    I fell in love with the SPB143 after trying it on & vowed to get one. Just about that time, Long Island Watch came out with their 62MAS-inspired Northport Islander line. Well, I got the ISL-154 black/grey combo & I am absolutely in love with it. Hits all of the 62MAS notes I wanted & is superior in every way, except lacking the sunburst grey dial (and SEIKO logo). Nevertheless, maybe someday I will return to get the real deal

    Hello,
    I have the Seiko SPB 143 and it is a beautiful watch
    I have had many Seiko but this in the end what I was looking for in terms of design size is a watch that suits me perfectly.
    And it also has perfect proportions which in Seiko was something that was missing.
    I also like the bracelet a lot, it has a muscular look
    I would improve the Seiko diving extension, which I think is the weak point for the comfort.
    it also has a vintage look and a very good quality of execution. Very happy with this watch.
    Regards from Spain

I swiped it immediately, and I haven't been able to take it off since. I usually wear it with a NATO strap, but don't hesitate to put on the bracelet whenever I am dressing up. (6:40) “…I’m just that careful with my watches.” I’d like to point out that retaining the caseback sticker does the exact opposite. It states on the very first page of the instruction manual: “If your watch has a protective film for preventing scratches, make sure to peel it off before using the watch. If the watch is used with the film on it, dirt, sweat, dust, or moisture may be attached to the film and may cause rust.”

    Agreed about the pricing point. People complain that this is too expensive. I argue that Seiko's older watches were too cheap! They need to raise prices to achieve the same luxury status as Swiss manufacturers. Leave the $200-$300 to Citizen and the likes.

    Very nice watch. My first Swiss watch is the Omega sea master bought 20 yrs ago at $1500. Same specs as this Seiko except that my watch keeps + 3sec a day. My watch new is about 4K. Considering this the Seiko is a good value. Do you think a watch smith can increase its accuracy?

    • @SoCalWatchReviews
      @SoCalWatchReviews  Před 3 lety +1

      Perhaps, but I personally don’t wear my watches to tell time that’s what I have my cell for. For me is about the looks and also about how it feels on the wrist! Congrats on that Omega is a hell of a watch.

    this is the NICEST looking seiko I'm my opinion. it's a little expensive. but, It is very mariner like. The position of the crown, The 12 o clock, the hands. it's very prestigious. i will never go buy a budget watch. I would rather a real seiko, than a fake rolex or a invictus/etc. I planom buying a 3 watch collection and thus will be my first diver. I heard negative things about the bracelet. bit it doesn't matter. I really like the specs. the fact that it has a saphire crystal, uh. I love it! I think it has a screw down crown, but I'm not worried if it doesn't.

    I enjoy your videos very much but your initial comment about the submariner confused me a bit. It’s your grail but it’s got nothing to do with the branding? If that’s the case then you needn’t spend x amount on a Rolex submariner when you can buy almost identical homages. I would love to own a 1016 explorer but not just because of the aesthetics (otherwise there are enough homages out there) but it’s equally important to me that it has so much history to it.

    • @SoCalWatchReviews
      @SoCalWatchReviews  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching. Branding clearly plays a factor, but it’s not the reason I like the watch. Also I love the watch because of the quality built and just overall the Watch is great IMHO. Therefore an homage watch would not do it for me. It’s hard to explain, but at the end of the day I hope to own that watch at some point!
