Back when I worked at Sigorski I was getting mixed signals. My dyad told me I was a disappointment and I’d be fired, but my performance reviews all said “super.” Super work ethic, super likability, and super intelligence. Then they fired me! Those MORONS. He thinks it's a contradiction that people dont want him to spend 30 minutes re-re-recapping, while also wanting a Q&A stream? Those are two very different things.
Expecting his audience to cater to what he wants to do instead of him doing what his audience wants to see is peak Phil Burnell.
He's so desperate to clock out while making the same money.
The reason he gets conflicting feedback is because 90+% of his audience are trolls that love to see him confused like a lost kid at the mall. That's the biggest difference between Phil and Wings. At least wings knows most of his audience are trolls that want to fuck with him whereas Phil in his infinite delusions of granDOOOOOOR believes that he has way more fans than he has trolls and that's not the case.
This is just another example of how Phil lacks any ability to think ahead in life. We were all kids once and we all wanted to play video games for a living back then but most of us figured out that our thought process might change as we grew older and matured. So we continued to play video games while also going to school and putting our time and energy into learning an actual profession. This allowed for us to have legitimate options in our own lives whereas he has painted himself into a corner and is now panicking because he is finally starting to realize how his arrogance and laziness has only crippled him in the long run. And I have no sympathy for him whatsoever after all the crap he's pulled over the years.
This is why people need face to face interactions. Phil talking to a camera allows him to talk himself into whatever he wants to believe.
He really sounds like he’s 80 or something. I’ve played videogames for 30 years and don’t have those issues he has. It’s a mix of poor exercise, diet and his gout.

I think about the Machinima stream he did where Phil describes a meeting with Machima employees who are suggesting all these ways to increase his popularity: collabs, commenting on fighting games, a whole bunch of ideas. And DSP just didn't understand why he would do anything more or make any changes.
Phil is the ultimate form of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. He can be constantly relying on fewer and fewer whales for more, but his method worked in the past so he won't change it.
I love how he says "we discussed me getting too old to play games". No, Phil said that, his viewers have never suggested he move in that direction.

I think the "anti-podcast" people aren't always gameplay fanatics. It's more likely that they recognize the podcasting as primarily a time waster and a therapy session. No one wants to see or pay for that.

I wanna point out that this entire time, he's just been talking to no one. Really cementing the fact that he doesnt care what these people think if they aren't giving him money.
In the same video he goes from "I can't game forever, guys." to "I want gaming to always be a part of my content." Make your mind up.
His hands hurt from doing nothing for years. Thats what happens when you turn into a soft man who sits at home all the time.
I think this is pretty simple. He wants to do a podcast and play games less, because his podcast has been bringing in more money. But he is worried that he will lose subs if he does that. So he feigns confusion, gripes about his age and his pain (which is real, I have very minor carpel tunnel from gaming, typing, boxing, etc. and it isn't fun), and primes his audience for the changes he already plans to make. DSP believes that he can talk his audience into consuming whatever he wants them to and to some degree this is true. So we shall see if this is another phase of failure, or if people still give him money despite doing the opposite of what they want him to.
I have never in real life met someone who plays 20 games at a time.
Who does that, who wants to watch that... it seems like the most confusing, boring and stupid way to play video games.
CZcams has mandated content creators make their channels for specific things. I’ve seen this with comic pop having to put their podcast on one channel and their live stream type show on another
I seriously doubt that most people that tune into hear Philip Burnell talk are fans. The people that drop off money for him, like care packages for their shut in neighbor, don't stick around to hear him talk. The people that stick around to watch him game are probably mostly his real fans. Only his most dedicated detractors are mining that garbage for scraps.

His Dragon's Dogma 2 playthrough is going to be boring as hell because his fans are going to be sending him overpowered gear and he's most likely going to steamroll his way through the early game content, which was what happened in his playthrough of the first game.
Although this mainly depends on whether or not your still able to gift weapons and armour to other players pawns that you hire.

The real answer is they're lonely, immature and desperate for attention. Slayer wants Phil to visit Singapore SO BADLY, Derich wants Phil to tuck him in at night. Jayde comes in for the other chatters. All streamer audiences have a Derich or a Slayer but they're usually drowned out by a bigger crowd. Phil's little Empire is tiny by comparison.
Well DSP never kept his health on check. It also doesn't help that he lives in filth. I mean imagine if there is actually some kind of toxic monster hanging out in his closet, garage or even his fridge? His Khando if probably so contaminated to the point that doctors would probably refuse to see him without a hazmat suit...

I can understand wanting to play all these new games coming out if you really wanna play them all... but at some point you have to pick and choose. There's a reason why I wait 6-8 months on games I wanna play buy don't have the time yet... and best thing when I do have the time, they're usually on sale so I get what I want at a discount price... its win-win
At the end of the day, Phil is an adult and husband, and should not be making his own decisions based on what is best for him. Old age aside, most game testers are in their 40s, and they don't use their age as an excuse for not being able to do it anymore. If you love games, you alter your lifestyle to accommodate that love and interest. Phil just wants someone to give him the secret recipe to grift and do less without having to do more or go without grifting.
