Favorite starch? Spelt! Most of the time I use spelt or wheat. I am full for 8-10 hours when I eat spelt or wheat. No problems at all with digestion. (I thank God that I don't have a gluten intolerance 😄).
My favorite meal: Homemade spelt tortilla, filled with all sorts of things, potatoes, rice, lots of vegetables and beans, and homemade sauces. It's heavenly. I love this way of eating :).
I feel better when I eat different things. When I eat mono-meals (except fruit), I don't feel well and I feel increasingly worse.
My tip for people who have problems with digestion:
Inulin is very helpful for the microbiome. Inulin is pure fiber and feeds the microbiome so that a healthy bacterial culture develops. 5 years ago I took it daily for 1 and a half years. It built up my microbiome and since then I haven't taken it and my gut is still doing very well. (In traditional Chinese medicine, "gluten" is needed for the microbiome, which is why wheat or spelt is also important :).

i’ve tracked calories as a test being as precise as possible weighing things out, HCLF eating 3k+ cals a day, weighing my self, ate 4000 one day then 5600 the next day, while really active probably needing around 3k a day to maintain, after those 2 days i was up 4 pounds on scale, one day back at 3k cals at the same weight before the 2 high cal days (158lbs) , theoretically in those 2 days i consumed 3,600 more than i needed, should’ve gained about a pound, my conclusion is it’s really hard to gain weight on this way of eating, u would have to go over ur calories by 2,750 to start gaining weight, considering we can store about 2,500 calories of glycogen, and the thermic affect of carbs is around 10%

Ryan I like your videos, even if I don’t always 100% agree with you. I eat an omnivore diet but definitely love carbs (anywhere from 60 to 70% of daily calories comes from carbs, with 15-20% from fat and protein). As far as starch goes, my favorite is Potatoes, followed by sourdough bread, then white rice. No thanks on Calorie restriction or intermittent fasting. Typically I’ll do 3 fruit snacks prior to breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I've done this experiment on myself. On a truly low fat (7% of calories) starch based diet, my blood sugar stays between 80 and 130, no matter how much I eat. But just as soon as I add oil to my diet, my glucose runs 120 to 200. In my experiments, I added 1/4 cup of butter to my daily diet. Same experiment was repeated with corn oil. And olive oil. All the fats give me insulin resistance within a single week. Walnuts induce some insulin resistance, but not as much as pure fats. With walnuts in my diet, my glucose runs 110 fasting to 160 post-meals.

@@jonathanr5184 As far as I can tell, chickpeas, oats, quinoa, and even tofu, do not induce measurable insulin resistance.
I used a GCM to measure my blood sugars, confirmed with a stick measure test. The peak in glucose usually took about an hour to happen without the fat added, and 90 minutes with the fat added, though with the fat the peak was higher and more sustained.

Good digestion and weight loss. This metabolic blockage can decide whether or not to get into rice/pastas. Durianrider said if you are going to sweat eat salt. That's pretty much how I do it. I even take salt tablets when I use the sauna. If you have metabolic blockage or trouble loosing weight: the sauna can make it easier to digest the starches effectively so weight comes off. If you don't have access to a sauna, a sauna suit works well. If you are not into either sweet potato digests the best, and or the occasional white potatoes. Sweet potato has also more nutrition. The rice, pasta, and vegan pizza only if your able to do some walking/jogging/cycling AND some sauna/sauna suit sweating when the metabolic blockage is there. This would be high cholesterol, fat on the body, & especially any kind of prescription drugs in your body. The drugs seem to effect weight loss so sweat them out even if your not on them any more. They'll stay in the fat stores messing up weight loss. Duranrider says eat white rice for weight loss. OK, but not if you have metabolic blockage. These people did so much time on just raw THAT makes a big difference. It took Freelee 2 years to break metabolic blockage. Just sweat it out any way you can it should happen quicker. If you don't do some sweating you could quite possibly gain weight on Raw til 4; which some people complain about. It all depends upon what's going on with your body and what's in the fat stores. Ryan you can even do a vinyl or rubberized sauna suit with your work outs. My brother used a garbage bag. I watched him slim down fast. My favorite is to jog for 20 minutes with a sauna suit and do about 30 minutes a day dry sauna or steam.....then build up to 45 minutes a day. I have a program I do once every 2-3 years where you build up to 3.5 hours sauna time with 3-4 minute stints at a time...cool showers in between. It takes the drugs out of the body.
High cholesterol this will reduce it by around 100 points : drink; ginger, garlic, cinnamon stick. Boil 2 1/4 cups of water add half a cinnamon stick; turn off water once it boils. Prepare slices of raw ginger and garlic. 2 cloves and a thumb length of ginger. Slice and smash. Add to the water bring to a boil. Simmer 6 minutes. Add half a squeezed lemon right in there. Let stand for 6 minutes no heat. Strain, sweeten : drink for two weeks every morning.
Smoothie to blast metabolism 1-2 a day with whatever else you eat. Pineapple, cucumber, ginger, lemon/lime juice, & sugar. as much ginger as you can tolerate, three thumb lengths is good. This has a similar effect to the 12-15 banana smoothie with 2 lbs of coconut sugar that raw til 4 suggests.

I dont know what is right all i know is we have evolved with amalayze the enzyme that breaks down starch in our saliva and made in our pancreas. Yet its obvious high starch especially combined with high fat is the cause of metabolic dysfunction and disease. Yet remove most of the carbs and eat mostly meat and everything functions normally and you maintain weight easily.
