I mainly want tint for privacy. I hate when I'm sitting in a parking lot or in a bad part of town and I know people can see everything I'm doing because I have no tint at all lol
Exactly why I tint mine, bad parts of town people like to see what I have in my car or truck and that’s not good
Right same like not freaking dark dark but I just want to have privacy I hate clear windows
@@ogeeezzz8130 I'm Black and can confirm. I tinted my bathroom mirror with 5% so I won't be seen by myself in the morning and try to rob me.

I’ve been fishbowl riding since August, and I’m finally getting tinted windows. I’ve had ppl wave at me and all on multiple occasions lol.

My daughter compares riding in a vehicle with no tint to being in a fish tank 🤣🤣🤣🤣
where i live, we call a car with no tints a "fish bowl" so she's pretty right 😂😂
Fish bowl
She's not lying. We refer to it as a fishbowl. Just bought a new car, and I have major fishbowl syndrome. Getting my windows tinted this weekend
My city has recently been experiencing a heatwave, and I generally park my car out in the sun, both at home and at work. After consistently having to start my car and let it run for a few minutes before getting in myself so I don't boil to death, I resented and scheduled a tinting at a shop near my work, which is going to be 6 days from now.
I went 35% front and 20% otherwise
@@brendancross2767 did the tint help out with your problem? I also live in a pretty hot area so I'm wondering if a tint will help block out some of the heat.
wow ur the only guy that showed the inside AND outside of the car tint. You r a big help thanx bro
JoshTries thanks for watching! Glad I could help :)
Ryan Mayer can I do 35% in the front and 20% back 2 windows plus the rear?
Lowrider703 E Yes, you can do that. check your local laws if you want to be extra safe and not have any trouble with police
I agree
Geo Hanerio r u nuts?? 5 front windshield???
i have 5% limo tints all around my car cuz i have an ugly face and dont want to start accidents

Brandon P yup my car had 5% all round and when I parked at night I was like fuck haha!
I have triple 5% all around on every window including the windshield. My car is undrivable. Looks cool though.
Casual hahahahahah that's awesome
Alberto Rodriguez i have a full led interior kit with additional lighting. if you turn it on you cant see it from the outside
Crazily enough, I never got ticketed even with cops right behind me. I feel like you can get away with more things like this in Hawaii than any other state.
I once saw an all black crown Vic on the highway like that
I think black cars with all around limo tints looks terrible. IMO the front driver and passenger sides should have a lighter tint. The different shades of tint from front to back gives the vehicle more style and character. It doesn't make an all black car look like a huge black block on wheels
Pro-tip: If your tint is too dark according to the law, roll your windows down at least part way so that the police can see inside of the vehicle during a traffic stop, especially at night. The officer will appreciate that and you'll be less likely to get a ticket for your tint. We don't like walking up on a car and having no idea how many occupants are in the vehicle or what they're doing.
Plus turn on your dome light.....I have LEDs in the back which fully illuminate my car so he can see in well before he gets to me. I actually got out of a 20 over speeding ticket at night because he was so impressed that I cared about his safety.
Dexter Bentley are you an officer?
WCF thunderwin4-2 Really 😂😂😂
TheChampDMan z I was being sarcastic der deer der
Dexter Bentley why not just roll it all the way down?
20% seems like the perfect tint honestly
it is thats why i went double 20% lol
20% of 20% is 4%
@@nolanvasser2725 are you saying double 20% IS 4%?
@@user-ii3cp7ot3s🤣
Yes. 20% tint lets 20% of the light in, converting from % to normal numbers 20% by dividing it by 100 which is 0.2. Then when you stack 20% ontop of 20%, its only letting 20% of 20% of light get through. You can find the amount of light getting in by multiplying 0.2 by 0.2. Which is 0.04, multiply this by 100 to get a % again and you have 4%. Thats why i find double 5% is so stupid. Its literally 0.05*0.05 = 0.0025% visibility lol. @@user-ii3cp7ot3s

Lmaoo my dad had to remind me 4 times that the lower the percentage, the darker it is. And yet here I am again...watching a video on how dark the percentages are. 😂😭
5% means that only 5% of the suns uv rays are getting in. I have double 5(0%)all the way around and 15% on the windshield. Shits perfect but I wouldn’t start out that dark. I started at 5% and 20% on the windshield and worked my way down as my eyes adjusted overtime:)

20% is the sweet spot. My law enforcement relative told me to turn on my interior dome light if I ever get pulled over at night to help law enforcement see how many people are in the vehicle.
5% tint makes it so I have to roll my windows at night. I went with 15% the 2nd time. Much happier, and still light a blunt in the car without people seeing! :)

