Little known fact. License plates are designed to reflect the 904 nm light range so that lidar can accurately reflect the beam without major dispersion of the beam. Take a block of 220 grit sandpaper and sand the layer of reflective paint off....reinstall the plate and park your car next to someone way down the street and hit the plates with a green laser beam and be amazed at the difference. Every little bit helps
Covering or modifying a plate is illegal. Its a huge issue in CA for toll evasion and plate reader evasion. CHP is getting aggressive about plate modifications and I expect legislation soon to increase the penalties for plate modifications.

Here in Texas I've had cops stare at my truck (no front plate and 15% front) Granted I follow the rest of the rules of the road so maybe that helps lol but not been pulled over in over 5 years
Good video thanks. I was pulled over twice yesterday within three hours by a sheriff then a state trooper. I bought the vehicle about two months ago already tinted so I got a verbal warning both times, I played it off as I did not know the windshield was tinted. At first I did not like the tinted windshield and now I like it but I guess I will remove it ASAP.
I live in SoCal, I went through the is crap 15 years ago and sadly it’s just got worse. I finally gave up. I had a WRX in high school, I had mods I put a lot of hours in, I had cool tint the whole 9 yards. Back then probably still the same now, after the vehicle was 5 years old you had to have smog every 2 yearsThen I’d have to pull my mods, smog it, then if you get pulled over you have to have it inspected and remove it all again. Then they hit me with the front window tint. I finally gave up as the years went on. The amount of money and work you put into something and then your basically just walking into head ache after headache. And they know which cars and trucks to look for. If you Tinted a Honda Accord you’d probably never have an issue. I’ve just learned to accept, CA it’s not worth it anymore. I just drive a boring stock truck. With lame clear front windows. But I don’t have to deal with this fix it crap anymore. CA has its flaws no doubt. But overall I still don’t mind it enough to leave.
All you have to do is go to your eye doctor, tell them that when you drive the reflection of the sunlight on your dash hurts your eyes and ask for a paper that allows you to have windshield tint. Then when you get pulled you can just show them the paper and be fine.
Like stated on the video when you installed the tint and license plate wrap, you are asking to get pulled over. Yeah it’s cool but not worth the trouble and hassle. You really got lucky with just fix it tickets someone else would’ve gotten you good.

Honestly, stuff like this is what keeps me from getting a vehicle in any bright colors. Even white and silver makes dark tint stand out too much. Dark grey or black is where it's at, dark tints don't stand out and it doesn't catch anyone's eye, especially at night.
what state is that? in my state, windshield tint is allowed when you give the DMV a doctor's signed form. Dermatologists and ophthalmologist will easily sign them. It will also waive VLT limits for the side/rear windows.

Cali Resident here. I think the type of car makes a big difference. I drive a Tesla Model S with 20%. Never been pulled over knock on wood. I think Luxury vehicles tend to get a pass. It helps I have a sunroof to bring light in and make me more visible when necessary… and the front license plate? Cmon man. 95% of Teslas have no front plate here in CA. Sorry they got you. Check out Mike’s Tint in Orange County. They offer re-tint after tickets for life for a small additional fee.

Most likely due to all the shootings that have been happening in our country over the past number of years. They are checking for mental stability and watching for any signs that the driver lying and any potential threats. That would be my guess.
Both illegal tint and plate modifications have become a huge issue in CA. Primarily as tools for criminal activity. A buddy makes more $ removing tint than he does installing it.
He did do an update video on his window tint ticket. And Mark did admit that it was hard to see out the side windows and that he had to roll them down all the time to see outside. And I'm sure his front windshield was hard to see out also.

GA only allows 23% with a + or - 3% with a medical exemption. Normally it’s 33% plus or minus 3%

Both illegal tint and plate modifications have become a huge issue in CA. Primarily as tools for criminal activity. A buddy makes more $ removing tint than he does installing it.

He did do an update video on his window tint ticket. And Mark did admit that it was hard to see out the side windows and that he had to roll them down all the time to see outside. And I'm sure his front windshield was hard to see out also.

Gotcha, mine is 35% on the windshield and matches the rear windows for the front doors. NO need for limo tint.

@@x3dominator28I do 5 on the rear windshield, 15 on rear side, 55 front side, 70 front windshield. My reason for front tints are heat rejection, so I try to get good heat rejection through the front windshield and hopefully it doesn’t catch a cop’s eye.

Once he said cali I was like ….enough said BUUTT dude have your paperwork together and if you do something EVERY state makes clear like window tint you CAN actually get a Dr to get a special document for blocking UV rays from damaging your eyes, I had a kid in high school who had permission but it wasn’t dark it was a reflective type.
