    Thanks so much for doing this. My brother was trying to convince me to get 5%, but I think 20-15% is what I'll go with. I already have to wear glasses for night driving, I don't need to be adding 5% tint that won't let me see curbs...

    • @BoopSnoot
      @BoopSnoot Před rokem +27

      Its not just curbs, there was a midnight deep Sahara Africa black guy on a bicycle wearing dark gray sweatpants and a hoodie, and I pulled out from a store on the side in front of him as I couldn't see him AT ALL with 20% side window tint. Remember, not everything you need to see has lights on it or is being lit up by your headlights and there aren't always good street lights everywhere. 25% is the darkest I would go.

    • @IM-qy7mf
      @IM-qy7mf Před rokem +12

      @@BoopSnoot I don't want to do 25% because I don't think it looks good with my car, so I'll just take the tint off all together. Just did 20% and while driving back home on the highway, it took me longer than usual to feel confident changing lanes. When making a left turn into a neighborhood's street road, I kinda turned into the opposite lane because I couldn't see where the double yellow were. Not to mention, when reversing into my parking spot, I couldn't see the lines at all! That means if there's anything just a little darker than white, I'm gonna hit it.
      No thanks, I will take this off, and enjoy my _fishbowl_

  • @blok809
    @blok809 Před 5 lety +93

    Even cars with no tint, at times you have to roll down your windows a bit to see better, specially on rainy nights because the street lights and lights from other cars create a glare when the light is bounced off the water drops on the windows. 20% is the best medium for privacy, and being able to see out of.

Still the back windshield blocks my view. And i have to go in reverse slowly and at an angle since my car is lowered. Living that VIP low luxury black sedan lifestyle is a struggle. I avoid speed bumps because they bottom out my car hard. It's a struggle but looks so clean lol anyway I enjoy the privacy and sun protection at daytime. I can see perfectly in the day. My rear passengers never get hot. And noone can see my passengers (their shadow) or belongings in the rear of my car. I can have my expensive phones, laptop, and tablets sitting on my back seat without the fear of someone wanting to break in and steal them. Theft protection.

And I wouldn't hesitate to put it on my next car. BUT I 100% agree with you on it. It definitely takes some time to get used to and first time I had to back out of the driveway at night was a bit jarring- same for making those 90 degree turns onto streets. I like my 5 percent tint, but I just tinted my tundra 5 percent on the front door windows with factory tint on the back window and rear door windows. I admit that in the day time the front windows block enough sun that you don't notice the difference from outside but you can see really good to reverse. It's also nice to be able to see out of the back and to merge out of the rear windows. It's probably 15 percent factory tint. So I'm thinking that I might tint my wife's car with 5 percent on the side windows and 15 on the rear glass. That way she can always roll the windows down to use her mirrors and see out the back window. It should be plenty dark enough in the sun to not see into the car

    So basically, about 10-15% is what I should get. 5% does seem like it’s a little too much. And 20% doesn’t seem like quite enough. I live in Chicago and we’ve been having hella car jackings/thefts recently and I’ve been thinking about getting tints on my car. The issue is that in Illinois, 35% or more is what’s legal. But 35% does absolutely nothing in my opinion. You really don’t start seeing a difference until you go up to at least 20%. So I think I’ve made my decision.

    I live in Texas where it gets really hot, but since my rig is a lot taller than most other motorist I need to be able to see traffic more than I need to be cold. Just repaired the Ac so it will freeze me out now, so there's that.

    I just had my truck tinted with 15% on the front two windows and 5% tint over 20% factory privacy glass (for 3%) on the rear windows. Windshield remains untinted. Driving around on some country roads at night, I'd say 15% is the absolute darkest you'd want if you do regular night-time driving. My friend has 5% all the way around on his car, besides the windshield and I believe it is too dark for the front windows. I wanted to do 20% on the front windows, but the tint shop I brought it to said they do not offer 20% in nano ceramic and 15% is close enough to 20%.
    Also, the camera does not do the tint justice. Sometimes things may appear lighter on the camera, sometimes they may appear darker. The night after I got my tint installed, I found an incredibly poorly lit parking lot. I wanted to find a completely unlit parking lot, but driivng for 20 minutes I couldn't find one, and tried recording me backing into spaces with the windows up. While I could see my white LED reverse lights and my brake lights in my mirror, the camera did not pick it up at all.

There’s many nights in the fall and winter it can get misty and foggy and be very difficult to see without tint. I don’t want to miss an animal on the side of the road. However, I do want some heat block. So, 35% is probably good for me - probably all the way around, except for nothing on the windshield. @@tednielsen5271 you can add another layer of tint to make it darker. Add 50% and you get somewhere around 17.5% equivalent. I was going to add 20% to my 35% to my previous because 35% wasn’t enough but ended up selling it. It would equal something like 7%. Going with 20% all around on my next car and possibly 35% on windshield

    Glad to have seen this informative video. I have debated on getting 5% tint due to bright sun & bright headlights at night. I ended up having 20% rear windshield/windows & 15% driver side & front passenger side. Excellent choice. I drove work tonight & it looked visible in all areas while driving & dark at night when parked. Thanks again!

      You are the only person I have ever heard of to go darker in the front then the back lol... that doesn't really make much sense

    Oh heck no, I got 20% all around on my 98 mustang and it was not dark enough for me at night or in the day I regretted it ever since and will now tint my new 2017 mustang 5%. I won’t go any lighter, not dark enough for me.

    Should have turned off headlight at some points to accurately compare tinted sides windows and untinted windshield.

    I love my 5% tint. Super hard at times as I live in bfe and the back roads are super curvy but I use my emergency break more than I should. But I don’t even care. It’s so much fun
