Hell yeah.... Mine just started doing it about a month ago and it's burning up here. Funny thing is all my vacuum hoses are dry-rotted and I've replaced only a couple of them. I guess I know what I'm doing tonight. Thanks man
Yep, dude called it for me when he said to check your vacuum lines first. The connections in the engine compartment were rotted and leaking. Thanks dude, my panel vents have air again.
Wow! I can't wait to try this repair! My truck is the F150 2003 Lariat crewcab 4WD. I sent my climate control module in to a repair service after pre-paying for the repair. It's only 70 bucks and really nice people to deal with too. THey contacted me to warn me that their repairs might not fix the problem where the AC air is going thru the defrost. I had them do a diagnostic on it anyway, just in case. But I'm going to replace the vacuum hoses like you did. And I'm going to do the cable-tie trick too. I'll keep you posted. Fingers crossed!
WOO-HOO! It worked! Your trick worked! Two long cable-ties, a lot of sweat and a lot of swearing later and the air outta the vents is colder than my ex-fiancee's heart! BITTER COLD, baby!
You sir are the man! I've worked on quite a few of these trucks but must have induced a vacuum leak while replacing the engine. I'll sort that out but thanks you your video I have air on a 100-degree day I really didn't feel like spending under the hood.
You have saved me from another year without A/C in my Ford! I am dealing with a line that is disconnected at the firewall and have not got a chance to take the dash apart or run a new line.
Thanks man, zipped it as best as i can it works great. Plan on building a lever instead on relying on the console to change it for me but i dont plan on changing it for a while now. Thanks Man!!!
This was the only video that at least helped me get air back in my truck until I can locate the problem. I actually did this in the parking lot of a shop who was about to look at the issue for me. Needless to say I backed it up and left out of there with nice cold air until I can find the problem myself.
I am having issues finding where to buy new hoses online. My ranger has this issue and I am sick of the heat!!! I am glad I found this video, thanks bud!!!
I wedged a block of wood about 1 1/4" between the plunger and brace above it. Holds great and can remove it if it gets foggy until you fix the EATC. Thanks for your video for showing me where to go to fix it!!!
Travis Gill they wanted me to replace the automatic temperature control module and that might’ve fixed the problem but they wanted 1,300 for it. So thank you so much. Would the zipties be fine on there? Is there any drawbacks from just leaving it there?
You have saved my life. I have hunted this vaccuum leak for days. I haven't been driving my truck because it's so hot here in SC like you mentioned. I'm in the upstate and it's been hooottt!
Glad I could help...I'm down here in Summerville and so many of my customers driving these older fords have this problem. Because allot of them have really high miles they tend to give up looking for the leak and use this trick
I'm about to that point myself. It just about has to be the intake or gasket leaking. I have checked and replaced any bad hoses. I'd bring it down and get you to fix it but i dont care to pay any speeding tickets right now. I don't think i have made it through Summerville yet without getting one lol
My god the dreaded intake gasket leak...I do those but I cant do it mobile so when business is slow I will have customers drop their truck off where I live..if you have Facebook I can show you my page
my ford crown victoria has the same problem with the ac stuck on defroster so would those vacuums be around the same area like mines since its a ford too?
Thank you. I've repaired 4 vacuum leaks under the hood, but I'm still throwing lean codes and my ac won't come through the panel ("vent" will come through the panel, but when I hit max AC it goes to the defroster). I'm guessing my control module is bad. Your little zip tie rig will get me through AZ summer until I can get it fixed properly. Thank you!
@travis gill does that mean that even if the vacuum tubes are damaged or cut from the outside, if i tie wrap the actuator then ac will come out front? i got ac back side but only defrost front coz the tube are all brittle and damaged outside
what if i just leave the zip ties locked and not fix the vacuum lines, i just want cold air out from the front panels, would that be ok, and no need to change anything
What’s that actuator called the one next to the gas pedal? My issue on my 99 ford f150 is when I mess with the low to high, it’ll switched to defrost then I gotta turn the air to off my to reset it back to the front vents .. only when I put the air on high it switches I replaced all vacuum hoses so now when I press the gas pedal it don’t switch over anymore to defrost once it’s blowing through the front vents it stays that way but for some odd reason when I put the blower on high it’ll switch to defrost…… help :(
Hey man is there any possible way I can block the flapor disconnect the vacuum hose or something for it to stay open like that because it is the flapper motor itself
Thank God for this video I have a o4 navigator that I can't get a vacumm line diagram can u send me some pics of the lines by the AC resivior and fire wall mine dry rotted and some one line was broken can't seem to find where it goes.and no help
Anybody know if 2006 Ford Ranger has arm in the same place, or if it is different place? I will look for this arm below driver side dash when I get home tonight. Thanks for your help! My vacuum lines look fine, I might just try replacing heater/ac control panel as it is only $40 part.
I replaced the o rings in the modual and replaced the bad lines under the hood. Now I have to push the floor button to get the vents to blow, and when I push the max ac it comes out the floor! What did I do wrong, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot dude, looks like I’ll have ac sooner than later. My ac lines on my truck have been open for awhile, I am gonna buy the whole new line kit, my question to you is do I have to drain my coolant before I go disconnecting those lines?
Omg thank you I've been without air in Mississippi for a few years. This fixed my problem. I do have a question though, is doing this fix harmful to my truck

Travis Gill I think I worded it wrong, where the vacuum line goes into the firewall, there's a grommet in the firewall for the vacuum line, where on the inside of the cabin does that line go to? Unless it broke when he pulled it out, there's only about 6" of line from the engine compartment to fit into the dash. I haven't tried pulling the glove compartment yet to see if I van see where it connects. Thx for replying back sir.
