    Chelsea are, for the first time in a very long time, in transition. They are under new ownership, have new staff in executive positions and have lost some key players. But their most immediate need is in defence, they need to replace Rudiger, Christensen, and forward plan for the retirement of Thiago Silva. So who should they sign?

    We’re very close to signing Koulibaly as things stand. Anyways I’ve wanted him for years at the bridge..he’s definitely been one of the best CBs in world football for quite sometime now. Also I don’t understand why some fans are still complaining about not getting Koundé..I mean don’t we already have Chalobah? He was solid last season..yes he had a few moments here and there but let’s not forget it was his first senior season in the prem. Great call on this being the time to build for a back 4 and Koulibaly's a great start, though if James or Chilwell got injured again we'd have to revert to the back 3 - Azpi's losing his legs for CB let alone RB, and even at his best Alonso's a trash LB.
      We need a finisher more than a creator. Havertz could blossom in a F9 role anytime, but Werner's not going to make it & Lukaku's already gone. It's the same problem we had this time last year, it needs to be addressed again.

    The only sensible transfer here is Koulibaly.
    Ignoring or loaning out a home-grown Levi Colwill, on the basis of "needing improvement", and then signing a 22 Yr old Ndicka, who also needs improvement, makes no sense.

    NDika is an interesting selection. Certainly has the skill set mentioned but I wonder if the step up would be too great at this time. Took some time to settle at Eintract and has a tendency to fly into some tackles and receive silly bookings. Further up the field I would like to see Jonathan David be brought in, suits the pressing style of the team, good link up play and is a good finisher. Doesn't quite rely on the space that Werner needs to run into the final third. Also would be interested in Scamacca before PSG swoop in for him and could be encouraged to press more in the higher based possession side.

    I think Chelsea need a midfielder this window. With Kante picking up more and more injuries and possibly declining, and Kovacic being brilliant on his day but struggling for consistency and going in and out of the starting 11, they need either a player to compliment Jorginho or a more defensive option to add solidity alongside Kovacic. The obvious option to pair with Jorginho would be Gallagher after his impressive loan at Palace, but if you wanted to build your pair around Kovacic they could go for someone like Tonali at AC Milan who has tons of ability and is young enough to be a long term starter. I think this would be a good (albeit expensive) long term signing, and would be a statement for the commitment of the new ownership. Anyway, I am very interested to see how Tuchel progresses with this team, there are many different directions he can go in, and I would be interested to see if he moves to 4-3-3 and plays a dedicated DM like Tonali similar to what City do with Rodri or Liverpool do with Fabinho.

Colwill is a fantastic prospect, and like Chalobah, it would be best for him to develop with the first team as Tuchel can impose his ethos as he develops. If experience is all he needs, let him play with the first team. As an academy product, he's relatively cheaper to obtain, less than Ndicka who comes from a successful Eintract side. Colwill in.

    My biggest issue is I don’t know for sure if we are primarily sticking to a back three or transitioning to a back four. If we go to a back four I don’t think we need anyone other than koulibaly personally. I’m not a huge fan of Nathan ake coming in for the fee being agreed and I don’t want colwill’s progression to be hampered too much. Plus I agree chalobah is ready to play more consistently especially now that he is 23. He is at the age where is is completely ready to get into the thick of it and has played more than enough first team football at this point in his career. If we stick to a back four or back three I would prefer we stick to one centerback signing for a back four and no more than two for a back three.

  • @soccerisabritishword6585

    The choice of N'Dicka would block Levi Colwill, who, as you stated, has similar attributes, and a higher ceiling, while not costing anything. Colwill also had shown leadership qualities. Future.

    I think Max Kilman would be a good signing from Wolves. Progressive ball carrier and passer, both footed but prefers Left side and strong defender too. Would be cheaper than these options aswell

    • @brynknight2745
      @brynknight2745 Před rokem

      Signing Kilman would be a bit of a slap in the face for Colwill and Ampadu, who are both at a similar level to Kilman

  • @Beeady
    @Beeady Před rokem

    Ampadu has the ability to play the RCB role, so even if Azpi leaves, that's not a massive concern. A RWB backup is needed though. Was hoping Dujon Sterling would fill that role but he's not gone on preseason tour sadly

  • @dianabialaskahansen2972

    I am still hoping Kounde joins. Together with Koulibaly. Hope we also add Colville and Ampadu this season for a bit of width and to give youth game time.

    I do reckon like how Koulibaly has been picked to cover CB and RCB i think Chelsea couldn't go wrong with doing the same for the CB and LCB too with Edmond Tapsoba, brilliant progressive passing, composed, intelligent and athletic aswell as comfortable being pressed would be a brilliant buy. Cover to LWB is easy to solve for Circa 6m Grimaldo of benfica would provide the attacking qualities that Alonso offers (inclusive of set pieces) defensively sound but small in stature. Alternatively David Raum would be equally if not better.

    Ndicka would be a great shout for City to replace Ake. Why Chelsea are going after Ake I have no idea given options like Diallo and Bremer were available, and that is despite seeing Ake’s upturn in form last season. Honestly think Chelsea would be better off using the Ake money on buying a DM like Martinez or Alvarez of Ajax, and trying out implementing a back 4. Might help the front three of Havertz Sterling and (idk) settle into form too.

  • @jonahm7278
    @jonahm7278 Před rokem

    Gvardiol is perfect as well. Ndicka will suit Chelsea more in a back 4. But playing as an LB. with ndicka as LB, Reece will still have the freedom to go forward because we can maintain back 3 principles when Reece is high with Ndicka tucking in closer to the CCB. I think this is why Tuchel was looking to sign Ake.

    Alonso, Azpilicueta, Kante and Jorginho all have just one year left on their contract so if Chelsea want any money for those players they would need to sell them now, which means they need to be replaced as well. Plus they surely need a new striker since Lukaku is leaving.
