Stupid, overused line that doesn't apply to Jeribloat.
      Blunt and honest take:
Jericho's poor work as of late would be forgiven for his status as a legend alone. But he has exposed himself as a pretty unsavoury person on numerous occasions, be it on social media or through his own trifling behaviour catching himself out (see KOTR 2002) so people aren't willing to make excuses for any of it.

Jericho can't give up the attention. He talked about the Undertaker once being the Madonna of wrestling as he keeps changing his gimmick to stay fresh. Jericho thinks he is doing the same in AEW but doesn't realize that when Taker did that, he was always still Taker - the essence of the character was always the same. That's not happening with Jericho, he keeps changing and changing and grabbing anything even when it doesn't fit. In 5 years he has had how many different personas there, it's silly already.

The number to pay attention to in the ratings for Jericho is the segment directly following him. Same with the Bucks segments. They're always WAY down because they drive viewers away. Same as to get the true overall viewership average, only count segments 2-8 and ignore the first segment and the overrun because those numbers are artificially boosted by the shows that precede and succeed Dynamite

I miss Lionheart era Chris Jericho. He had a great look and could really work in the 90s and 00s, often going the distance with greats like Curt Hennig.
But, Chris has really let himself go physically. It's as bad as watching young Undertaker vs. old Undertaker or Surfer Sting vs. Crow Sting.
Now Chris seems to be where Big Show was in WWE--somehow too accomplished to be where he is but too far past his prime to be relevant.
Chris also seems to polarize people on his Twitter account, but I don't know if this is really how he is or if he is just drawing heat.
I'm a musician and heavy metal fan, and I find Chris to be a great singer (even if I don't like his band). He's also an enjoyable personality on podcasts and funny in shoot interviews. I'd definitely buy him a beer. I'm not sure why things seem to have changed so much lately with the fan base.
I don't know if he has overstayed his welcome in the ring as much as he still has more to offer if he would just wrestle selectively for someone his age and take better care of himself.
As far as AEW matches not telling stories, one thing I miss about the kayfabe era was having matches simply to have matches--in storyline to determine number 1 contender spots for title matches. I remember seeing matches like this on daytime TV on ESPN in the 80s and early 90s--maybe it was old AWA stuff.
Booking matches this way (matches without a story) makes wrestling seem more like an unscripted athletic contest and less like sports entertainment--something I prefer.
Great gimmicks and angles should result from these "matches just to have matches." Maybe a rivalry develops that wasn't anticipated. Maybe something could develop where chasing the belt isn't even the point.
Matches simply for entertainment are a great way to see what works before spinning them into deeper angles, gimmicks, promos, and storylines.
I suppose in the old days this was left to house shows, dark matches, and squash matches with enhancement talent. I think they should bring some of this back to televised product and not make every TV show every week a mini pay-per-view.
Upper card talent wrestling for high stakes every show robs each match of its impact. It's as bad as I quit matches or characters dying in comic books. You know it isn't going to be permanent.

I fast forward when he's on. Last weeks show had him in a segment with Private Party. I love Private Party, but I skipped it because I just can't with his stuff anymore. I don't find it entertaining at all. I don't want to see somebody beat him up, I don't want to see him at all.
The week before last he kept appearing through out the show and when I realized that wasn't going to stop, I just turned it off. I'm not going to put it up with multiple segments with him. One is bad enough.

Jericho said in the Monday Night War DVD that guys like Hogan,Nash, Scott Hall, wouldn't let the younger guys shine and complain about the older guys taking younger guys spots away....And that wcw and WWE were like the Wizard Of Oz...You go to WCW it's black in white then you go to WWE it's color.
He is a hypocrite...he is now a older veteran taking spots away and being shoved down everyones throats...I love Chris Jericho when I was younger as a teenager and in my 20's, and he is one of the greatest wrestlers ever but he has become so cringe nowadays.
His stock has fallen and he isn't a big draw like he used to be anymore.

I have never been a fan of Jerichos although when he debuted with the WWF he was pretty entertaining and he's had some great matches throughout the years.
The only reason I want him to keep on wrestling is because it gives him less time to focus on and create his absolutely horrendous music. I would genuinely rather listen to him read out a list of wrestling holds than his crappy plagiarised "playing rockstar" music.
I think Jericho has the Ric Flair disorder where he can't separate his wrestling persona with reality.

