sought after and it's not majority hype.

    The 143 is terribly inaccurate. I owned two of them; the second one was even professionally serviced to no avail. The 143 is the best looking pos that I have ever seen:)

      I’ve heard they don’t keep great time. Since I rotate my watches so often I always have to set them so I’ve never noticed. Thank you for watching!

    this watch can destroy subs / hold its current trading value, embarassing. but Daytona & Gmt still strong

    U cant compare a Rolex to a Seiko, BUT when theres $15k+ difference in price involved then You can make an argument that the Rolex does not define the additional $15k+! Rolex is a jewelry hardly worn. while Seiko is a Great daily watch with a realistic price tag!

      With a wrist just under 7.5”, I’m good with the diameter and LTL, but wish it wasn’t almost 14mm thick. It’s really my only complaint, outside of the mediocre timekeeping.

    Seiko all the way. Rolex ruining their own brand by literally not allowing people to buy their watches. I go with a seiko and grand seiko.

    Love this comparison and honestly I think it’s the first one I’ve seen! I own the spb143 and your review is one of the main reasons I got one - soo happy with it so thank you 🙏- I love the sub too but not the crazy “dance” involved to get one at retail! One day maybe but in the meantime the spb is going nowhere!!👍
