    Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

    Good second "followup" video of the Black Magic 'walmart" ceramic tint. I've used the Black Magic 20% tint when it was labeled "PROFESSIONAL", and it worked great (no haze). The "SELECT" tint of the Black Magic series is PURE CRAP, and turns purple after a while. Looks like the version of the 20% will work great for my needs (and it looked good on the window you did). Thanks for the comparisons.

    Great video! I actually learned on Walmart tint (thank you self checkout) in 2004. The expensive stuff use to be a metalized layer instead of ceramic and it has always looked like that. It was also much harder to work with and would not shrink good at all. Only benefit was since the stuff was so thin you really never needed to shrink it on side windows and if you did, you could do it with just a hair dryer.

    Thanks so much for the milk demo. I never use enough soap in my solution because I'm afraid it will show up as residue under the tint when it dries. I've wasted a lot of tint over the years because I couldn't reposition it without damaging it. Apparently the soap squeezes out more thoroughly than I thought, so I can make life much easier on myself from now on......lol

    I wonder if they reformulated it in the last year?
    They no longer have a 35% VLT option, and I picked up a roll really to put on my house windows (it's cheap, and really the only ceramic film you can buy in small batches/without having to contact an installation company. I really didn't care if it turned out a little hazy since the outside of the windows only gets cleaned once a year, so it's hazy anyways...)
    It's still obviously cheap, and has that typical blue/purple tint to it, but in your videos it seems to have a green tint.
    Maybe they actually listened, maybe it's all in my head vs cheap tint that I've seen. as a good tint shouldn't be noticed at all
    (Like I didn't notice my car had a tint installed from the dealership until a month into owning it. and that's mostly because they used cheap garbage for the back window, so the edges started lifting + it faded to purple & hazed over within a couple years. the side windows I wouldn't have noticed except they wanted to keep the window stickers on so you can see there's a layer over them from the inside if you look close.)
    Now, if you plan on doing more than a couple windows, the cost of buying a bulk roll starts to make sense real quick. This stuff is ~$1.53-$1.92/sqft, whereas you can get a 20ft roll of a good ceramic like Xpel XR Plus for ~$1.32-$1.43/sqft. So once you're looking at buying 4 rolls of Black Magic, it becomes cheaper in every way to just buy a roll of the good stuff off a reseller.

      @DevArnold Před rokem +1

      Yea. I’ve gotten great results with cheap film, just make sure it’s film, not the “cling” with the paper roller in between, and comes in a box. Just one thing, when setting the tint, especially black magic, when you set the first part and the top edge and have it line up squegee it and let it sit for ten minutes to dry and adhere. Before rolling it up, to finish setting the bottom and into the seals. Otherwise the tint will crinkle, and will slide all over, so def let it sit and dry before rolling up, also be sure to cut the bottom edge longer to tuck under the seal. Otherwise the cheap tint will catch and curl up. Also you don’t HAVE to shrink it. I never have. I’ve used the Walmart “black magic” brand tint film probably on ten cars

    • @DevArnold
      @DevArnold Před rokem +1

      To clarify, make sure your tint comes in the plastic box like he has on this video, not the square cardboard box that “gila” uses, and the the cling comes inside. Also don’t buy the tint kit, just use a pray bottle with bottle water. And five drops of Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo! Just don’t let it sit, more than a day, you’ll get clumps inside the water after it sits for a day
