Jericho used to complain about guys like Hogan. Now he's become Hogan.
For real
No he's never been as big or will never be as over as Hogan. This was evident at WrestleMania 18. His best bet is to run his contract out and make a surprise return in WWE. With all due respect, what he's doing now is the worst thing I've ever seen any wrestling show allow so much time for, it's the uknowwuts
Hogan actually put some people over brother, Jericho is just out for himself and always has been.
@@jobangles3677 I meant the lying, burying, and awful booking parts
@@InvisibleHotdog no wrestler is batting 💯. He probably did all those things, along with every top guy ever
Jericho outstayed his welcome back in the MJF feud
MJF never fully recovered
Agreed, Dude needs to retire.
You either die a hero, or live long enough to become a villain.
Stupid, overused line that doesn't apply to Jeribloat.
Blunt and honest take:
Jericho's poor work as of late would be forgiven for his status as a legend alone. But he has exposed himself as a pretty unsavoury person on numerous occasions, be it on social media or through his own trifling behaviour catching himself out (see KOTR 2002) so people aren't willing to make excuses for any of it.
Why you all lyin'? 😂
@@ButWhatIfItIs I don't care about any of that behind the scenes stuff.
Dont be so sensitive 😂@@ButWhatIfItIs
Lame quote.
No one comes out better after a feud with him
That was evident after Dean Malenko
@@sawtooth808 😂😂 damn you went way back
Entertaining to hear Dutch when he's on solid ground. He's often hazy and vague about revisiting some minor detail from 30 years ago, but when the subject is tactics and psychology he remains very clear and definite in his opinions.
The problem is that when they have a little left in the tank, they don’t know when to stop. Before they know it, they have nothing left in the tank and the fans turn on them. He had his time he just can’t seem to let go of the spotlight.
I still can’t believe TK resigned him to a 10 year contract
Constantly reinventing yourself is in itself, a tiresome gimmick
Especially when the reinvention comes from a mind like Jericho's. He's not exactly a master of gimmicks and angles, and that's putting it mildly.
@@Blueswailer Jericho is most definitely a master of gimmicks and angles, but there's a point where you overdo it, and he's beyond that point.
@@fixpacifica We have vastly different definitions on the word "Master" in that case.
@@Blueswailer The guy has been around for a long time, and part of that reason is he keeps successfully reinventing himself.
@@fixpacifica Mm-hm. Success in reinvention is relative to today's audience though, as well as the term "Master" being subjective in this exchange. Tacking yourself onto newer talent(an in some cases diminishing them doing so) isn't a succesful reinvention in my book, it's tacking onto someone.
I love how Dutch always pauses the conversation to acknowledge when an unconventional word is used 😂
I'll pull a good word out my ass every once in awhile and everybody's like, did you go back to school or something 😏
Jericho can't give up the attention. He talked about the Undertaker once being the Madonna of wrestling as he keeps changing his gimmick to stay fresh. Jericho thinks he is doing the same in AEW but doesn't realize that when Taker did that, he was always still Taker - the essence of the character was always the same. That's not happening with Jericho, he keeps changing and changing and grabbing anything even when it doesn't fit. In 5 years he has had how many different personas there, it's silly already.
Jericho: I'll be metallica!
Now I'll be nirvana!
Now I'm korn!
"how can we miss you if you don't go away" Jim Cornette
The trouble with saying that about Jericho, at least for me, is that I won’t miss him! 😂
The problem with ‘leaning into’ all of the fans’ chants, is that it just makes me want him to go.
I don’t want to see anyone bash the granny out if him; I’d sooner he just left quietly and did something else.
I think Impact is more entertaining than AEW lately.
Ya and they are selling arenas, they still do some cheesy things like the Hardy compound. But overall they have a lot of wrestlers who have their own story and personality. If Moose was in AEW he will be having competitive match with Pockets. Someone needs to tell TK to stop listening to Jericho and Bucks.
@@AnnoyedRocket-ep6dn Let's confront him together.
Its one thing to look like a star when Vince is pushing you. It's another when you must bet on yourself.