I got 5% all around on my 2012 Impala ltz where I live they care about tint but then again they don't depends on the officer if any of y'all do get 5% try not to draw a lot of attention like blasting music ,speeding , any of that it was cops behind me plenty of times and didn't pull me over a officer told me when I was at a store that he doesn't care about tint he said he has better things to worry about than some tint

I have done this on 2 of my vehicles and I really like it. I do 5% on the sides and back, 20% on the windshield with 5% Shade band and I love it. I live in FL so it really helps with the sun and glare. I haven't been pulled over for just my tint, but if I do get stopped I make sure I put all the windows down so the officer can see into my vehicle and have never had a issue.
i got 50% on my car because i was scared to get pulled over but at this point idec anymore because i see people driving around with like 10-5% tint all the time.

Same here man
I’ve gotten pulled for 50% on front two windows. Guess that cop was having a REALLY bad day lmao
YIKES YOU GOT THAT RIGHT
Geeez remind me to not drive thru ur state 🤣
Getting pulled over for tint is like getting pulled over for an air freshener hanging from your rear view mirror/obstructing windshield; they, for whatever reason, think you're suspicious and that they can find something else to get you a ticket (inspection, registration, drugs, warrant, etc). Plenty of agencies do in fact have ticket quotas- and that increases the likelihood of bullshit traffic stops.
Been pulled over twice for mine. Get a doctors note for your eyes from an eye doctor lol. I have sun damage on my eyes. But just say the sun really hurts your eyes and gives you a headache when driving
I believe in some states you are not allowed to have any tint on the front windshield (i could be wrong)
I'm probably going to tint mine because i hate people staring at me when they drive up next to me at a red light. Like haven't they ever seen a naked guy driving with a finding nemo hat before? good grief...
Agreed! LOL!
Im getting my windows tinted tomorrow & I'm set on 20%. This video was very helpful. Definite subscription
Great video. Thanks for showing the inside too. Most videos don't do that. I have a Dart GT that I want to tint to 35%, so the fact that you showed the same car @ 35% was great! I now have a much better idea of what it will look like.

Driving in a fishbowl vs a tinted car, IN SUMMER, is a world changing experience
I left the front windshield untouched with no tint. 20% on my front driver and passenger, 5% on my rear driver and passenger, and 20% again on my rear windshield.
The logic was I wanted to keep the sun from frying the side of my face, I went dark in the back purely because they are my “privacy” windows and 20% on rear windshield so I can at least see when I back up. 16’ Ford Taurus.
@@roz99999 night time is enough to make you go “goddamn👨🏻🦯” but definitely tolerable. But where it really shines (or doesn’t) is in the afternoon driving home from work and the sun not beating up your face but definitely enough to keep people from seeing you. I honestly wish I would have gone a little darker in the rear but it’s enough to keep other peoples lights from bothering you in the mirror 💁🏻. And ultimately…it looks great🤷🏻
@impleno4438 20 is best. Still find it a bit too light tho. Probably cuz I only have a 6" 20% band to the top of the windshield so u can see pretty clearly into my vehicle depending on the angle u look from. I might put 35 on the windshield tho
Could you make the exact same video except showing visibility at night?

Good review on explaining window tint! I have really dark windows on my SUV but now gettin my car done at 20%....so this was the first video i viewed and probaly the best! Thanks hun!👍😁
Judging from this video I’m thinking just to be safe have the front windows be 35% and the back windows/rest of them 20%
@Pro Joker did you get it like that? How is it at night with little to no light?
Tell us, I think I'm getting the same

Definitely needed this video, I've previously done 5% tint on a car of mine and found it too dark, especially at night. So, I wanted to see what 20% and 35% looked like to see which to get on my new car. This helped a lot! Thank you!

5% in the front means you have to roll your windows down when you backup. I have 15% and its easy to see you and can barely see inside on the outside during the day, at night it looks just like 5%

