If you know how to boil water, you know how to make this simple, fun and delicious dumpling recipe! Dumplings don't really take a whole lot of preparation, and, best of all, can be made in any decent sized canteen cup.
The bannock mix you probably already have in your pack and some fruit you might find in the forest or carry with you, is basically all you need to enjoy this sweet breakfast, lunch or desert.
Use any bannock mix you want, as long as it doesn't contain a lot of baking powder or sugar, as the boiling process will disolve the dumpling similar to soup dumplings.
Include just enough to make the dumpling come out cake like and pillowy with a hint of sweetness.
Enjoy! - Jak na to + styl
It's great seeing a focus on outdoor cooking - hope you make more. :)
I have watched about five of your videos so far today and really have been enjoying them. The videos have given me some ideas for doing some baking here. Thanks for all you have done here on your channel.
Oh man!!!!
That is definitely something on gonna try. That looks so good. Thanks for this!!
Another nice job! ( Yes, I am binge watching your videos ;) )
Is on my list of things i have to cook
That's GREAT! I can't wait to try this. Blueberry dumplings mmm mmm...! Thanks so much for this fun, interesting video.
Great video !!!
Could you add a pad or 2 of butter to the blueberries to give it a buttery flavor from inside ???
Or would you add the butter to the batter to give the "breading" that buttery flavor ???
Thank you for all of your recipes !
Keep up the great work !!!
Interesting question. I would grate it into the dumpling mix. You could also cream the butter and than add the mix but that would perhaps be a little impractical in the out and about. I would have to try to see what happens when you add it with the blueberries though! :)
6:08 and the dumpling started smiling at me.
Must find something to eat. 😉
Nice! Another great recipe from Bushcraft Baking!
PS: Wouldn't make it with apple though, could be recalled.... ;-)

leuk recept, en weer leuk gepresenteerd!
Thanks man!
You're awesome! Can you make zucchini bread?
Hey, since you're asking for suggestions, do you ever cooked indian naans or chapati flat bread? Very good with outdoor currys, I can make decent ones at home, but I suck at it outdoors. I'd like to see your take on this!
I'm looking forward to it!
You touched up the dumpling. Lol.
Another enjoyable video! Where are you from? I am thinking Canada? But I may be completely wrong. You do a great job!
Heya buddy, I'm from the Netherlands! Thanks a lot :)
Bushcraft Baking I have work for two Dutch companies.... you have a great style... keep it up!
To make this can I use your bannock recipe from the "Easy cheese stuffed bannock bread - backpacking food recipe" video but 1/2 the baking powder?
Greetings B.B.!
Just discovered the channel, nice idea to focus on cooking!
Question: When you're talking about "baking powder", do you mean plain sodium bicarbonate, or bakery yeast? I only carry bicarbonate when outdoors, but I make homemade bread with yeast. And there is this third one to make cakes, that is chemical, but not quite bicarbonate, called "levure chimique" in french... What are you using?
pichnoufblues Interesting question that I had to look up for you. I use baking powder which is the same as levure chimique in French. However, the difference between baking soda (your bicarbonate) is that an acid is already added so that when water is added the reaction starts. I sometimes carry baking soda as well. hope this helps!
Thanks for your answer! I often have a hard time translating the terms, but you made it clear between baking powder/baking soda/baking yeast for me! Thats why I love CZcams; last months I learned the difference between "grits" (almost impossible to find in France) and "polenta". Today this is about these 3 powders! Cool! You get yourself another avid subscriber!
Goeie video, dit kende ik niet maar ga ik zeker proberen.
Thanks! Benieuwd naar je resultaat en vulling :)