People may have already forgotten, but about 5 years ago many people were saying Jericho was the goat. His stuff with Kevin Owens and his match with Kenny Omega were highly acclaimed. He should’ve just retired then. Crazy how fast the tide has turned
He'd make a great manager. Can't imagine how hard it would be to let go though.
Outstayed his welcome? By at least 30 years.
Nah he was good when he was controlled and was treated like a bitch by vince
I don't even think he was in WCW 30 years ago
1994, he was in SMW and NJPW
@@josephnicolino8529 thank you i was wondering about that
@@petebagwell6666 seemed like Vince knew how to control him and not let his ego go out of control, Khan just enabled him
The number to pay attention to in the ratings for Jericho is the segment directly following him. Same with the Bucks segments. They're always WAY down because they drive viewers away. Same as to get the true overall viewership average, only count segments 2-8 and ignore the first segment and the overrun because those numbers are artificially boosted by the shows that precede and succeed Dynamite
James is quite lazya Nd arrogant when it comes to anything modern wrestling related, which would be fine if he wasn't co-hosting a podcast and talking about a third of the time about modern wrestling. He wears his lack of knowledge like a superiority badge 📛
Jericho is to AEW what Ric Flair is to TNA.
Jericho in the early 2000s was cool, Jericho now is the drizzling shits.
Good on Dutxh calling out obsequious - attentive or obedient to an excessive degree.
Brown-nosing.
He's become JericHogan.
Was thinking the same, I just don't want to see him.
if only Fozzy was doing a summer tour?
At this point , WOW is more entertaining and better booked than AEW …
I miss Lionheart era Chris Jericho. He had a great look and could really work in the 90s and 00s, often going the distance with greats like Curt Hennig.
But, Chris has really let himself go physically. It's as bad as watching young Undertaker vs. old Undertaker or Surfer Sting vs. Crow Sting.
Now Chris seems to be where Big Show was in WWE--somehow too accomplished to be where he is but too far past his prime to be relevant.
Chris also seems to polarize people on his Twitter account, but I don't know if this is really how he is or if he is just drawing heat.
I'm a musician and heavy metal fan, and I find Chris to be a great singer (even if I don't like his band). He's also an enjoyable personality on podcasts and funny in shoot interviews. I'd definitely buy him a beer. I'm not sure why things seem to have changed so much lately with the fan base.
I don't know if he has overstayed his welcome in the ring as much as he still has more to offer if he would just wrestle selectively for someone his age and take better care of himself.
As far as AEW matches not telling stories, one thing I miss about the kayfabe era was having matches simply to have matches--in storyline to determine number 1 contender spots for title matches. I remember seeing matches like this on daytime TV on ESPN in the 80s and early 90s--maybe it was old AWA stuff.
Booking matches this way (matches without a story) makes wrestling seem more like an unscripted athletic contest and less like sports entertainment--something I prefer.
Great gimmicks and angles should result from these "matches just to have matches." Maybe a rivalry develops that wasn't anticipated. Maybe something could develop where chasing the belt isn't even the point.
Matches simply for entertainment are a great way to see what works before spinning them into deeper angles, gimmicks, promos, and storylines.
I suppose in the old days this was left to house shows, dark matches, and squash matches with enhancement talent. I think they should bring some of this back to televised product and not make every TV show every week a mini pay-per-view.
Upper card talent wrestling for high stakes every show robs each match of its impact. It's as bad as I quit matches or characters dying in comic books. You know it isn't going to be permanent.
I’m waiting for Jericho to come out with a country album!😂
Aew is like a cheer leading competition
He’s outstayed his eviction 😂
Yes he has by like 5 years.
maybe even more
Jericho has pretty much been doing the same gimmick since the start of AEW under different guises.
Jericho put himself on the list...
Jericho’s learning tree gimmick is tough to watch. It stinks.
💯
Dutch:
“AEW is lost, none of their segments make sense.”
Also Dutch:
“I don’t even watch the show!”
He ain’t fucking helping that’s for sure.
