Go here for a full review of another 63mas. Its same watch just different color: czcams.com/video/sciWa37cUDA/video.html -FALLING

@@jimmason8502 I own both the SPB143 and SPB147. The silicone strap on the 147 is surprisingly satisfying and is equally as nice as the 143. It comes down to which dial you like the best....If you're a bracelet guy, no doubt get the 143, it's arguably the best of the bunch. The advantage of having both is that I can interchange the bracelet and the strap. Cheers!

what I like about the 63MAS and 62MAS is that they have an independent lineage to the BB58 but do resemble it. Honestly, as much as I love watches, I can't wrap my head around spending multiple thousands for a watch and Tudor is supposed to be "low end" luxury. For all the imperfections of the Seiko and QC issues other enthusiasts point out, the look and price point are more than enough for me....for now. Maybe if I become rich in the future this comment will be irrelevant but as a solidly middle class person with family, if I have thousands of dollars disposable, it has to go to wife and kids, not to a watch.

  • @khronokraze
    @khronokraze Před 3 lety +2

I have this very watch. I was originally going for the grey dial version with bracelet. It is nice, also. But, it feels safe and at the time seemed like everyone was going for that one. Besides, I love the brown gilt and the dark grey bezel combo so that's the way I went. The overall vintage looks, the brown could be said to mimic a black dial that's gone tropic towards the brown tone.
However, mine did pretty badly out of the box, unfortunately. -30 secs per day?! Extremely disappointed to say the least. I gave it a good run for well over 2 weeks and no change. In the end I had to open her up and fix the regulation myself. It's now hovering pretty well around +3 to +5 secs per day. Much better than what it started out with and I prefer to err and deviate towards the + rather than the -.
I would really like to get a bracelet option for it. But, it probably has to be the seiko OEM one. Why? Because the case finish with the diashield I believe slightly darkens (and warms slightly) the stainless steel. As such, any aftermarket option will be just noticeably brighter and will not be a perfect match. The OEM bracelet should also have the diashield applied to it as well so it should be same slightly darkened look as the case. What I am not looking forward to is paying the price of the oem bracelet. It's like near $300.. at least on Gnomon it is ($290). Idk.. it works on a mesh bracelet pretty well. But, I do like me a matching link bracelet for my watches whenever possible.
I was considering the boutique version as it comes on a bracelet. But, it seems hard to find and I'm not sure I want to pay the premium on one. I also like the gilt with the brown dial on the one I have now.
I pretty much agree.. this line of watches is Seiko's BB58 equivalent, regardless of the color.. and, unlike the bb58, we will likely not need to wait years just for 1 additional color option. Seiko got at least 4 out the gates, bam!
Lastly, curious. Why do you say 63mas? Isn't it 62mas? Sorry if I miss the reference or got something wrong.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  Před 3 lety +1

63 is the first 2 numbers in the movement. Just like 62 was the first two numbers in the movement for the original. 6R mas is used sometimes for the 05x 62mas. Thanks for the input bro! The 143 did feel safe to me as well. It sucks you has a bad movement tho.

I own a BB58 that I bought not because I wanted a cheaper Rolex but just because I wanted a gorgeous diver. And that was the case. I also own a Seiko SPB149J1 that I just bought. I use the 2 watched for different reasons and they feel very different on the wrist. Comparing SEIKO and Tudor makes no sense, especially when you then compared each brand to their more expensive sisters. They all have their own history, their reason to exist and they have their own segment.

Thanks for sharing. Great video, great humor, love the watch.. I actually just bought a Tudor Black Bay Steel and gold and a Tudor Royal day date in steel. Really nice watches. But yeah, nobody cares about Tudor being a sister brand of Rolex. I don't even bother explaining it to people. Nobody cares, I don't even care! I like them but always end up selling them anyways. They sure don't prevent me from contemplating to flip the Black Bay and buy this Seiko. It's super good looking.
How I see it, in the end there are 10 kind of watch wearers.
    1) The Sleeper: The type that's not really into watches. They buy or get a watch and wear it for the rest of their life. Like my girlfriend for instance. In our 10 year relationship, she wore one Rado Diastar for 10 years straight. And I bet my life on it 10 years from now in 2031 she will be still wearing that same watch😴😴😴😴
    2) The Flasher: The type that has money enough and buys the most expensive one just for the status but has no clue about movements or history of brands. They love their monstrosity iced out Jacob the jeweler watches, Blinged out Rolex's and other hideous watches normal people wouldn't want to be caught dead with.
    3) The Nitpicker: The type that saves up for a watch, looks at specs and watches reviews for years and then buys it. They tend to go for watches with a great price/quality ratio and go nuts over a misaligned bezel or scratch on their watch. They also promote their watch wherever they can as the best watch ever!
    4) The Collector: The true collectors, they keep everything they ever bought and have an impressive collection, a widely variation of all sorts of watches.
They are very knowledgeable and own many expensive watches but like to wear their cheap watches just as much as their expensive ones.
    5) The Flipper: the absolute watch nutjobs. They are quite similar to the collectors only don't place too much emotional value on their watches because they tend to sell it rather sooner than later so never get too attached to a watch. Always want a new watch, and when they have it, they sell it for the next best thing...the flipper is never truly happy. No matter the brand, no matter the cost, it never stays long. They do love watches and are in general very knowledgeable but they can't afford or don't have the need to own dozens of watches at the same time, so frequently sell part of their collection to buy the next one.
    That would be me.
A typical number 5...a serial flipper.
    6) The Rolex nerd: this type is usually the lower educated type who fell with their nose in some money. They only talk about Rolex and think that people who don't wear a Rolex are poor people....Rolex Rolex Rolex!
    7) The High Horseman:
This type usually used to be Rolex guys, but evolved in their snobbery and look down on Rolex and every other brand since they found out they're all just low to mid tier brands and there are far more expensive watches out there. Since they found out they love to talk about it. They love pretending they own Lange and Söhne and Pateks and in case they actually own one they walk around with a polish cloth in their pocket. They don't actually wear their watch, their watches wear them.
    8) The hypocrite:
This type loves their Grand Seiko and think everybody else are fools for buying Swiss watches, because to them Grand Seiko is superior and cheaper and they love Grand Seiko for being "lowkey".
Not realising by talking non stop about Grand Seiko being better and amplifying how Grand Seiko is much more expensive than a normal Seiko, they also brag...they also seem to forget Grand Seiko is also overpriced, just like every other Swiss brand.
    9) The fashionista:
The type that think Armani and Chanel watches are something to write home about. Not knowing they just payed 2000 dollar for a watch with a $20 movement.
    10) The Scrooge.
Last but not least, the Scrooge. The type that is very proud and content with their $10 Casio and always claim a $10 watch tells the time just as good as $10.000 watch. They're very proud at their Jerry Springer'ish wisdom and think the rest of the world went insane by paying over $10 for a watch.
With that said, back to the lovely Seiko. If I pull the trigger, which I will, this Seiko will be my new next best thing. Love it!!!
After 30+ years of seeing watches come and go I'm secretly always on the lookout for The one! The never ending search for the perfect watch.
    I'm dying for a stayer which I won't sell...
    Will this be it?
Anyways....my apologies for my little bookwork. Felt like sharing my vision on watch wearers...for anyone who read this far: Which category are you?