People use to praise Jericho for constantly re-inventing himself but I always thought it was garbage because it was more like he could only keep people interested in something for a short while and now that he has exhausted every half-decent idea he's ever had, he's being exposed as simply not very compelling. The last few years have reeked of desperation but for me it's been much longer. I haven't really liked anything from him since his conspiracy victim phase in WCW.

Tony is trying to redefine what pro wrestling is built on...story. Since last year in the fall, he shifted the company to a new Japan super match focus show..and the ratings have tanked since. The guy simply isn't learning from his mistakes. And then with him saying he books for the sickos like him..smh..good luck with that ling term smh. Heck...TNA puts in a better show than aew. There is a direction with how they are doing things booking wise. TNA just need a bigger platform to get more eyes on the show like it's heyday in the mid to late 2000s

I think many want him to go because he has a problem passing the torch. And putting people over. And whoever he faces he makes them look worse in the end. And this didn't really start until about his first year in AEW. Jim Cornette says he has become a leech. Because he sees a new star rising and he has to get involved. Just the fact he faced Orange Cassidy. I can't stand Orange Cassidy. He does fake kicks on purpose and expects people to react to that. And I don't get what people see in the fake kicks. I am not talking about kicking someone and missing. And when someone is attacking him he puts his hands in his pockets? Who does that in a fight?

Changing your gimmick doesn't do any good when you can't really go in the ring anymore. He still wants to do wcw jericho stuff and he can barely run the ropes anymore.
And, like what has been stated, everyone is just tired of him. If he wants to be relevant then he needs to do so being a learning tree backstage. He doesn't need to be taking up time from folks who can actually use it.

This gimmick sucks. People just don't want to see him. They see a dude booking himself into shot because he can but they think he sucks. It doesn't work. If he did a loser leaves AEW match where he loses to a qualified up and comer, that would work. He needs to find a guy to retire him or go to the fucking gym.

James is way too quick to lump many of us in with the twitter nuts just because we aren't creaming our pants over Jericho. It isn't the Kylie Rae thing people are upset about, it is his embarrassing and cringy behaviour plus the fact he can't go like he vould anymore. You and people with your take have been very disingenuous trying to present people and their good faith opinions as something they aren't.
Newsflash pal, many of us hated him BEFORE that, based on both his poor portfolio of work in thr last several years, and for his embarrassing conduct which has put us off him.
And it is vompletely untrue to say he gains viewers without analysing the numbers. What came before and after him? Where abouts was he positioned on the show? And traditionally he has driven the viewers off at least in the past two years. Just because you mighr have seen an eposide breakdoen here or there doesn't mean you can make the statements you made with such little basis. You put yourself on a wrung above the ninny wrestling fans who know the most obscure sh*t, but it is no less laughable to lack the knowledge you do.
We could discuss the fact you're doing a podcast with Dutch and bring up modern day topics yet you know SFA about it, less so than Dutch with his ripe old age and health problems. I dont think we should be so quick to judge should we?
    All I'm saying.

The more I see Jericho these days, every time I see him, the less I ever want to ever see him again. And I don't see him often cause I don't watch AEW weekly. I don't even watch it monthly. But any time I am unfortunate enough to see Chris Jericho do something, be it tv or Twitter or whatever, I'm reminded what a fat, washed up old alcoholic he has turned into. Especially on Twitter. He ain't tweeting sober. He's just like Ric Flair. He can't accept that his best years are behind him, he can't accept that his good years are behind him, he can't accept that his acceptable years are behind him. He looks bad, his matches are bad, even his promos are just obnoxious and unbearable, not in a heel way, just in a "Oh god I don't wanna hear this guy bloviate anymore, I'm fast forwarding or changing the channel." And promos used to be his thing! Everything he touches gets worse. He just latches onto young guys, saps their heat and then moves onto the next guy.

Oh no, this wasn’t the best outtake on the whole Jericho thing. He HAS GO AWAY HEAT, there’s NOTHING entertaining about any of his cheap shit. Gotta disagree with both of you, Jericho needs to go away for at least a year. Not to mention that he takes away from talent he interacts with, he hooks himself onto them. Not sure how you can ignore that 🤷🏻‍♂️

Even if someone is the greatest ever that doesn't mean _everything_ they do will be great. There's no demo that will make themselves sound more stupid by just inventing things to complain about than wrestling fans who have some strange urge to criticize wrestling fans for no reason.
