For anyone who wants additional info, for a sedan if you get 5% in the back and 50/35etc. the front windows will look overall a bit darker because of the rear windows being 5%, however if the windows in the back are 15%+ then the front windows will look like they have not as much tint. Also interior color plays a huge factor in the darkness in the tint from the outside, black interior really makes the car windows darker

man i got triple layers on front 2 windows measuring at 0% vlt with 18% on windshield and it is still not dark enough as in bright sunny days, I can still see through the windows and see my bright tan interior. Shit wack. It is not that bad on night to be honest. Maybe if the third layer was 5% and not 20%, than it could've being fully black out but I decided to go with 20% as I think it is a bit easier on night and provides less reflections. Back windows are double layered measuring at 7% and the contrast is noticeable but I don't think ill be tinting them again as the civic probably going be sold by January. On the next car, I'm definitely going with 15% over 5% all around and 20% on windshield again. I think that's going be the perfect setup for privacy.

  • @tommy__a

this is for anyone deciding what shade they want. i have 20 all around 5 drop about 5 inches below the as1. from certain angles the side windows are nearly clear(looking from back of car through sides toward windshield). and at the same time some angles are nearly impossible to see through. it all depends on if sun is shining through the shield or not so in reality on sunny days you won’t get a true 20% out of it but on cloudier days you will have a limo look at certain angles. if i were to tint again i would go 5 all around no questions asked.

On two different trucks I have ran 20 on the shield and 5 over 15 all around. The first truck i had I started with 15 all around and 35 on the shield and eventually you get use to the lighter and want to go darker. By the time i sold my 06 cateye it had 20 on the shield and 5 over 15. Got my 2015 sierra and tried to run just 5 and 20 on the shield and quickly missed having my cab windows 5 over 15. slapped a 15 layer over the 5 and I'm committed to never going back to a lighter setup ever again lol. If you run dark tint long enough on a daily driver you get use to it. 5 years same tint, no tickets here in TN. Memphis area really isnt strict at all. If a cop gives you a tint ticket its probably if they are having a bad day and wanna add it on top of something else they pulled you over for lol

The second biggest, which I had never thought of before learning this, is limo tint doesn’t allow for the external predictive cues that a pedestrian might receive from a driver when, let’s say, crossing a street. Is the driver paying attention? Do they see me and is it safe to cross yet? Etc. these cues are not exclusive to pedestrians but are also applicable to other drivers. Most would be surprised at how much feedback seeing the driver can give.

35% is awful dark for a windshield at night. I would recommend 50%. I know 50% looks light but considering you have 5% on everything else 50% on the windshield will appear darker than usual from the outside looking in but the inside looking out will only have 50% of the drivers visibility blocked even at night.
I own a glass shop and tint also. Usually after I work at my shop I will tint windows at the person's home if they are wanting tint darker than street legal. I tell them it's for off road use only and have them sign a document stating the vehicle getting tint too dark for legal laws was stated to me to be only used for off roading. I pretty much go as dark as they want on every window but the windshield. I tinted a close friends ride once 20% all the way round including the windshield. He got in a horrible wreck and wheelchair bound the rest of his life. He finally admitted to me he wasn't able to see enough through his windshield before pulling out in front of a greyish black suv.
