That fight scene between Inigo and Westley is honestly one of the greatest fencing scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie. Their footwork is actually accurate to traditional fencing, and the politeness even during a fight is undoubtedly something they would have been taught, since proper fencing was mostly a gentleman’s sport.

Shrek is a satire of campy, soapy fantasy movies, aka, the old Disney. Shrek is a lot more potty-humour and less sass, but they're actually quite similar. The first two movies were pretty good with the satire, but now the series is a joke, hence the memeification. Also, Shrek was a book first. Fun facts. :3

At one point, Inigo is drunk and waiting for Fezzik. A guard steps up and says "Ho, there!" Inigo replies, "I'm not moving. Keep your ho there." EXCEPT... Mandy Patinkin's Spanish accent is so specific that when he says "ho there", it comes out _joder_ - "to fuck". Inigo just told that guard to go fuck himself!

I saw this film during its first theatrical run a couple of times, and each time I had the pleasure of being the only person in the auditorium who cracked up at that line. Yeah, and some comedy is stale and outdated a month after it's written, even if it's good. In fact, most jokes lose their humor across time. Only some things stay recognizably funny. Case in point: I'll bet you could read any Shakespeare play and miss at least 50% of the jokes. There are things in there that don't sound like jokes _at all_, but that put people on the floor in his time. Comedy is neither universal nor eternal - it depends completely on shared factors. If those are not present, the joke cannot work.

There a number of reasons. Often comedy is based on surprise so seeing it again reduces the comedy value. Some humor is topical, so it's only funny at the time it was created and/or for the people from that situation. Also, sometimes jokes are funny due to pushing the edge, but years later the edge has been pushed so far, the original joke is passe.
I remember watching Office Space in the theater and you could tell who worked in an office and who didn't by who you saw laughing. No one under 18 laughed at all, but most of the adults did. Likewise, when Blazing Saddles made the campfire scene was majorly subversive, now fart jokes are barely funny.

I loved Office Space and I watched it for the first time a couple years ago and I've never worked in an office. I understood the jokes by listening to a lot of people gripe about office work in the '90s.

+Juan Segura I completely disagree. Yeah TLOK isn't as good as Avatar was, but then again, not a lot of stuff is. It's hard to capture lightning in a bottle again when you already did it once. But even then, TLOK is still an amazing show and a great successor to one of the best TV shows of all time. What didn't help though was Nickelodeon's bullshit treatment of Korra. If they were fully behind it like they were Avatar and actually gave the creators more freedom or resources, it would have been even better.