Poor guy is addicted to the spotlight.
And vodka
I can't knock him for that, I drink too
@@mooncalfmcfresh9614addiction is different from enjoying
Jericho is the nWo 2000 at this point.
At the end of the day it comes down to booking.
Yep😢😢
Bryan Alvarez thinks this gimmick is wonderful. It always either him or his boss, Dave, that prove to be shills or goofs.
Jericho didnt understand hogan til he became hogan
"Not like Diamond Dallas Page is like this." No, he's just that guy that makes any and every conversation an upsell for his yoga program that can take you from a 400 pound paraplegic to a marathon runner in 6 months. Seriously, I have no doubt it helped some people, but watch the resurrection of Jake the Snake and it's a 45 minute infomercial for DDP Yoga. Or watch DDP shoot on Hulk Hogan. It's a 4 minute clip and DDP spends the first 30 seconds talking about Hogan, and by the end he's talking about "that's why I push my stuff so hard, because it works."
Jeribloat is one of several reasons I haven't been able to tolerate AEW for well over a year.
Dude, the ratings are 500000
I feel Jericho is better going back to the Le champion and the Inner Circle faction gimmick .. even though the original members of the Inner circle are now gone though... and noted some fans thought that it was going stale .. but yeah I liked it..
With Jericho, he can't go like he used to and his matches suffer and make him look bad in the ring. His gimmicks also don't hit the mark like they used to be. He has feuds with guys on there but nobody ends up better out of it.
The best thing Jericho can do is take a break, go away for awhile, then come back.
AEW will always be a second-rate company as long as Tony is the booker. His booking is the shits, and only a few people have any type of storyline.
It's so sad, cause this was a chance to do something great, and Tony messed it up 8 ways to sundown
He can stay forever, in my heart.
Haha ya as y2j from 1999.
buddy mathews now injured and dax
There was no "but" needed; Jericho has out stayed his welcome.
Time for him to be a manager / producer
I feel like the clip started with Dutch hating the gimmick and then he talked himself into liking it 😂
He sure has
Jericho needs to return to WWE or go to TNA and get back into shape
jericho is in a badass shape for a 53 year old, he looks bloated & wwe wouldn't hire him when there is moose joe hendry david finlay ricky starks hook zilla fatu & many more talents
There’s an opportunity to capitalize on this with a good storyline. Someone like a Jay Lethal could make hay by pushing Jericho into a feud by trying to retire him. That also fits Lethal’s modus operandi.
Yes
Sometimes I truly wonder if people know that Chris Jericho has been doing this for 34 years.
I understand that AEW has a boatload of injuries across the board and some guys can go months without being on TV but AEW really just feels so directionless right now. Tony Khan is totally to blame for the lackluster creative in AEW.
As far as Jericho is concerned, when his feud w/Hook is over he needs to take at least a 6 - 12 month break. The time TK has wasted with Jericho could have been used for Adam Page or Ricky Starks.
Jericho has been cringe for a while and you know it.
Obsequious means being overly nice to a servile degree.
Aka brown nosing 😂
How can anyone miss him if he doesn't go away?
You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
Chris has passed the hero stage and is just in the villainous monologuing stage.
Pretty soon he will get facial hair and a twirling mustache.
He should stop performing and get in a commentary chair.
I think Jericho is trying to be more like a Tony Robbins
Dude just needs too retire his last decent year was his 1st year in AEW everything else is embarrassing
Jericho definitely needs to lay low for a while. Use the time to get in better shape and take care of whatever legal shit that he's blamed for. Then when the crowd starts clamoring for him again, THEN come back.
How can we miss him if he wont go away?
only fickle people would say this
@@kyleday5026only people who like entertainment say that. He wasn't very good ever. That's why he always needed to leave and come back
@@kyleday5026I always love that argument "well a vote for that guy is a vote for a loser".
Yeah well anyone who is friends with you picks their nose and has a cr*CK addiction.
Two can play that game little buddy 💀
The money he's getting paid is fueling his ego that people want to see him I believe.
