- Update:
I made this video before Seiko announced the revised SPB453, which addresses some of my complaints. Looks like Seiko is listening.
Dive into the Seiko SPB143 - Seiko's best dive watch for its impeccable proportions. 🌊⌚
In this video, we explore the craftsmanship that sets it apart, positioning it as a compelling option for watch enthusiasts and divers. 🏆💼
The undeniable value for money makes it a fantastic option compared to other brands including the Rolex Submariner.
However, the SPB143 isnt sithout its faults. The movement is where improvements could be made.
This remarkable timepiece that balances style, functionality, and affordability. 🔍🎥 #SeikoSPB143 #DiveWatch #WatchReview
I have this watch and it's a keeper. Usually I'm not a big fan of aftermarket bracelets, but I picked up the Uncle Seiko/Straps jubilee mainly just to mix it up and it's pretty good if you like that kind of look. The clasp is way smaller too, but not so light that it completely throws off the balance of the watch.
Good choice!
Great review. I have this watch and I think the look of the watch outstrips it’s price point. The diashield coating makes it very scratch resistant as well.
Thank you! Agreed that it punches above its weight. If only they’d put a more accurate movement inside!
Love this watch I wear mine on a black rubber tropic , I think I will order a new clasp for the bracelet as you did as I do like the bracelet
Yeah, I like the clasp I got for it. But boy do I hate the one that comes stock. I’m pretty sure I made that clear 😄
Thanks for watching! I hope you stick around.
I hated the clasp and then seen somewhere online to reverse it so the dive extension on other side. Absolutely changed it for me and comfortable before I hated it the extension made uncomfortable on bend of wrist. I didn't want to get aftermarket clasp I like the look of original.
I always choose the JDM models and I’ve never suffered the QC issues that most speak of.
There're many of us who would pick this watch over a Tudor Black bay..anyday
I appreciate that it has 120 click bezel and a date function!
There is No special reason to pick tudor. Spb143 is enough. Even it comes with more satisfaction.
@@jmk3642 Enough for what? What does that even mean?! The BB Steel is far better in every way.
This is a great watch but any in house Black Bay is much higher quality in every way.
Can you please add a link tot he clasp? Thanks :)
Love mine sm and especially for it's accuracy, mine runs + 4 seconds a day, cant ask for anything else
That’s great
I disagree. Because of the movement, Citizen's titanium barnacle is the best. The 9xxx series movement inside the case destroys Seiko's 6r35.
Would you be interested in selling the original clasp? Im looking to get the new spb453 but thay one has the shorter clasp with only 2 holes of MA, which for me just isnt feasible. I alresdy have a clasp from strapcode with 4 MA but id like the origonal one :)
I have one ref # SPB143 and I noticed a difference between mine and the one your showing. Mine has a small applied lumed marker next to the date at 3 o' clock. Don't know if it's a variant from the manufacturing date or somethin else.
The newer models include it for ISO compliance.
Exactly. The older, original model did not have it. Some people covet the one without the lume pip since they say it’s more proportional. Seiko just released an updated version coming in June. Looks good.
@@horologyproject the redesign has the date at 4:30 like the new slim turtle. Looks almost like a no date. I'm looking forward to them.
I believe the original 64mas in the 60's were mfg by two competing divisions/factories within seiko and later one if the two became dedicated for international release and the other JDM.
Can you provide a link to the aftermarket strapcode buckle?
I scooped it up on Amazon. I can’t remember the exact store.
My OCD wouldn’t handle this well, an aftermarket bracelet wouldn’t match the darker Diashield coating on the watch. I also have the SBDC101, I actually like the bracelet quite well. Endlinks aren’t a perfect fit and I could do without the useless diver extension, but it’s the best stock Seiko bracelet I’ve ever seen (granted that’s not the highest bar). The darker color matching is WAY more important to me.
Hey, is it scratch resistant bazel?
It’s a steel bezel, but not scratch resistant.
I thought the bezel insert had the Diashield treatment as well??
@@user-ht1qp3ii8kis catchy terminology, still easy metal
Looking to get a bracelet for mine - is this the oem one?
OEM bracelet and switched out the clasp
How old is this video? You said fall season and you released this video 12 days ago. Wouldn't that be spring?
I had a whole bunch of videos just sitting unposted on my desktop. I recorded it fall 2023.
Is it anti magnetic?
I don’t think so… I’m sure it can stand up a bit. But I’m not sure!
Ehhmm....yess
With regulation, it run much better. Not difficult to do
Ive got the save the ocean 297with an amazing dial only payed 600 pounds in the sales lovely watch rubbish movement
Haha. Yeah, I am not too impressed with any 6r movement. It’s a shame. The classic ETA2824 is much better, imho.
@@horologyproject yeap got a modified one in the back of my Hamilton+2 a day .
The Seiko+25 but the Seiko looks nicer 😁you can't win haha
Steeldive SD1962 62MAS homage.
That‘s garbage.
@@panorama4526 San Martin SN007
I need something with better accuracy..
Go research how easy it is to regulate a watch
I’m with you. Range is too broad, even when regulated.
Pretty well impossible to regulate 6R movement. Falls out of whack again a few days later…..
@@simonwood5587mine has stayed plus 4 since regulation about 3 months ago.
@@simonwood5587 accuracy loss isn't limited to 6R movement, it's quite common with watches that give you more than standard 41 hours power reserve. Take Tissots popular PRX powermatic 80, a whopping 80 hr power reserve but with shitty accuracy. The worst part is the prx can't be regulated. You have to send it back to Tissot
Very funny🥳 Never been the best diver under 1k Steeldive 25000m beats it sorry:)
I’ll have to check that out.
Sounds nice, sorry by the way should not wrote very funny but anyway I think it is possible to get more watch for the money, The steeldive is low money for the performance even if this Seiko is nice:) Thanks for the video
Nothing against Steeldive (I own 2 SD1953) but the SD1982 25000M is a beast of a watch at 46mm x 22mm thick. I'd say check out the SD1962 62MAS which is more of a direct comparison to the SPB143 in this video at a fraction of the price ($130). You basically get all the same features, sapphire crystal, Seiko/TNI NH35 automatic movement, excellent lume, drilled lugs, etc. Whether the Steeldives are actually water resistant to their rating, who knows. SD1962 might be my next purchase. Awesome looking watch. I would argue the SD1953 (sub homage) and SD1972 (turtle homage) are the best bang for your buck no question (usually $55) unless you need a true ISO certified dive watch. Obviously Citizen Promaster divers come to mind for budget divers.
My best poor man's version of this watch are the 62mas homages' from San Martan & Seestern. The SD1962 is nice too, but I don't like two-tone lume, as it makes the watch look fake
@@mtbbiker6401 great tips thanks
