  • Jackfruit pops up in conversation over and over again. It's vegan, is easily available in cans, supposedly works magic as a meat substitute (especially for things with a shredded texture, like BBQ). Time to try it! Follow along as I open my very first can of jackfruit and turn it into a BBQ worth playing with.

Tasty Thursday has been running without pause for 6 years as of today. That's over 300 videos, all designed to show you exactly what you CAN do in the kitchen. I hope you explore, discover, and eat delicious food. Because, after all, you CAN do it!
    Jackfruit BBQ
1 can jackfruit, packed in brine or water
    chili powder
    BBQ sauce
    1. Open can and drain/rinse
    2. I learned (after the fact, which you can see when you watch the video) that you need to remove any hard parts and any seeds.
    3. Add some water to a skillet, then add in the jackfruit.
    4. Cook and mash/shred until the water is gone.
    5. Sprinkle with 2 TBS chili powder (optional)
    6. Stir in 1/2 c BBQ sauce and cook until warmed through.
    7. Serve however you love BBQ! (I think this would be awesome with coleslaw on a delicious homemade roll)