It is X
I could use a y2j break
Is this a rhetorical question?
I'm sorry but social media does matter in this day and age. WWE changed the main event of WrestleMania because of social media.
he's has
Chris Jericho is acting as a Vail if you will. When he leaves people will see all the great talent in AEW
I fast forward when he's on. Last weeks show had him in a segment with Private Party. I love Private Party, but I skipped it because I just can't with his stuff anymore. I don't find it entertaining at all. I don't want to see somebody beat him up, I don't want to see him at all.
The week before last he kept appearing through out the show and when I realized that wasn't going to stop, I just turned it off. I'm not going to put it up with multiple segments with him. One is bad enough.
Jericho said in the Monday Night War DVD that guys like Hogan,Nash, Scott Hall, wouldn't let the younger guys shine and complain about the older guys taking younger guys spots away....And that wcw and WWE were like the Wizard Of Oz...You go to WCW it's black in white then you go to WWE it's color.
He is a hypocrite...he is now a older veteran taking spots away and being shoved down everyones throats...I love Chris Jericho when I was younger as a teenager and in my 20's, and he is one of the greatest wrestlers ever but he has become so cringe nowadays.
His stock has fallen and he isn't a big draw like he used to be anymore.
He
His welcome at AEW or A&W?
I have never been a fan of Jerichos although when he debuted with the WWF he was pretty entertaining and he's had some great matches throughout the years.
The only reason I want him to keep on wrestling is because it gives him less time to focus on and create his absolutely horrendous music. I would genuinely rather listen to him read out a list of wrestling holds than his crappy plagiarised "playing rockstar" music.
I think Jericho has the Ric Flair disorder where he can't separate his wrestling persona with reality.
Obsequious means acting like someone is superior to you and act like a servant towards that person.
People use to praise Jericho for constantly re-inventing himself but I always thought it was garbage because it was more like he could only keep people interested in something for a short while and now that he has exhausted every half-decent idea he's ever had, he's being exposed as simply not very compelling. The last few years have reeked of desperation but for me it's been much longer. I haven't really liked anything from him since his conspiracy victim phase in WCW.
He has one bad self serving idea after another.
Jericho could try one of those old 70s things Gene Gene the dancing machine that'll get some laughs😂😂😂😂😂😂
No lol.
People are biting on his work
If AEW had a young heel beat Jericho down bad like an injury angle bad have him off TV for 3 to 6 months bring him back with Judas music he might be able to salvage this run.
Tony is trying to redefine what pro wrestling is built on...story. Since last year in the fall, he shifted the company to a new Japan super match focus show..and the ratings have tanked since. The guy simply isn't learning from his mistakes. And then with him saying he books for the sickos like him..smh..good luck with that ling term smh. Heck...TNA puts in a better show than aew. There is a direction with how they are doing things booking wise. TNA just need a bigger platform to get more eyes on the show like it's heyday in the mid to late 2000s
The problem is Jericho is changing his gimmick he's not changing his style of wrestling, he's too old to do some of the moves he used to do and needs to accept that
Chunky, 🐷🥞
I think many want him to go because he has a problem passing the torch. And putting people over. And whoever he faces he makes them look worse in the end. And this didn't really start until about his first year in AEW. Jim Cornette says he has become a leech. Because he sees a new star rising and he has to get involved. Just the fact he faced Orange Cassidy. I can't stand Orange Cassidy. He does fake kicks on purpose and expects people to react to that. And I don't get what people see in the fake kicks. I am not talking about kicking someone and missing. And when someone is attacking him he puts his hands in his pockets? Who does that in a fight?
There are a ton of things pro wrestlers do that you don't do in a real fight so that's kind on an odd thing to care about.
Jericho needs to retire. He has nothing else to prove at this point. Just be a manager or commentary. This isn't it anymore. He past his prime it's like Ric Flair in the early 2000's gotta know when to call it quits.
It's almost like he's trolling wrestling fans for his own sick sense of humor.