This was honestly really helped I think I understand the percentage of the window tints now, I thought was 35% darker and 5% was lighter, I live in NJ they’re very strict here with tint so I’m gonna get 35 % tint lol thank you seriously
I live in NJ too i think I’ll do 35%! How’s it treating you
I thought NJ was free af with tint. Lmao I see cars limo’d out all the time.. From NY
Thank you for the explanation of what tint to use, it was very helpful.
This was a great video and like you said it does depend on where you live if the cop wants to mess with you or not . My front windshield is 15% and the rest is 5% all the way around . Never got stopped but it’s common here in Vegas though . A cop in Long Beach parked right next to me and he was questioning me on my tint I told him I was from out of town just visiting . He actually cut me a break and told me next time just get a rental lol
There is one HUGE plus for tinted cars. I have 5% on my st and drive in the dark a lot and headlights don’t blind you from the back. I had a big problem with this and it really used to bug me until I got 5%. Disadvantage is that it’s hard to see unlit places and if it’s dark and some dumbass dosen’t have their headlights on there’s no way you can see them. If it’s at that point where its just getting dark and people just don’t turn their headlights on for whatever reason.
Never forget the button under the mirror that flips it indirect also.
I feel you. Just bought an 09 Subaru Outback as my daily. It's a fishbowl and driving at night is UNBEARABLE, especially since most people nowadays are completely unaware that their highbeams are on.
you shouldn’t depend on someone else to have on their headlights just because you want 5% tints, you’re the true dumbass
Yeah 5% sounds completely stupid to me.
Same, I have 5% on my Mazda and I’m used to rolling down the windows for dummies with no headlights on at night, very dangerous if you’re not careful.
This really HELPED!!!! Thanks man! You’re a legend🙏🏻
I think another big mention for tint factor is your windshield. The amount of light that comes in from your windshield really affects how visible you are behind X tint type for your other windows. So 20% tint all around on my F150 vs it's big/tall windshield is a lot more visible inside than it is on my Supra, which has a very small windshield at a steep angle/lets far less light into the cabin. Also if you get pulled over and are tinted, its always a good idea to immediately turn on the interior light. It makes it easier to see you and they will be less likely to notice or give you shit about it.
I got 20% on all windows except my windshield and feel like It’s at I’ll too light, do you think if I get 20% on my windshield it will make it darker?
Yes I have a Mazda and the interior is really unique in the windshield is very close to the front seats you can touch it without even leaning forward so it makes tint look less dark.
5% all around in both my whips 🔥🔥🔥
You deserve 100M views for the comparison
I want to maintain the mystique; 20% on driver/passenger and 5% on the back.
This was super helpful. I was trying to decide between 15% and 35% on my vehicle and this was the knowledge I needed.
What did you end up going with? Also deciding between the 2.
@@WestSide1207 I don't remember exactly, but I feel like I did 15.
As far as I know, some places only have laws restricting the tint percentage of front windows. Personally, I don't really mind if people outside can see me; I'm getting the tint just to prevent my car from heating up like a sauna room when I park at my work place during the day in summer 🙃
I hope you learned that every state has a tint percentage law for every window!
@@804MRMAN Actually, I’m in Canada lol. At least in Ontario, the law only requires front windows to be higher than 35%, and the front windshield cannot be tinted at all (for newer vehicles). As for the other ones, you can tint them as dark as you want.

You were a big help thank you, the only person that showed both inside and outside.
5% all around 09XJR nicely put!
Thank you for sharing this content! As some of the others have pointed out, it was really helpful to see the exterior and interior of the following tint levels! ^-^
Thank you kindly for both day and night videos. It was really helpful to compare and make a decision about what tint to go with 🙏😎
“Driving on the wrong part of town” keep speaking facts
Would’ve been really nice to see them all from the outside side by side. Also, backing up a bit from outside would’ve been nice instead of just up close.
Thanks for showing this. May I ask if it was fairly cloudy the day of the video? The local companies only have 80, 40 and 15 ceramic tint in the area I am. (They have 55,33,26 and 15 in standard tint) I really want to go ceramic to see if it works but the choices are limited. I believe my other cars are 33 front, 26 rear. Seems like a 40/15 would be a huge contrast. I don't think I want 15 all around but think 40 may be too light. Your video was a big help in this difficult decision. I'm leaning towards 40 all around for my new Desert Bronze Hyundai. (The color is also hard to match) Shouldn't be to much lighter than the 35 you show here.
Im just getting mine tinted right now...I got entire back windows 5%, driver/passenger 15% and the windshield bar 10%

This is a great comparison. As another commentator noted, there is an inside and outside comparison of the various tints.
Thank you!
where i live the law says we shouldnt have tints lower than 35% on any window. theres a $50 ticket that turns into $100 ticket unless you remove the tints with in 24 hours. if you remove them and visit your local police station they would cancel the ticket.
i have 20% on the sides and back and 35% on the front, have received over 17 tint tickets in the past 7 years... not a single fuck given, im not removing my tints.
CarimboHanky hahahah atta boy, sucks the local PD gives you so much shit but gotta roll tinted always
No chicken shit tickets is what's wrong with this world. Its mostly city PD that will give you hassle and troopers where it is illegal. It's basically a tax. A way to pay the local government. That officer safety bs only applies if its like 5-20 percent and at grave yard shift.
+Vic O. Not even! Windows can be rolled down. If the pigs where all about their safety, they would tell you with a megaphone to roll down all of your windows and step out of the vehicle BEFORE approaching the vehicle.
This is just a law to make them flex their muscles.
CarimboHanky when you get pulled over say you didn't know about the tint, play the part you shouldn't get a ticket lol. I've had this happen to me about 4 times never got a ticket lmao
Nay Cee our traffic law have this fineprint that says ignorance of the law does not release from responsibility.
soo yeah, there was this one time a cop pulled me over and he was writting a ticket for the tints and i told him "i think its funny and ironic you are giving me a ticket for my 20% tints while driving that"

