5% Tint - An Honest Review

- In this video, I explain my 5% tint and what exactly a tint entails. Some of the things to consider are the percentage you want to go and the nighttime driving factor. My 2013 Audi S5 has 5% ceramic tint from 3M and it's lasted almost 2 years with no issues at all.
I recommend getting a high quality tint because it'll save you money and hassle in the long run. Thanks for watching, subscribe if you're new!

Threw 20% all around on my truck, loved it but after a year I started feeling like it wasnt as dark, put 5% on and I'm beyond happy. I do wish I could put 35% on the shield but I think I'm already pushing my luck.
I’d say go for it. 5% is already illegal. If a cop is gonna pull you for 35% on the shield, they’ll definitely go after 5% on your sides.
@@FlexSZN23 if my state didnt do inspections I would. I got a medical exemption for tint but I'm still not allowed windshield tint
5 % is the shit.
I have 5% in the back and 25% up front plus a 5% strip on the shield. 25% is nice but it’s so dark (still visible through) you might as well go all the way and do 5% IMO
@@educatedredneck3342 yeah all my vehicles got 5% now, once I had it on my truck I fell in love theres no going back now
5% looks killer but let's be honest. Driving around at night and not being able to see isn't exactly safe.
Are you saying that out of experience or based on reviews regarding 5%?
@@albertc2390 experience from a friends car. It could be the fact I'm not used to dark tint like that but I couldn't see out of his vehicle at all
@@lobbyrobby I see. I would be coming down from 15%. I think it also depends on what you're accustomed to.
@@albertc2390 agreed. How's 15? I'm thinking about 20 on my car
@@lobbyrobby I would prefer darker but 15% is good. Good visibility during the evening. I've never had any issues with it. I am still able to see vehicles without their headlights on; that's what worries me the almost about upgrading to 5%.
5% tint and I can still see in through the rear window because of the light coming in from the windshield. Can't see in through the sides.
Just bought an e92 and got it tinted 5% all around today. thanks for the dust/sand particle tip bro that’s gonna save me 🤙🏽
No problem! Heard the tip a few years ago and decided it should be passed on haha
@@KevGso what should I do? Should I always clean my windows before I leave the house?
I went with 5 all around. At first was going to go with 15 but saw that most people who got 15% ended up regretting it after awhile since it’s not as dark as most would want. Plus I’m in Texas and that sun here be bright and hot
Got a car put 15% definitely regretted and wasted money due to the fact people can see you very good when it’s sunny and also still a lot of heat coming in
@Cydiahacksandtips can you see your vehicle in the side mirror at night? Seeing out the side mirrors is the main thing I'm worried about.
@@nateb.1568 with 15% you easily can with 5% not sooo much
Do cops care much here in Texas about the time??

Awesome video man. Out of all the tint videos I've watched, you're the only one to mention how the inside of the window gasket can scratch the tint job up. Great tips in the video!
Much appreciated! Just wanted to share everything about the experience. Things I wish I knew, etc. 🤘🏼
Thanks man, this is a really good explanation

Yeah I have 5% all round including the front and the panorama sun roof and love it. Only problem is when it rains really heavy but still drivable.

Thank you so much I have a new to me 2018 A4 and want to get rears tinted. this was a great video. Cheers
5 percent in the back and 15 on the sides is god level
5% tint windows you know your windows are so dark. At night time it’s already dark. You really got a watch where you’re driving it Watch people pedestrians
I was thinking about getting 5% on my rear window because of the large amount of people driving with blinding headlights. Just to be clear, youre saying the lights are worse with a tint?
I got 5 percent all away around but but not the windshield I regretted it at first and now I love it I got used to it
Have you ever got pulled?
Do you have a video of you driving at night?
Thanks man im getting tint in the morning.. might just get 5 all around on my 2013 chevy cruze
I have 2% all the way around an I love it! More privacy then ever day an night no one will be able to see in
Every car I've driven I get 5% on all windows except the front, love the privacy. Same problem though with the debris in the window catch, had a small scratch occur once from a rock that way. Otherwise, no regrets.
Ever got pulled?
Not yet!
Have cops ever drove past you with your windows at 5 percent?
@@soulure how do you manage at night? with snow/rain? (if you get any) i have 17% on my to fronts and 5% all around the back. its not that bad but you do definitely have to pay attention more. was thinking going 5% on my two fronts because with 17% you can clearly still see inside of it. 5% is too dark in the day let alone at night. Good luck with that.
Did you get the windscreen on the s5 tinted at all or leave it stock?
Stock!
went into the shop expecting to get 20% but I saw the finish up of the customer before me who got 20% and last minute decided I wanted 5% all arnd and havent regretted it. if anything its not dark enough bc you can still slightly see a silhoutteif you stare in the front seats cus the windshield only has a 5% sunstrip
In my experience even, cops don't really care about rear tint, it's usually the front. If a cop see's 5% tint on the front then they start having issues
Yea same, got pulled over a month ago for having 5% all around, end up changing it to 5% on the rear 20% on the front and 35% on the windshield, and it’s amazing I love it it blends in so perfect
Keep your window rolled down a little
@@Migoladon so I owe a good car and all. Thing I want is x pel I think it's called. But ceramic tint 70%.. then slap on 5% in the car. So I get protection from the uv rays. And privacy.

