Such a POWERFUL vocal performance! Absolutely loved it!
My favorite cover of all time. The fact the video was done in black and white just shows how much you can do with minimal effects.
I grew up on Simon and Garfunkels original performance, so when I saw that there was a remake, a cover by a metal band, I had absolutely no interest in listening to it. How could anybody improve on the original artist? But I read a few comments under some of the videos, and it convinced me to give it a try. I was blown away! I still love the original, but it’s like comparing, I don’t know, a lullaby to a symphony maybe. S&G version is a gentle warning & Disturbed is more like an angry demand that we pay attention to the warning. Goosebumps, indeed.
That’s a good way of putting it! Almost like a completely different song, but both versions are great!
I never cared for the original. The words were fantastic, but the sound? Meh. This new cover grabs you as the original did not. Even Paul Simon greed that this is what the original should have sounded like.
The live performance of this song from the Conan show…it’s worth the listen.

@@setonhillstudios it is beautifully done. And apparently David was feeling quite ill, opting to sit on a stool to sing, but did amazingly even so. Such a gorgeous voice. Really enjoying your reactions….the pleasure you get from the different genres is lovely to see. This from a 63 year old Canadian who’s been a Metalhead since the genre became popular in the early 1970s…

Also Paul Simon, the songwriter, said this song now is David and Disturbed.

Saw a reaction content creator who loved Disturbed and for whatever reason always skipped this song on his CD he played in his vehicle. For years he skipped it. When he played it for the first time he cried. Literally cried he missed out on this song for that many years.

I was a HUGE fan of the original "Sounds of Silence" written by Paul Simon and released by Simon and Garfunkel in 1965. My little folk band (which never did have a name, by the way, other than "Linda and Vicki's Band") used to play and sing THAT version all the time, and I still love it. I wasn't happy when the name was altered to "Sound of Silence." (grrr)
I heard about Disturbed's version when it first came out in 2015, but it wasn't until 2017 that I finally said, "OK...I'll listen, but I doubt if I'll like it!" I didn't just "like it," I fell in love with it! These days, I will listen to anything that pops up saying that it's sung by David Draiman. His voice and presentations are just wonderful.
There's another version (patterned on the original), also, that I think you would love to react to -- performed by Peter Hollens and Tim Foust. It's a real "WOW!" I'll let you discover why I said that, on your own. 😀
My all-time favorite version, though, is Dan Vasc's second go at it. I have your cousin's (I'm sure I saw his name, somewhere...on Patreon, I think...?...but I can't remember it off-hand) reaction to Dan singing the Disturbed version of this song, waiting, next-in-line.

I checked out your list of reaction videos. I didn’t see any Falling in Reverse reactions. They just finished a tour with Disturbed, and I love both bands! Check out Watch the World Burn official music video. If you like it, there’s plenty more excellent songs by them and their videos are of the highest quality!!
