      I agree, rice cooker or multicooker is a deal breaker. Cause once you're hungry and the monster is awaken, it's really hard to not make poor choices, but with warm cooked rice/other healthy food awaiting for you you can sooth the beast a little. For some people works food preparation beforehand, but I just love freshly cooked

    I see that this video is over a year old. No big deal. My concerns are still relevant.
    First, do you drink pot liquor, Ryan? I’m sipping the broth from steaming cabbage and potatoes in the instapot. I used the same water for three days. That’s a lot of cabbage and sweet potatoes. It’s pretty tasty. Like a very deep-tasting tomato soup. Wondering if you drink anything like this.
    Second, I’m now firmly convinced that we can and do store extra calories (even if they’re fat-free, complex carbohydrates) as fat.
    Dr Rogers talks about fructose traveling through the portal vein from the small intestine, to the liver where it enters glycolysis at the three-carbon stage (instead of the six-carbon stage), and bypasses the regulatory steps so it gets metabolized instantly and when the liver has nowhere else to send the glycogen, it stores it as fat. Rogers then often goes on to explain why potatoes, rice and other complex carbohydrates are better - because they take time to be peeled from the fiber so it takes longer to be digested and converted into glycogen.
    So what’s with the “time it takes” for a carbohydrate to be metabolized? Why does it matter? It makes sense that the time matters because extra times gives us more room to burn calories to have a place for the glycogen to go after being metabolized - to the liver and the muscles.
    If fast-digesting carbohydrates can be stored as fat by the liver, why wouldn’t other forms of carbohydrates (like starch) be able to be stored as fat?
    I think we’re designed to be super-active, like DurianRider. I think he’s so active that it’s insanely difficult for him to eat more calories than he’s burned throughout the day. We’re probably all supposed to be that active. But most of us are not. Many people are so inactive that their hunger drives probably can’t go low enough to feel satisfied after eating the small amount of calories that equal the amount of calories they burn in a day. So exercise seems really important - probably more than we all think is minimally necessary. The more the better, I bet.
    But if we’re not very active, I bet we ARE storing carbohydrates as fat. It would have been rare for us to eat so many calories and move very little. It’s unnatural for our species.
    Kempner even observed that when people went home and didn’t measure out a single cup of rice, they gained weight. I bet those people didn’t increase their activity to match the extra calories they were eating when they eye-balled a cup of rice instead of measuring.
    I think if we’re less active than our ancestors, we need to stop eating when we’re no longer hungry instead of eating until we’re all-the-way full.
    I mean, look at Victoria. She not fat by any means. She looks great - especially for a mom. But she’s not shredded or anything and she’s really active. It seems clear that we need to eat the amount of low-fat starches and carbohydrates to give us the fuel to be active but if we’re not burning what we eat, it does seem that after a certain point (maybe after eating 1,000 more calories than we burned) we do store carbohydrates as fat. Our bodies might not like to do it since it requires more energy but as we see with high-fructose corn syrup, it clearly can do it. Our muscles and liver can only hold a certain amount of calories, maybe 2,000 maybe 3,000 but our fat stores can hold a virtually unlimited amount of calories.
    I’ll be proven wrong if you keep having unlimited calories and drop down to under 200lbs but the more I think of this, the more I think that McDougall is tailoring his message to get more people to eat the right foods and Victoria is eating the number of calories to keep a little bit of size on her and DurianRider is actively burning everything he’s eating. His food today is probably the governing mechanism in how hard or how long he can train tomorrow.
    I wish it were true that we can eat unlimited calories and all of it just get dissipated as heat. I just don’t see it. They say this violates the second law of thermodynamics. Maybe they’re right. And maybe when people restrict their calories, it’s their appetite and hunger drive that makes them eat more. Maybe the insulin resistance is only half the story. I hate to turn into a calories-in, calories-out person because I think that mentality completely ignores clean nutrition but after ten years of experimenting and diving into all this stuff, I do believe it to be the case that unlimited calories is a flawed system in the absence of extreme activity.
    Love to hear your thoughts. Loving you channel. Not going anywhere. Be careful on the bike in Cleveland. You got balls dude 👊🏼

      They say that because hormones are lipid based. The reality is all the energy needed to produce the hormones needs glycogen. The reason Asians have such massive populations is because of rice essentially. Fat clogs the system and restricts blood flow, and carbs alone do the opposite, I will let you use your imagination there.

    I think the most problem with people is not knowing from were they should start,and they keep listening a bunch of people saying high carb low fat is best no matter what diet u on people can lose weight,I did high carb low fat diet for 4 months and let me tell you I gain a lot weight mostly fat and plus i did lose muscle mass since than I choose to stick with my own plan and honestly is working for me pretty well and the bonus is that I eat fat,chicken,vegetables,and rice,and I'm losing weight easily and my body looks totally different.my advise to anyone is start from something and work from there even if u gain weight is fine you will lose it with no time.i give my example how i started 500g of any raw vegetables 400g cooked chicken or white fish ,40ml olive oil,and 400g of raw rice=2600 calories more or less,
    Protein=166
    Carbs=353
    Fat=57
    Stay like that for a week so you can fix your metabolism than if you not losing weight start removing 25g of raw rice each week or until u stop losing weight.keep it simple but stick with something you can do it for long term

      With high carb/low fat, it means your total # of fat grams for the day must be no more than 10-15% of your calories per day, so 57 g of fat in a day is like double the amount,v which would definitely pile on pounds. 👍
