  • A backyard demo of cooking a quiche in the canteen cup, I t would be nice to have rocks to radiate the heat rather direct from the fire, but you can manage pretty well with some carefull coal placement. You'll also note that it didnt stick and came out as one big egg log. Enjoy

    Thanks for this video. I'm a truck driver and cook in my cab/sleeper. Saves money and tends to be better food than what you find in the truck stops. Also as a reminder, of you are like me and dont or can't have an open fire, almost all the truck stops sell 12 volt cooking appliances. Everything from small ovens, road stove, slow cookers like 1.5 qt crock pot, coffee makers , heated mugs, small frying pan, hot cups that can boil water, and other things very useful.

    you should try sunflower oil, its just as nutritious as olive oil, but doesn't degrade with high heat...it's very good , I use it to make cooking and baking on the trail also to make popcorn on the trail.

    your olive oil is ill advised, while rarely used as as a sautee oil it should never smoke. the oil you presented was black. Peanut oil for open flame or for your purposes appropriate because it seems it has a higher smoke point, meaning it won't burn as easily .
    Well produced, well presented and very palatable. Do you do a practice run in the kitchen before filming?

    3 Tbsp Crystals to 9 Tbsp water = 3 eggs.

    use peanut oil. it has a higher smoke point and won't burn like your olive oil did. it isn't a quick or frittata, it's scrambled eggs with sausage. you will find that merely using the correct cooking oil your eggs with?l not be brown,. burned and bitter. eggs should never be brown and the only olive oil to even attempt to waited with is the cheap 3d pressing and peanut oil will no go stale as quick as olive oil or safflower oil which does not have a smoke point like the peanut oil. Peanut oil will not go stale as fast.
    nice try. just get the right oil and don't burn the eggs.

    • @johnthomas8150
      @johnthomas8150 Před 7 lety

      what omelette are you talking about? the traditional French omelette? no that is 3 eggs mixed and spread out in a hotish sautee pan with ingredients added in the middle then folded over for presentation.
      there are many versions for an American omelette. it can be described as adding the mixed eggs to hot pan, spread over the flat surface of the pan, a it gets to set or get firm , it is folded over and older add ingredients and serve while warm, not brown. a frittata .....not going in to that a it us basically a omelet but started on the burners and finished in a warm oven.

  • @johnthomas8150
    @johnthomas8150 Před 7 lety +2

    use peanut oil. Instead of olive oil. Olive oil isn't meant for your type of " cooking". peanut oil can wanted or fry at a higher heat and not burn not like your olive oil did. egg should never be brown. that means that
