MN cop here. I could care less about tint as long as people roll the window down when I walk up (granted you just left so you couldn't). Here legally all you can go is 50 with nothing on the windshield. Windshield is a safety issue passed a certain point with driving at night and your insurance can screw you for it if you are in an accident.
As far as rollin 3 deep on a tint stop is simply opening your door. That's pretty standard. Opening the door like that is consistent with running on foot, fighting the cop on approach, hoping out with a gun and start shooting. Doesnt happen all the time but we have to think about the one and a million time it does.
I reccomend getting a prescription from an eye doctor (make it legit cause some guys do check) if you wanna go darker then legal amount in your state. And like 70 at the most for whole windshield (again night safety and insurance) or do a brow.

Tint your driver and passenger windows first, wait 1 week to tint your windshield that way you're able to roll down your windows when you see a cop and the windshield tint wont be as noticeable.

In my state you can only get a strip that covers half the window in the front. With that tint on the front windshield you're going to keep getting pulled over and then they're going to look at your side tint because you got the front tinted. If you didn't have the front thinning you get pulled over less even though your side is tinted too dark.

I think the windshield is what got you pulled over it's illegal in all states. If the windshield is not tinted it allows light in which will make the other windows look a bit lighter than they are. I just always go dark as I can but still be legal not my favorite but still looks pretty good and helps keep the heat and light out.

That’s when you tint you’re windows and if you get Pulled over simply lock the doors behind you when you get out and do no consent to a search. They cannot use a tiny meter on a locked car. Tickets mean nothing and can be taken to court.

Anyone who tints their front windshield is just looking to be SUED IN COURT by the pedestrian that you run over because you can't see them. As far as I know it's illegal everywhere. Plus your back and rear already had factory tinted glass already same as my truck. Dude, that sucks! I know this is an older video, but this is literally my fear too after I get them done. I'm going to purposely avoid one of the towns I know that tends to pull people over for their tint, at least for the first few days. After that, I'll probably just be living on borrowed time, but hopefully I won't get stopped for it. Honestly, it sounded like he was cutting you a break though at least for your front two windows. I think he was just more concerned about the dark windshield, as it seems with most police stops for tint these days. I even think having a dark brow is asking for a stop, because if an officer is coming towards you, he'll see that and automatically be drawn to the front side windows IMO. Even me, as a car guy, that's exactly what I do because I know if I see that, the sides are tinted too, and likely below the legal limit. I've historically gone 1 step below the legal limit wherever I've lived and it's fared well for me. This time, I'm going 2 steps below, so we'll see what happens. I need to get my fronts redone after owning my truck for 7 years, the passenger side is bubbling somewhat, so this is how I found your video. If I do ever go with the windshield, I probably won't go any darker than 50%, just to play it safe.

Just did my truck this weekend myself. 20% front windows, back door windows were 20% stock and rear window I need to redo someone got it done with crappy tint and used windex or chemical glass cleaner on it and its gone kinda purple ish. Nothing on my windshield we can't do that in Canada at all even my front side windows I'll get grief but I've done every truck I've ever had and I work have it any other way. Yes 20% on the front windows was probably a bad idea but I love it. I absolutely agree it feels amazing, totally personalizes the vehicle feeling and just so much cooler in the 90-100° summer's we have here in Kelowna and the privacy factor is huge I love it. I do want to do a brow on my windshield soon here.
My son just got a$164 ticket for illegal tint. Funny thing is it tests legal according to Illinois law. I had a professional shop do it. No way to fight it in court. No court date, pay by date due only. BS! It's not coming off! IT'S LEGAL! I had my city police department test it also. LEGAL!
My nephews an officer, my ex wife's dad was an officer, and one of my best friends from school is an officer. They talk about this stuff literally all the time. Tint is an easy revenue ticket. It's also an easy probable cause for them to find out about you. And its usually a no hassle for the officer.

You may want to look into the "window tint medical exemption" form...not sure what the regulations are for Alabama but in Fliorida I signed up for it got it signed by my doc and I got my exemption for my truck. Keep up the good work...

Officer MustardMan incorrect, you can get a physician to sign off and show it to the department of safety in your state, and depending where you live you can get the entire windshield down to 25% or so.

The side and back glass you can get below the legal limit of state standards with an Optometrist prescription. The windshield is a federal law. Not state law. Its for Insurance purposes.. Show me where a Dr note will allow the front glass to be tinted. Especially down to (25%).. Ive had 20% before and its Damn near impossible to see out of at night. SMH

i had 20% all around on my single cab the one in my account photo got pulled over for it in Ct you have to get it inspected and they put a sticker inside of the tint when its legal. 35% if max for front side windows and nothing on the windshield past the as1 line.

It's worse here in California. No tint at all allowed on the fronts, only a visor strip at the top of the windshield. Should use 80% on the windshield. If offers protection from heat/UV only. It's only gonna get worse for you, with giant wheels and tires and that big ole exhaust hanging out the back. FYI You will have to have it removed, then written off and pay the fine

If you have to remove it get 50% on shield after this. Light enough to show the dash but dark enough to hide you. That should get you by. When it rains though it does look like 35%. Your dark interior will help it look a little darker too.

I lived in AZ. and the law was front side windows must allow more than 33% of light in. The back side windows and rear window, any darkness can be used. This of course is because the weather in AZ gets extremely hot not mention the interior damage caused by the sun. People living in a more moderate climate and use this type of tinting is for appearance only and are subject to their state laws.

I remember back in high school when my car broke down and my mom let me use her Yukon to go get food for everyone and she had really dark tint and I couldn't see a damn thing (it was night time) so I never understood why people liked really dark tint but to each their own I guess

You cant have your windshield tinted below the as1 line. Doesn't matter what your Dr writes.. Its a federal law!!

Tough luck. I've had my windshield tinted for about a year now and not a single issue...*knock on wood*. Seems like if he solely pulled you over for your tint that close to the shop, he probably waits there regularly and catches people as soon as they leave.
