- I just bought an Audi S3 and had it shipped in across the country from California! You'd think since everything car related is illegal in California the S3 would be ready to go! However it had an illegal modification that we had to remove before I could buy the S3! So in todays video we go back in time to when I bought the S3. Before buying the car I spent some time at the dealer once the car arrived, to help remove the window tint that was on it. The S3 had about 20% tint on the sides and 5% tint on the back glass. That doesn't pass inspection in NC, so it had to be removed before I could actually buy the car. Fast forward about two weeks later, I brought the S3 into Sunstoppers for a full window film installation! They installed Xpel XR Plus window tint on all the glass! I went with a 35% film on the sides and back, so with the factory hue of window glass, it should register close to 30%. For the windshield we did a 70% film which is barely darker then factory glass, but since this is a ceramic window tint, it will still block nearly all the heat and sun rays keeping the interior cool. When people tint their windows and don't apply a film to the windshield, your still letting in so much heat! I will always do the windshield in my cars because that extra bit gets rid of extra heat from the sun! This is the same percentages I went with o the GTR and I'm very happy with how dark it looks and how it keeps the car cool! Sunstoppers installed this full car window tint in less then a half hour and did it with precision! Amazing team to work on your car and I'm always very happy with how my cars turn out! Glad the S3 is back to having tint on it and is still legal! ish..

I just did my Audi a3 20% all around including windshield. Question they cut around break light. They wouldn’t take the light out. It doesn’t look awful but I like how it doesn’t have cut out.

Watched the video and it was a good video. I love the look of the Audi. The tint that was installed give this car a nice dark smoke look and it's not too dark so they can't even see you in the vehicle. At least you will have some type of privacy of your own but the cops could be able to see someone is in the car. I highly recommend this style of tinting if you don't want it too dark. I have a Dodge Durango it has factory 20% tint in the back and I plan to put 26% or maybe 30% in the front two windows. I already have a 15% bar across the windshield.

nobody is gon stop you for 20% I had that for like 10 years in Florida, not once and the limit is 28%

I got pulled over for 20.. and going 10 over the speed limit. Think the cop had nothing better to do. It was tricked out mustang with a loud exhaust and probably just thought I had money. (That wasn’t the case)

This is so unfair pa sucks, they have the most strict tint laws and nobody lives there. You basically can't even have tint but I'm getting mine tinted at 20% wish me luck. I don't drive anywhere far.
It’s not even just about getting stopped it’s not being able to pass inspection
The tint is nice. NC is alot like SC. A friend of mine from SC had the windows tinted on his truck, and got stopped by the staties. They impounded the truck! And he had to have it towed to the shop that did the work just to remove and install a legal tint. Count yourself lucky. Could have been a lot worse. He got $500 fine to boot.
Dang that’s crazy! They aren’t too strict up here. But if you get pulled over they can add it to the ticket.

Great video, but... sad to see the lack of water protection for your car while working on the doors and back window. How hard is it to spend 2 seconds putting a towel down over the back seat? And maybe you didn't catch it in the video, but I was surprised to not see a soak rope put down while doing the windshield.
Normally they do have towels down in the back. Can't remember if they put the rope up front. Sometimes there isn't enough room to squeeze it in. But honestly the water dries out and really doesn't effect anything

Interesting! The lowest we have had in NC was 20% on my brothers lotus and it was fine! Just depends on where you are and who’s looking I guess.

I'm glad you didnt do the light in front and limo for rear. The wanna be gangster look as i call it. This looks very classy, and since its Xpel , you still get the protection. Tint doesnt have to be dark anymore to be effective.
Yeah I don't like that. Legal-ish tint is perfect for what I like. And good quality film blocks all the heat
I’ve never watched a window tint video and am looking to get mine done on my new car but quick question why did your window and windshield look dirty/look like it had specs everywhere after when you were driving home?
The water in between the glass and film needs time to dry. Heat will do that over a few days! That’s how’s it been for all my cars and for any car, that’s why they tell you to not roll the windows down right away, it needs time to “cure”.
Glad SC doesn't have inspections anymore. Could easily run double 5 if I wanted.
I used to live there and they still have a % limit even without the inspections. I think it was 25% because my brother has 28% and was fine.

I got 30% done on my car, except the windshield. Here in Indiana it’s illegal to tint the entire windshield.
Oh cool. It's technically illegal to do the front windshield. But a 70% film is barely noticeable. You can do a 90% film to still block all the heat tho and not darken it at all
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Can you put stickers on the tint? For example, my dealer puts stickers on my windshield telling me when to come in for my next oil change
@@wckdend9317 yeah that shouldn’t be an issue. As long as they aren’t right on the edge. Most of those stickers are more like cling stickers vs actual adhesive stickers tho

@@juelz4516 as mentioned in the video. The dealer has to strip the tint to sell the car. As a dealership you must sell a car that complies with all state laws. If not you can risk loosing your dealer license. It’s not about how much money I can spend. Not that tint breaks the bank. But if you listened to the video. Legally the dealer had to strip the tint
Very straight forward and to the point, but I’m a bit confused did you get 35% all the way around or 30% ??? You said 35% in the beginning and your description says 30% !!!? 🤔 I’d like to know exactly so I can make up my decision tomorrow getting my car tinted 👏🏼
It registers about 30% Same setup I did on my GTR and I've been happy with it. They didnt really have the % to do a 35%, so any lighter would have been closer to 40
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I went today to a tint shop and went for the xpel xr plus as well so the guy told me if I had to put 30% over my factory 80% would look around 20ish If I opt for 35% would look around the 30ish !! Not really sure how this will look like I have black interior and going to do the 70 on windshield !
I never seen anyone tint the outside window
They measured and prepped the tint on the outside, but the video shows it being installed on the inside…tint wouldn’t last very long on the outside.
Didn't even bother to cover the back seat area. I wouldn't be happy about that lol. All water going into the car. Mold spores lol
It’s perfectly fine! We’ve had at least 6 vehicles tinted by them and there’s no problems at all! It’s not enough to do anything.

They used Xpel brand film that was a ceramic film. Best stuff to get!

@@sahilkumtakar7240 it wasn’t legal. I mentioned all this in the video. The dealership I bought the car from had to remove the tint in order to legally sell the car to me. It was 20%. In NC a dealer can’t sell a car with illegal tint.

What??? Tint is on the inside of the glass! They do work on it on the outside yes, but that’s not where it’s installed. I show all that in this video.

They just measure it that way then they put it on the inside
But how does it look in the dark when you drive
Just like if there wasn’t any tint! It’s not dark from the inside so it’s very easy to see.

@@bradhaughton6698 That’ll be a good percentage! You may see some areas where you can tell the tint is on driving at night, but that’s a safe bet. Any darker and you’d notice it more!

Not really needed. Easy enough to wipe down afterwards.

It registers at 32%. With tint there is no true percentage you just buy. The glass itself has a tint to start, and then generally a 45% film will get you in the low 30s. But it will vary car to car due to the differences in the natural taint to glass.

Depends on the state you live in!
In Missouri the legal limit is 20 for front windows. The rest can be as dark as you want. The front window only till the mark.
