the water video with the jar is just an example of surface tension. We do it every year at work for the local science fair. Very real. . . . pretty cool. We share it along with the diving bell spider that can "walk on water". Same principle.

    • @Diogenes2077

Really just surface tension? I'd rather describe it as a demonstration of air pressure vs vacuum or rather negative pressure.

That retention vanish was sick. In the frame-by-frame, the last glimmer off the coin makes the slight "flash" of the steal (if you can call it a flash) look as if it's just the last glimpse of the dull part of the coin. 13:22 The idea that a thing should only float for a half a second and any longer ruins the magic, or something along those lines, reminds me of something I read many many years ago and haven't been able to find, precisely anyway, about magic that's "too perfect." It was a really interesting thing. Something I always felt intuitively but could never quite put into words when I was younger. Knowing something just isn't possible to do (a-la a lot of Criss Angel's material,) just ruins the entire effect for me, even if it's done well, or if it's still very creative, it's just not "magic" to me anymore at that point.
The people who understand that, and who can design and/or perform effects that perfectly straddle that line are my absolute favorite. Chris and a lot of his friends we see on the channel all seem to have a very intuitive understanding of this concept. I love it.

When you go into the water you create a cavity of space, you put the ball at the right spot and when the water comes back together it makes a big splash and the ball is shot upwards. Use to do this when I was younger. Its a great feeling when you poke you head out of the water and are like where did the ball go, then 5 seconds later you hear it land.

I think I know exactly how that ruler thru piece of glass works. It's exactly like that trick with the round plastic box, where you put a real quarter inside, put the lid on top,the box and lid both have holes, and then you push eight plastic nails through the box,and it looks like they're going through the coin inside! Then, you remove the nails, open the lid,and show the coin is still whole, solid, and fills up most of the inside of the bottom part of the box! When you go to put the first nail in,you put it in on one side, and the nail pushes the coin upwards on it's side, leaving room for the other nails to go thru the box! That's the secret of that trick! The ruler thru the square glass works exactly the same way! Even if the glass is laying on a slit in the middle of the box,it can still be pushed up on it's side by the ruler!

The water in the bottle uses air pressure to keep the water from draining out. As soon as you turn the bottle though, air tries to enter the bottle and it creates a siphoning effect. The water one was most likely two separate densities of water crashing into each other. You can even see the Atlantic and Pacific oceans do this dance too.

These are some of my favourite videos from you. You, as a man who puts in crazy hours of preparation and dedication to your other videos, probably hate this comment, but I love learning from other people’s stories and insights, and reactions are a part of that. (If it’s real, honest and contributes something of substance to the discussion, of course - not ’blow-up sniperwolf looks confused feat. an open orifice’ -type content theft. 😅 )
I’m also an old teacher, and there’s a reason why education is a ’contact sport’ in a way.