That's because 9/10 depending on your state, the rears can be as dark as you want. It's only the fronts that are regulated mostly.

I'm glad I live in Virginia where cops don't stop you just for dark tints, it has become a secondary offense now. The only way you can get a warning/ticket is if a cops stops you for a traffic violation.
I got ceramic 15% all around, with 50% windshield tint and 5% sun strip on my 2018 Camry.
I’m in Virginia as well and I just got my Audi Q5 tinted wanted the front to match the already tinted back windows and I was afraid of being pulled over for it. Glad I saw your comment. Thanks

I'm in Michigan too. I have 5% sunbar, 20% front, 2% back and 5% rear windshield.
I'm been in debate about the 5% and I'm going tomorrow to get 5 on the front. I roll my windows down too when I see the police lol. Michigan needs no tint laws, the amount of chargers and rams that drive around murdered out

Same here !!! And true im used to it already
Same n it’s the perfect way to do it tbh
is the audi better than the bmw?
Picked up a used murdered out Camaro and figured I would put 5 all around. Driving at night is like driving blind. Outward visibility though the windshield is fine but everything else is just shadows. Looks sweet but it's a pain. It would be a coin toss if I were to have to choose again, but I would live with the choice.
Try 5% rear 15 or 20% on the front sides and a 60-80% on the windshield. The darker windshield will help the lighter sides look darker. 20% on the front sides and 70% on the windshield is what I have. It’s a good balance
If you guys want to not get tickets and pass inspection get your self a tint exemption you can get it at your local dmv then get your eye doctor to sign it and say you have photophobia it’s when ur sensitive to light
yep 💯 worked for me Lol
i'm thinking of going 20% ..just side windows only...dark but still easy to drive at night right? and my car is white...so should look darker? and do tesla model 2 cars have the issues with tint residues in the window frames too? thanks
I’ve had 20% on two cars now. Both white cars actually hahah. It’s perfect. Enough privacy and looks great. Not sure about the tint residue question

Did you just get it installed?
The tint won't look as dark while it's curing.
Mine is dark, and you can only really see in during direct sunlight in later hours of the day when the sun is hitting it right on. Otherwise, it’s almost impossible to see in from the outside
KevG oh yeah i guess its because my tint hasnt cured enough yet but i hope it gets a bit dark, thanks for your responses
@@brbryyyyy94 How long should u wait till it cures? I tinted my windows 7 days ago
It will only be darker if you get your windshield tinted. If not you’ll see a little in the inside as the light shines through the windshield
Is it preferred to do 5% the back 2 windows and rear window or all windows including front 2 windows if you choose to do 5% tinted windows?
Mine are 35% all around and I want to go lower with the tint. What do you recommend is the best option? Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
I have 35 windshield and 5 all around and you can still see inside if you get close

I can’t decide I have a 2019 sliverado high country I just need the driver Side and front passenger side the rear and back has tints from factory 20 percent I was thinking getting 5 percent on the driver side and front passenger side
Thats kind of backwards it will look weird if you have 5% up front compared to your 20% factory back. I'd either try to match the back 20% with 20% up front, or do 5% front and put at least 20% or lower tint in the back over top of the factory 20% which should come out to 4-5%. If it were me I might try 5% over the factory 20% in the back which would be 1% and do 5% up front. Put a light film 35-50% on the windshield with a 5% visor brow on top. Factory tint thats not a film is just for privacy and doesn't really reject heat all that well compared to film. 4 door trucks and suvs in most states can have the back as dark as you want. It's the full windshield and front doors that might get you in trouble if you go too dark. My state is 32% front doors but my area doesn't seem to care.
@@bengunn6571 so I should put 20 in the back and the front driver side and passenger 5 right?
@@bengunn6571 I’ll do probably 35 in the back and 5 percent in the front passenger and driver side u think so?
@@dennistv598 yes if you want all 5 windows to match 5% front and 20% over factory 20% in the back. I went with llumar pinnacle ceramic 5% on the 5 windows of my sedan. $500 but it keeps the car cool.
@@dennistv598 if you do 35% over 20% in the back it would be a little lighter than the 5% up front. The back would meter around 7%. I would have someone meter your factory windows just to be sure it is 20%. I would also ask if the film is slightly lighter than advertised. Online for example I'm looking at getting 40% llumar ceramic full windshield but the film that I'm looking at says on paper that it is 43% but they still count it as 40%. So small variations can change the outcome. Its simple math though .2×.2=4%. Some places might do 25% but it isn't as common .25×.2=5%
