Please keep in mind that this question comes from a non-book reader. And it's only just occurred to me now, when doing a repeat watch of this particular video however many years later. But considering that Euron seems to be the character in this whole universe most directly associated with the most batshit, insane, intense "Lovecraftian level of magic" (as you guys have said several times before) is there anyone that thinks this could theory could be true by way of that he's literally in both places at once? That he somehow found a way to split/clone/whatever his body? Again, from a non-book reader, but if there's one person in this whole saga who potentially COULD do something like that, I'd wager it'd be Euron. I'm certainly not making a real argument for it legit being the case, but this possible element only just came to me.

  • @PhantomSavage
    @PhantomSavage Před 5 lety +676

Almost all the problems in this theory are solved if Euron is working with the faceless men. Euron has admitted he is responsible for the death of Balon but not by his own hand, and the man described throwing Balon from the bridge is a "man with no face". Euron also once said he threw a dragon egg into the sea, but if Euron is seriously interested in using dragons to takeover Westeros or even moderately values powerful, magical objects, he would never do such a thing and is most likely lying to cover up the fact he used the egg to pay off the faceless men for Balon's assassination.
If Euron is intent on stealing Dany's dragons, he doesn't need the egg that he uses to pay the faceless men with to complete his plans, which might be why he would offer it so willingly. In turn, the Faceless men are ancestral survivors of the "Doom of Valyria" and are even implied to be the cause of it, and seem to have their own plot that may involve going against Dany and her dragons by possibly enacting the same kind of magic or ritual used to destroy Valyria in the first place when the faceless men originally revolted against the Targaryens.
In the upcoming book, its now confirmed Euron uses and experiments with blood magic, as he's seen preparing for a great sacrifice to summon some great terror to Westeros, so its very, very likely he uses blood magic to increase his sailing abilities to extraordinary, supernatural levels, making his quick voyage between the two places possible.
If Euron and the Faceless men are both working together, its enitrely possible Faceless men are filling in for Euron both as himself and as darius between the gaps of his absence in either place. While Euron goes off to try and seduce Dany in mereen, a Faceless man may be wearing Euron's face back home as he organizes or possibly participates in raids on the reach. It might even be possible that the blood ritual Euron is seen preparing for in the upcoming book is directly connected to the Faceless men's plot, whom I remind you, are worshipers of death.

Let's go back to what we know about each character.
When Dany meets Daario she notices his flamboyant Tyroshi style:
Daario Naharis was flamboyant even for a Tyroshi. His beard was cut into three prongs and dyed blue, the same color as his eyes and the curly hair that fell to his collar. His pointed mustachios were painted gold.
Now what do we know about Euron? He drinks a very particular beverage.
"I mean to open your eyes." Euron drank deep from his own cup, and smiled. "Shade-of-the-evening, the wine of the warlocks."
So we know that Euron is drinking shade-of-the evening, which is connected with the Pyat Pree and the warlocks. Where do the warlocks live? The House of the Undying.
    Un-dying.
Now how could Euron -- who we know has a connection to the un-dying ones -- also be Daario who actively participates in dyeing?
He can't. It doesn't make sense."

Also, the Meereenese navy in the show has the same number of ships as Victarion's Iron Fleet because they're cutting the Greyjoy uncles from the show. Instead of Euron having to Sail around Dorne, across the narrow sea through/around Valyria to reach the slaver's bay, he could just sail northwest from the Iron Islands and reach Slaver's bay much quicker. It would also explain how Euron reaches Dany the bay before Victarion and assumes the Daario personality.

For me, the travelling time is the biggest problem. It actually makes perfect sense for a guy like Euron to disguise himself with an alias.

But as awesome as it would be, I don't see how one could handle so many elaborate backstories / secret plots / historical details FOR SO MANY CHARACTERS. Even with his talent and the time, effort and energy he dedicates to it... But either way it's so cool to see how people can get passionate about it and dig out so many clues and theories that actually make sense :) Thanks for the cristal clear explanations and rigorous work on video editing and quotes (can't even imagine how much time it takes) Mad props to you sir, you have a fine quality channel.

The thing with this, both Jorah and Certainly Selmy, would know him, dyed beard or not, the Ironborn are not exactly a small insignificant house.
Not saying there is nothing in the theory, a lot of connections and some compelling evidence.
The show writers may simply have merged the stories together as they have with a few other characters.
If they are the same people then it's just another one of those things that will make little sense when it's actually thought about.
Selmy was at the centre of just about every battle that happened in the seven kingdoms due to his position, he for sure would know a greyjoy, especially that one.