And he is a leaching off the up and coming talent that's making a impact and he thinks it's all because of him he uses them to stay relevant it's getting really boring it's like flair they won't go away the just suck the life out the business and I do change the channel when he comes on. It the same thing with a different costume .
this latest gimmick was over the day it debuted!!!
Changing your gimmick doesn't do any good when you can't really go in the ring anymore. He still wants to do wcw jericho stuff and he can barely run the ropes anymore.
And, like what has been stated, everyone is just tired of him. If he wants to be relevant then he needs to do so being a learning tree backstage. He doesn't need to be taking up time from folks who can actually use it.
Of all the stupid shit AEW has going on, people think the veteran star in a sea of nobodies is the problem. I dont get it.
Jericho just needs to go away for a long time, dude's been hogging the spotlight since AEW started.
This gimmick sucks. People just don't want to see him. They see a dude booking himself into shot because he can but they think he sucks. It doesn't work. If he did a loser leaves AEW match where he loses to a qualified up and comer, that would work. He needs to find a guy to retire him or go to the fucking gym.
James is way too quick to lump many of us in with the twitter nuts just because we aren't creaming our pants over Jericho. It isn't the Kylie Rae thing people are upset about, it is his embarrassing and cringy behaviour plus the fact he can't go like he vould anymore. You and people with your take have been very disingenuous trying to present people and their good faith opinions as something they aren't.
Newsflash pal, many of us hated him BEFORE that, based on both his poor portfolio of work in thr last several years, and for his embarrassing conduct which has put us off him.
And it is vompletely untrue to say he gains viewers without analysing the numbers. What came before and after him? Where abouts was he positioned on the show? And traditionally he has driven the viewers off at least in the past two years. Just because you mighr have seen an eposide breakdoen here or there doesn't mean you can make the statements you made with such little basis. You put yourself on a wrung above the ninny wrestling fans who know the most obscure sh*t, but it is no less laughable to lack the knowledge you do.
We could discuss the fact you're doing a podcast with Dutch and bring up modern day topics yet you know SFA about it, less so than Dutch with his ripe old age and health problems. I dont think we should be so quick to judge should we?
All I'm saying.
The more I see Jericho these days, every time I see him, the less I ever want to ever see him again. And I don't see him often cause I don't watch AEW weekly. I don't even watch it monthly. But any time I am unfortunate enough to see Chris Jericho do something, be it tv or Twitter or whatever, I'm reminded what a fat, washed up old alcoholic he has turned into. Especially on Twitter. He ain't tweeting sober. He's just like Ric Flair. He can't accept that his best years are behind him, he can't accept that his good years are behind him, he can't accept that his acceptable years are behind him. He looks bad, his matches are bad, even his promos are just obnoxious and unbearable, not in a heel way, just in a "Oh god I don't wanna hear this guy bloviate anymore, I'm fast forwarding or changing the channel." And promos used to be his thing! Everything he touches gets worse. He just latches onto young guys, saps their heat and then moves onto the next guy.
Oh no, this wasn’t the best outtake on the whole Jericho thing. He HAS GO AWAY HEAT, there’s NOTHING entertaining about any of his cheap shit. Gotta disagree with both of you, Jericho needs to go away for at least a year. Not to mention that he takes away from talent he interacts with, he hooks himself onto them. Not sure how you can ignore that 🤷🏻♂️
Jericho rip off positively kanyon
Dutch is on the money. AEW is unwatchable
He needs to retire for real.
Jericho still has a decent mind, but the body is no longer willing. To be a success in wrestling you have to wrestle, and at his age with his knees and worn-out physique, he just can't cut it anymore.
Decent mind? lol no
The same people a couple years ago that were calling Jericho the greatest ever, are now telling him he’s washed up & hasn’t been good in *insert arbitrary number here.* There’s no demo more dishonest & fickle than the wrestling fan. More dishonest than a gold digger
Even if someone is the greatest ever that doesn't mean _everything_ they do will be great. There's no demo that will make themselves sound more stupid by just inventing things to complain about than wrestling fans who have some strange urge to criticize wrestling fans for no reason.