Exactly, did you pick a tint and how is it ? I want tints to protect my privacy but don't want to draw attention at the same time haha
efrain martinez i had windows tinted yesterday, and I thought the same. For my back windows I chose 5% since you can tint it however you want. And for my front windows I chose 18%. It is still pretty dark but people can see body outlines. So personally for me, 18% is a way to go if you’re worried!
I got 15% all around and 35% windshield. Windshield is too dark at night for me, and the sides could be a little lighter, too. 15/45 is the darkest I'd go. At this point, I think I'd prefer 20/60. Windshield has to be 3x the brightness of the sides to look right....
25/75 would probably be great if I did more night driving. Anything past 30/90 would be meh in daylight. Primarily because 90% is as light as it gets, lol.
The ceramic part is working good, though!
Hey how bad is 60 windshield at night? In winter? I was gonna go 20/50 but I’m not sure now cause if this comment I’d I should go 75 windshield or just not bother
@@5gun1 No idea. But bare windshield glass is apparently 75% or so, so anything above 70% isn't going to make it any darker since a tint's darkness is supposed to be including the bare clear glass. (If you have a truck with dark back windows, though, you have to factor in the base darkness on top of the tint darkness, and most factory stained glass is around 20%, so 20% on a 20 stain is 5% and 5% on a 20 stain is 1%)
I have a sample that's 53% in my tint meter case and I held that up to my eye while looking through the side of my car in bright daylight, and I'd say that's about the minimum you need to remove the searing brightness from reflections. Real shit, 50% on the windshield and 20% or 25% sides is going to be the ticket. Not less than 15% on the front sides.
If it's too dark, upgrade your headlights, but don't just get any shit. Come back to me if you decide you need to and I'll make you some solid recommendations. All the good bulbs are gonna be at least $100 a pair, though.
what’s cool about here in VA. They passed a law where cops can no longer pull someone over for having a heavy tint. Even if it’s not the legal limit
In Michigan, you're allowed to have any amount of darkness in the back window and back side windows but not a solar reflectivity greater than 35%. As for the front windows and windshield, you can tint 4 inches down from the top (no specification on darkness).
All Things Cars or get a doctors note and 5% all around!
Great job with this video, thank you for showing us this and doing a good job of it. Only thing that could have possibly made it better was showing us what it looked like at night time via a photo from the inside of each car or something. Thanks a lot, 20% looks like my jam. Cheers.
i done came back to this video at least 4 times
Thanks for the video! I have a 2yo that’s very sensitive to the sun light, right now I have factory tint on Buick Enclave I’m guessing it’s 20% but is still not enough for him and I’m tired of the window shades that keep falling off. So I want to find out what percentage I should use to apply over the factory? Any ideas?
This is exactly what i was looking for. Thx!
I would think the biggest problem with dark tints is driving at night. What would be nice is doing a video looking out the car at night to the left and right and trying to back up.
So 20% it is thanks bro 👍🏼
This vid helped a lot, thank you man🙏🏼
Thanks man this helped me out on my choice ! Great video
Just what I've been looking for.... A tint comparison
In the state of PA cars/suv's can have no tint darker then 70% on any window of the car. So basically in the state of PA you are not legally able to have tint. Which makes no sense.
joewillgo what the heck that's literally so lame, I don't get why the law hates tint so much
Ryan Mayer in new Hampshire no tint on sedans what so ever suvs 35 in rear and whatever in the rear of trucks if you have 4 outside mirrors
joewillgo I live in philly I have 5% all around except the windshield didn't get pull over ..... yet.....
joewillgo whaaaat! So confusing 😂😂 who ever made that law was on somethin!
Bao Le ayeee thatta boy! Hahah tint isn't really a problem unless the officers have nothing better to do
I have 18% ceramic on sides and back and 40% on the windshield. No problems seeing at all even on dark roads with no streetlights. I put a set of the led strips in the back seat just in case I pass a cop. You can see inside the car pretty well at night from a distance so I should be good.
Great explanation bro. Love the vid. Good job.