@@EscapementWatch Haha no problem at all my friend. I never mind talking about watches with fellow watch enthousiasts and glad to hear you enjoyed my little bookwork! Hahaha two-door! That's a good one! Don't mind me using that name in the future! But congrats on your Black bay! Really nice watches aren't they?! Can't really go wrong with them. They nailed the design and personally I have had mine for over 2 months now and believe it or not, it runs +0 seconds in 2 months. It's hands down the most crazy accurate automatic watch I've ever owned. The inhouse MT5612 is from another planet....or maybe I just got a very rare and lucky example..who knows.
Sometimes it runs a second slow or fast but it somehow evens itself out every day and when I wake up in the morning it's still exact the same time as the atomic clock. Sometimes I wonder if they didn't secretly put a quartz in that two-door😂.
I have the 41mm S&G and it just sits so perfectly on my wrist...it's a real winner.
And yet somehow I feel the uncontrollable need to sell it again to have something new in exciting around the wrist.
The mind of a flipper is a mysterious yet wonderous thing. Used to own a Pelagos as well which I truly adored...yet sold it.
Either way, Tudor is a great brand! And I bet you'll have a great time with your 58.
And yeah I understand what you mean when you talk about your Stowa. (Which are super great watches by the way). I always wanted to buy one but never came to it due the lack of water resistance. I need my crowns to be screwed down. They do have the new sport pilot flieguhr but it isn't half as beautiful as the normal flieguhr so that's a pitty.
But I do get the emotional value some watches may possess. I used to be number 4...the Collector. I had an Omega that was just like your Stowa, a watch I would never sell! Or so thought....it was My first luxury watch. Or actually my third, but my first really cool one....untill I sold it.😂
After that I never placed any emotional value on watches again. One day I saw all those watches laying around in my house while never actually wearing them...waste of money...and thus I became a flipper with a rule:
I only allow myself to own 3 expensive watches at the same time!
Awell, it keeps us from the Street right?!

Collector, although my collection is just getting started. My first watch was a fossil from my dad. Then on my 18th birthday I bought myself a tag heuer F1. On my 21st birthday I bought myself a Tag Heuer aquaracer, and then this year I’m 23 and after selling all stock from my business I went and bought myself a tag heuer Carrera. I just saw this seiko and I’ve fallen in love with it. I think this will be my next watch. But I really want a tag heuer Monaco.

Hi FallingTitan, just out of curiosity i found your post on reddit regarding you selling the bracelet that came with SPB143 which was apparently for SPB051, was it true? How does it fit into the SPB143? Is the endlink wobbly? I'm thinking to get the bracelet from SPB051 as it fits better to SPB143 imo. Been lookin into this information but i couldn't find any information. Would you be able to share some pictures of SPB143 on that bracelet, if any? Cheers mate, greetings from down under...

Another nice looking watch from Seiko, however having just got the BB58 myself and owned a number of Seikos previously, the Tudor is on a different level.
Previously had the 62MAS re-issue SPB051, and also have the SPB153 Willard, so no stranger to the brand. As much as I enjoy my Seikos, there are elements which are obviously designed to keep the cost down, and always found the accuracy to be variable. Nothing wrong with that, but with retail prices in the UK now past £1,000 for some of these models, I'm not sure they represent the good value that they used to.
As for the Tudor, it feels like it'll last a life time and the time keeping is consistently excellent (currently +1s after 10days!).

Dont think you beat anything or the system by buying a Tudor. People buy Rolex cause of the brand. Rolex is a brand that none watch people buy because of the name and nothing else. 90% of Rolex buyers dont know anything about watches. You wont get the name and the brand by buying the Tudor. You will get a great watch like Omega and JLC etc, but thats not important for most of the Rolex buyers (sheeps)
