- Hi guys! I finally had some time to go out for a morning hike and enjoy a nice breakfast in the forest. It was a bit cold so I was definitely up for making some hot cowboy coffee, and what goes well with coffee? Bacon and chocolate :)
I settled on one of my favorite ways of preparing crispy bacon, namely frying bacon in water! Its a dead easy way to make bacon outdoors without oil or butter to fry in. The end result is a nice dry crispy bacon that lends itself perfectly to being dipped in melted dark chocolate.
There is something to the combination of flavors: the salty crispness of the bacon and the sweet richness of the dark chocolate, its just perfect!
It goes great with a good strong cup of cowboy coffee (I like my coffee so strong it gets up and walks away by itself). This is my favorite way of making cowboy coffee. Dead simple, and works great every time.
Also, I show you guys my favorite Sawyer Mini mod/setup. It uses a longer tubing to create more waterflow and an IV clip.
Thanks for watching the video, please subscribe and happy baking!

I have never heard of this combination, but I am eager to try it! Thanks for another helpful, informative, and enjoyable video. You bring a sense of calm that I find very refreshing.
Nice! Bacon and chocolate is an underrated combination.
+BohoBushcraft Yes! Glad to see a fellow chocobaconist ;)
Not sure how you came up with the idea of chocolate and bacon but going to give it a shot. Really enjoy how you mix the recipes with basic backpacking pans/cook kits . Thanks for sharing
+Bill Gosnell heya Bill, thanks for watching! I think I first tried a chocolate/bacon recipe in my competitive BBQ team. Saltiness combines great with chocolate. Try adding a small pinch of salt to your hot chocolate for example. its awesome 😄
Chocolate covered bacon.... in the woods yet! UFFDA!! I can't say that I have ever seen bacon cooked like that using water. I will have to try that next time out. And melting the chocolate like that, so easy and brilliant! Maybe sprinkle in some chopped nuts. Now I'm making myself slobber up my screen. Thanks for sharing!
Cheezehead Chris Thanks! Yes, some nuts or salty peanut bits would top this nicely I think 😄 Frying bacon and water is easy, and very yummy. Hope you'll give it a try! Works well on the stove top as well. You can also add applejuice or rum for a subtle tasty coating.
Looks fantastic! You have a great channel, I can't wait to see some new videos!