How in any sense will Euron's plans work if he isn't Daario? Like, there'd be no actual foundation for such plans if that was the case. The timeline stuff, if it turns out to be accurate, is so specific that it would have to have been on purpose. The only real problems presented are those of mercenaries questioning where their leader is (which would be easy to explain as if he is indeed Euron he's probably paying them, so why would they care where he is as long as the money comes in), and Euron's ship being noticed (which he could very likely dock somewhere else and simply use other ships). The problems barely do not outweigh the similarities.

How about taking up the theory of:

The news about the season 6 casting strongly suggests that there's gonna be a new Euron: " Pirate: “Man in his 40s to late 50s. He’s ‘an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness.’ He’s a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season.” " So Daario != Euron

Mr. G. Ruff Isn't Victarion also a pirate who plundered half the world as captain of the iron fleet and is also considered mad (not as mad as Euron, but still)? I think the new cast role could be a Victarion/Damphair-mashup since the story definitivly needs a counterpart to Euron to make the whole Ironborn story work.

hell, we've got glamours and shit going on- faceless blokes & mance. It's possible that Euron is doing some of that. On to the idea that Victarion is the one being cast, I think 'cunning' suggests otherwise.

Show-watcher and spoiler-reader here, going through his first read of AFFC, so grain of salt disclaimer goes here. Just got past the Kingsmoot, which made me want to revisit this video. Felt compelled to don my tinfoil hat and take a stab at some of the loose ends.
So the biggest counterpoints to DH=EG presented in the video are:
    1) Even with some physical similarities, there are differences in appearance to account for, like Daario's beard/tooth/eyes.
    2) Even if we accept blood magic assisted winds, slaver's bay is VERY far from the Iron Islands, and making the trip in the time allotted is dubious. Even if the timeline DID work, it's unlikely a ship as notorious as Silence would go unnoticed along the way.
    3) Even if the timeline theoretically allows for absences from the POV characters, both Daario and Euron have other places they're purported to be with men who would notice their absence; Yunkai for Daario and The Reach for Euron respectively.
Now, the first point is also the easiest to sidestep. The video puts forth a few plausible-if-unlikely suggestions for each dissimilarity, and given Euron's knowledge of Essos and penchant for the occult it's even plausible he'd have learned a thing or two from the Faceless Men. Plenty of reasonable doubt on this front.
The second point is trickier. The furthest south Euron is expected to be is the Reach, and he'd likely have to get provisions multiple times on the way to Slaver's Bay, providing plenty of risk that he'd be noticed.
What if he's not continuing south, though? There are numerous references to sailors longing to explore west of Westeros, and similarities between the Ironmen and Vikings make them a good historical parallel for trailblazing a western trail. What if in Euron's journeys, he discovered a route connecting the western coast of Westeros with the eastern of Essos? This would also explain his strong connection with Eastern Essos (he references Asshai frequently, and has taken to the Qarthene warlock traditions). If he knew a secret route to enter Essos from the east (the crew of the Silence ain't telling anyone), that would also explain his going unnoticed, since east of Slaver's Bay is the Red Waste, and less news would be likely from points east.
The last point remains the murkiest, though. Even if you can make the timing work, that's a lot of folks that need to be kept in the dark that would notice their commander leaving for months at a time. What if, however, Daario and Euron aren't the same person, but working in league with one another? This way the list of traits they share could point to a similar ideology, rather than their being the same person. This would also account for many of the holes in Daario's character Mr. Shift-X points out: If he's out for number one, and Dany is a significant long-shot when he enters her service, it's plausible that his betrayal of his comrades is part of a longer play with Euron to instill trust in the young Queen. Not unlike how Jon's killing of the Half Hand endears him to Mance. Keep in mind that just as Euron's worldliness is expressed in the cultures of eastern Essos, Daarios are steeped in points west: The Dothraki, Myrrish, etc. Combine this with the western route, and Slaver's Bay becomes a place where they meet in the middle -- Euron mopping up the power vacuum Dany left in Qarth while Daario acts as his emissary in the west.
Then, even if he does take the Iron fleet south, he could just as easily turn them west to form a surprise pincer in Yunkai, with Victarion on the west, Euron on the east, and maybe even Daario mounting some sort of offensive within the city. All parties could be planning to betray the others, and preceding events would still check out.
    Whatdya think?

In addition to the "Storm & Crow" mentioned in your video (which feels like intentional Easter eggs), I think there are also clues to this possible theory hinted in the 2nd vision in the 3rd of Dany's grouped Undying Prophecies. In ACoK after Dany enters the room with the Undying she is given 3 groups of 3 visions: The first group (Daughter of Death) are 3 visions of Death - her 2 brothers deaths and a vision of her dead son had he lived. The 2nd group (Slayer of Lies) are 3 visions of Lies - #1 Stannis (false Azor Ahai), #2 Mummer's (cloth) dragon (fake Aegon) and #3: a vision that sounds like something STILL TO COME in the books with respect to Sarella
